We've visited this store multiple times - now strictly as a joke. The owner and other employees are absolutely disgusted every time we go in. It doesn't matter our attire, mannerisms, or if we come with children or on our own, they despise us. We never see other customers so I'm betting we aren't the only ones. They're quite pricey, and while I'm sure the decor is worth it, the service is just so atrocious, I can't get past that. I'd spend that if I was keeping a small business in business, but this one should go out of business. Terrible waste of that beautiful McKinney square space. read more

This is the most expensive and rude store that I have ever been to. The owner and the staff were not welcoming at all. The delivery men were dropping off huge packages to them and the owner called him "a jackass" for bringing in their packages and leaving them at the front as she had asked him to do. My friend and I were going to purchase some smaller items and after hearing this decided to leave. You should never be rude to not only your customers but the people who help make your business by bringing you large items. Mind you the delivery men were not rude at all they were very friendly and respectful, she on the other hand was not. I would not recommend this place to anyone, a table tray was $140 which could be made at home for $30 very very overpriced! read more

Was disgusted to see the store completely lit up as I was driving around during blackout desperately trying to keep warm due to 2nd day of no power and heat. Everyone is asked to conserve energy during this crisis but this store owner was too lazy to turn off the ridiculous amount of lights "showcasing" their wares. While shopping in McKinney today at Home for the Holidays and encountered a most rude shop keeper/owner at Uptown a home decor store. I was ready to spend several hundred dollars and the female owner was extremely rude which in turn immediately made me not choose to support this local small business! I am from out of state and shop a lot as I travel and have never experienced such rudeness. I am a designer and love finding pieces as I travel from different parts of the country. Every other shop on the McKinney square was amazing, welcoming and more than willing to work with an out of state designer. Many going above & beyond. Shop McKinney square, but not the store named Uptown! Will NEVER shop this store again and will not recommend to my large customer base that is local! My friend, whom was with me and resides in McKinney and frequents this store.....has now changed her opinion of this store...called Uptown. This store has the best furniture and home decor! I bought the most beautiful white velvet sectional here a few years ago and just ordered a new sectional from them. I've also bought a kitchen table and chairs from them and some really amazing artwork, that I get compliments on all the time. I was expecting to be told that I would need to come in to purchase but was pleasantly surprised when she kindly said I could purchase over the phone. Neat mix of old and new - some things look like they might be antiques but they could be new items made to look like old (like the old roosters that were so popular way back). They have lots of candles and lots of unusual things for the kitchen but what is really neat about Uptown is that they have a full art gallery upstairs. You can visit the art gallery and look down onto the sales floor, it's very neat. The art was all original oil, some of it very good, ranging from small pieces from $50 to large pieces for $5,000. read more

I bought a couple items from this store. The sale rep said you have # of days to make a return if you change your mind. I bought the item as a gift but when they tried it one it didn't fit, when I brought it back to the store, the sales rep was not even understanding. The sale rep completely told me they don't do returns/exchange. This is the store I will never shop again because customer service is just not there. The have to make return policy clear to the customers. A store I probably will not visit again. read more

The ladies at the front counter are extremely rude. They follow you around the store as if you're going to steal something. You can buy half of their merchandise at Weirs for better prices. A friend of mine had a horrible experience here! She ordered some furniture which took forever to come in and be delivered. She was told a week and it was more like 6 weeks!!! Then there was multiple problems with the furniture so they had to be returned which was another nightmare. The owner was rude and the customer service was awful. Awfully rude salesgirl. Clearly not interested in making a sale. She told my brother to look from outside in the cold wind through a window at the couch he was interested in buying (after telling him he could not look at the front of it from the 10" high raised section of room-sized flooring it was on lest he fall and get hurt). When I was managing a similar store, anyone who treated customers so harshly and rudely would have been out of a job instantly. I came to the Square to spend money if any of the shops had what I needed for my living room decor but I left without seeing what they had after this incident. Spent my money elsewhere. read more

This place is a nightmare. It is located in McKinney Square. My mom and I, who are currently BOTH building houses in Stonebridge Ranch and in the market for furniture, strolled in for the first time yesterday, a Sunday. I saw a really cool kitchen/dining table with neat chairs and took out my phone real quick so I could take a picture and show it to my husband who was not with us to see it. Some lady, no clue who she was or what her name is, just know she worked there... she was helping other people right next to me, and right in front of everyone VERY rudly said "Uh, can I help you?..... We don't allow pictures." It was seriously Pretty Woman style. And it was not an honest question. She was not seriously wanting to help me. It was rude and unprofessional, and really just quite ridiculous. A simple "I apologize ma'am, we don't allow pictures" would have simply done the trick. I left. My mom stayed back and asked another worker if there were any signs or anything anywhere saying pictures weren't allowed. The lady said yes, there were on the windows outside. We looked those windows UP and DOWN and could not find one single thing. There is no sign of any kind. To top things off... I opened the door to walk out and made a comment to myself about the rude lady, and quite literally, two women strolling by outside said "Are you serious?? You too??" It caught me off guard but then they went on to say they too were treated horribly and left as well! It was hilarious but not. I taught customer service to 400+ employees for 2 1/2 years.... Don't go here. It doesn't deserve any kind of star, but since you have to put at least that... I was left with no choice. read more
