It's big and bright, and, as always, so friendly. Maybe the selection is exactly the same, but it FEELS bigger, so your creative brain can come out like a happy, curious child and explore possibilities. We got to talking and somehow it came about that while I'm from Eugene I currently live in Chicago, and she happened to live in Chicago at one point, too. We also both worked at universities in the city. Just having a chat with her made it a fun stop. The store is very clean and has many of the art supplies one would need to create their next masterpiece--paper, canvases, paints, pens, you name it. They have information about workshops and art-related events as well. I am not much of an artist but I did do a paint night in grad school once and found it to be a lot of fun (surprisingly so--it was very soothing). That is to say, you may also find painting to be a relaxing activity, so if you've ever wanted to pick up the hobby, visit here and you'll good guidance from very helpful staff. I was a bit sad that it's not in Eugene, since I don't get to Florence very often even when I'm home visiting, but coming here did spark creative energies that I'm hoping to follow in the coming months!

The building has many small businesses arranged along a hall, it reminds me of a similar building filled with creative businesses on Williams. Inside you will find books, stationary, art supplies, design goods, apparel, accessories, craft kits, journals, and home goods. It would be a great spot for gifts. Children may enjoy the kits and adults may enjoy the inspirational books. Can adults do kits? Of course. You can even find a gift for yourself! Do you need a DIY perfume kit? They have unusual items you will not find elsewhere. It is sometimes the clubhouse for Portland's social practice art world. The store has an upstairs rental space and there are often craft and creative workshops there. Much of their inventory is online too.
