My son passed away two years ago. Last December I was thinking of a way to honor him and the idea of recording a CD of songs that I could sing to him came into my mind. Up until then my singing had been confined to my basement. I made a few phone calls to recording studios in my area. After speaking with Kevin, I decided to meet him and discuss this idea. I went to his studio and he explained the process of putting together a ten song CD and what it would entail. Kevin was so encouraging, positive, and enthusiastic about my project that he made me believe it was doable. So, he gave me my first vocal exercises and the journey began! I think I could write a book on how amazing the entire experience was working with Kevin for six months - he provided me with an emotionally safe environment to sing to my son. He treated me with kindness and respect. There were days when it was very difficult, almost impossible to sing in the studio. But Kevin's patience and encouragement and awesome vocal coaching got me through. I got easier as time passed. Kevin is so comfortable to work with. He gives instruction with positive reinforcement which really helps build self-confidence!! Kevin is vastly talented. He is all things musical rolled into one! His singing voice is so beautiful. He graced my CD with his voice on a duet I asked him to sing lead on. He is a great songwriter, vocal instructor, plays many different instruments, has his own recording studio, and is a touring musician in his own band!! Kevin also helped me with his graphic design skills to create the jacket for the CD which includes a photo collage. He does it all, and I know it was serendipitous that I was led to him! With his help and guidance, I have a tangible and lasting musical tribute to my son that I will cherish and share with others.... And the best part is that because of Kevin, I have music and singing back in my life. I am going to continue to take singing lessons from him and feel ready to sing for fun again. Kevin is one of the best musicians I have ever encountered, hands-down, and I know a lot of musicians and am one myself. I reached out to him for vocal lessons because I was hitting walls in my ability to compose and perform for a musical I am writing. In a matter of a few weeks, he unlocked so many things for me and helped me make rapid progress. More than that, though, he gave me hope. I always thought that people were either great singers naturally or not, and it wasn't really something that could be learned, but now I know differently. I have had a great experience working with Kevin. I started taking lessons with him to strengthen my belt and mix as well as to learn how to use my head voice for musical theatre style singing and have improved greatly after just a year. He provides vocal warmup audio files that I can use on my non-lesson days and just being consistent with using those have been a game changer.
