All was well until my last cleaning with them. Things listed in their checklist that should've been cleaned weren't, the battery cover to my automatic trashcan in my bathroom was gone and batteries left on the counter and oddly my makeup puffs that were with my laundry are missing and I still haven't been able to find them. When I first moved to Dallas I didn't have any friends with house cleaners who could provide me with a referral. I was hesitant to hire a cleaning service (rather than an individual), but feel so lucky I found Uptown Cleaning with a google/Yelp search. I used Uptown Cleaning for my 1 bed/1 bath apartment in Oak Lawn for several years. I only stopped using the service because I moved out of state. But I always recommend Uptown Cleaning to my friends! Mattie was always so easy to work with! She was flexible with getting me into the schedule, especially when I called last minute. She also took good notes for when I had special requests. One advantage of using the service is that they're used to cleaning apartments. Mattie informed me that I could ask for a key release so I don't have to make key copies or have to be home to meet the cleaner. I don't think it gets much more convenient than that! The cleaner also brings their own supplies which was great for me since I didn't have a lot of room to store my own cleaning supplies! What is cleaned is listed on their site so I always knew what to expect when coming back to my clean home after a service. And I loved coming home to my apartment after it had been freshly serviced by Uptown Cleaning! My only negative is that there's a credit card service fee. So I paid with check instead to avoid the fee even though I'd prefer to pay with credit card. But overall I really feel like the pricing was so reasonable for what you get! read more

Probably the worst experience of my life. I hired this company to clean my new apartment unit the day before I moved in. When the cleaners arrived, there was only one young lady. I explained how everything in the unit was needing to be cleaned and especially inside the cabinets. The unit didn't have a single piece of furniture keep in mind. When the clean was "completed" many many things were left untouched. Inside of the cabinets and even the entire closet had dust on every single shelf. My hands were covered in dust and grey shelving dust. The company explained how sorry they were and how they were going to send a different team out today (which is my move in day). Instead of sending new people, they sent the same lady and she proceeded to argue with me that everything was done! I ran my hand across everything and showed her my hand after and that's when she proceeded to get on the phone and call someone. She began saying "this lady is insane I've done everything" to whoever she was talking to on her phone and I was completely disrespected! I hired these individuals to clean a BARE apartment and I was completely just disrespected and now I'm left with cleaning my entire apartment. The company sent me a message after everything and said "we are so sorry but you cannot use profanity towards my employees"... I am completely blown away of how the entire situation flipped. Eek! I was referred to Mattie's Uptown Cleaning Service by a friend. Mattie seemed sweet when I called her and she promptly informed me that they were God fearing company. I loved that. I also loved how responsive and on top of it she was. My house had already been deep cleaned by our BELOVED cleaning lady that had just moved, but Mattie said I still needed to pay the full fee of $90 for the first time cleaning fee. She confirmed (in writing, via email) that the monthly rate would be $75 after the initial clean. I wasn't excited about the increased cost for the initial cleaning since our apartment had recently been deep cleaned, but I agreed. The first of the month came for them to clean and unfortunately the quality was marginal at best. It didn't smell fresh, they only cleaned around furniture, etc. As I walked around the house, I thought oh well, but it got worse. When I got into bed that night, the sheets weren't even done. What a bummer. I emailed Mattie, and she responded by saying she forgot to include the sheet cleaning on the instructions. I informed her that she confirmed in writing (via text message) that the sheets would be laundered, and I asked for some sort of comp for the mistake. She responded by saying she will not provide any sort of comp for her mistake. As a person in customer service myself, I thought her response was a bit off with no apology, but mistakes happen, so no problem. My husband and I decided we would move on and give them another chance. When I emailed Mattie to confirm our next cleaning, she informed me she was raising our price to $90 for a one bedroom 2 bathroom. We do have 2 bed, 2 bath, but only wanted one room cleaned. It was CLEARLY specified in our original email to Mattie that we needed 1 bedroom and 2 bathrooms cleaned, which she responded to by confirming the price would be $75 (the other room is only storage, so there is nothing to do in there). Mattie is allowed to change her pricing, but she didn't seem to want to address why she first told me $75 through email. Instead of having wonderful customer service and providing a reasonable explanation as to why she is changing the price she quoted us (in writing), she said, "I'm not going to argue about your rate." It is $90 per month...". I responded by permanently canceling our service and said it is unfortunate a supposedly "Christian" company does not employ the value of keeping your word. I informed Mattie that I would be writing a review on the situation, and she responded by saying I am a "vindictive" person and accused me of trying to "force" her to clean my apartment at a rate which pleases me. LOL. No, in fact, I am not trying to "force" you to do anything. I am only asking you to follow through with the price you quoted me, in writing, for your services. She closed out by saying, "You don't want to pay our rate, you are welcome to use another service. Is that clear enough?" Clear as crystal. I would highly recommend that you do not use Mattie or Uptown Cleaning. However, if you are interested in dealing with a highly emotional woman who will only defend herself, not be true to her word, and greedy for money instead of a happy life long customer, this is the place for you. Decent cleaning job. Missed base boards, spots on the floor and build up in the corner of the shower/tub but overall not bad. Not sure if wiping down the inside of the fridge is on their normal list to do or if that's extra but it was never done. The cleaner piled up the trash in the can and left it by the door instead of throwing it away. I guess they don't throw the trash with this service either. The owner did try to raise the amount I pay because she said I have a multi level unit based on the address search she did and showed the complex I lived in. Never once seeing the unit or even asking her cleaners that have come to clean my unit or myself how many levels it is. Not sure if it's her way of hustling people out of extra money or if she legit doesn't understand that there are numerous floor plans in large apartment complexes. Also, kinda shitty when you talk to Mattie (the owner) and ask her if you can have the same cleaner every time and if they/she can sign an Non Disclosure Agreement (I work from home and deal with high end clients) and she says yes, and then dodges the signing of it and when I asked for her/the cleaner to sign it and to provide the same cleaner every time, she says she doesn't feel comfortable even though she says she and her cleaners have signed them for numerous other clients and understands and wants to protect their/my privacy. She's one of the cheaper services but you get what you pay for and for the hassle of working with her, I'd rather deal with someone who does a great job every time, someone that can live up to their end of an agreement and someone I don't have to chase around for answers. read more

This company is one of the few approved cleaning vendors on my former condo building's access list, so I selected them to do a move-in ready clean after I moved out of my condo. Mattie replied to me quickly, and I was pleased with her estimate. Her schedule flexibility was also great as well along with accepting credit cards by phone. The cleaning was done after I moved out of my condo and out of state, so I had to cross my fingers when the realtor and owners viewed the place to determine the quality of work so that I could get my $500 deposit back from when I moved in. We used Uptown Cleaning for several years but ultimately discontinued after a disappointing customer service experience. We suspected that our sheets hadn't been washed and reached out to Mattie. No response. After another cleaning, we again suspected our sheets hadn't been washed and reached out again. This time, Mattie responded saying that we had requested that they not wash our sheets. She wasn't able to provide any evidence of this request. She seemed to have mistakenly assigned another client's request to our account, but didn't acknowledge this error or offer any kind of make-good after we twice paid for a service we didn't receive. Given that customer service is the whole point of using a cleaning service vs. an independent cleaner, we stopped using Uptown Cleaning. Can not recommend them, I hired them for several months and a lot of the times their cleaning wasn't done properly and just completely wrong, I would constantly need to be home and provide the cleaner with constant direction, in addition the turn over for her cleaners was quite high, and when finally there was a good one, they would end up losing them. They either put the dishes in dishwasher or take them out. It takes ~ 1 hour for the dishwasher, does it mean it takes you less than an hour to clean 1bd , 1 bath? Sounds about right as my place was never cleaned properly! Cleaning around items on the counter or any other surface! You need to move away all the stuff then clean it! Extra charges for move in and move out are acceptable, but it will be great if they actually do the extra cleaning as advertised / promised!
