I took in some clothes (brands) that I have seen in the store and was told they do not take this brand I brought in but, yet it awfully funny they sell the brand I brought in. Greetings, I hate writing bad reviews for companies, but hopefully this is helpful for plus size women who are considering reselling to Uptown Cheapskate. I brought in a few items that were XXL/20. I was told that they do not take my size and they do not take clothes two years old, even though I checked their racks (which had a very small section of plus size) and I just bought most of these items (minus the purses and 1 dress) within the last 6 months. The only clothes item that was right at the two year mark, was a Christopher John Rogers dress that is currently being resold on Poshmark and Mecari apps for roughly $99 (I just checked ). So here's my suggestion for customers: This store is for pre-teens. If you have upscale items, please don't waste your time. Sell them on Poshmark or Macari. If you are plus size, I wouldn't bring anything in for resell unless it's fashionNova, Shein, Nike, Fashion 2 Figure and/or Old Navy. Think cheap and middle/high schoolers. They have a VERY small selection of plus size clothing, so plus size sisters and brothers, this is probably a store you should skip over for purchasing purposes as well. So here's my suggestion for the store (locally and corporate): Please consistently post what brands and sizes you're looking for online, social media, and in the store. This will save us all. Also, I would love to help you attract more plus size customers, since you clearly are trying to get some of them as customers. I'm a content creator who helps brands become THE WOW while improving their customer experience. The first thing I would suggest is reaching out to plus size nano/micro influencers to help push the brand and highlight the plus size sections available. Start with TikTok since they match your ideal customer profile. Also, while I have your attention, it would be great to diversify your marketing with more people of color on your social media pages. I know Columbia County hasn't changed much, but it's 2022 (if you grew up here, you know what that statement means). Finally, I hate that this experience dampened my day. I recently lost 68lbs in 2022, and wanted to celebrate that win by blessing someone with a few of my signature pieces including the Christopher Rogers dress that I used once for a content photoshoot. I will still be able to do that, but not at Uptown Cheapskate. They are not very knowledgeable about sneakers. I took many pressures of shoes in today. Most were new in the box. The rest were in like new condition. Lady doing the buying tried to tell me that she thought 2 pairs of my sneakers were "fake". She decided to authenticate one pair only to find they weren't fake. The second pair even after I showed her that they were not and I already had them authenticated , still insisted that they were because she could only find them used online. I tried to explain to her that they were a limited release. ‍ I would suggest looking on GOAT or STOCKX before calling a pair fake. Then she tried to offer $40 for a brand new $180 shoe. Saying they would only sell them for $119. Which I find hard to believe since similar shoes in their store was extremely worn looking and they were asking $90. Then the 3 pairs of EXCELLENT condition Air Force ones she wouldn't take. Because they were from 2009. I questioned this because the other Air Force ones in their store had peeling leather, and severe creases for$60-$70. But I guess this is ok because they were from later years. Ohh. And I was offered $10 for a brand new pair of ugg slides that retail at $100. And $15 for a brand new pair of limited edition Reebok's $70 retail Needless to say I wasted time today. read more

I went to Uptown Cheapskate to offload inventory after my disability benefits got suspended and is pending appeal. At first I was told it would take 20mins that turned into 5 mins and a quick rejection of every single item I brought in. After claiming they had too many dresses, too many accessories and knowing no package was opened it became very clear to me racism was at play. For the record, my EIN is 823197515. I have legitimately been in business for over 10 years and I will NEVER return to such obvious prejudice. I am, was and NEVER will be a thief. I was merely trying to feed my kids. I will NEVER go back. It was humiliating when clearly they did not know a dress was a pant. Sure they will take your money but do not dare be enterprising yourself. I'm no fool, I 'pretended' it was not offensive to be treated this way and left rather than protest as a proud Black entrepreneur. For the greater good of the race. read more

This location had a ton of clothing, both used and new. This is the second time I had ever been to an Uptown Cheapskate, and the last time I went, it was only during their Dollar Days deal back in Jan/Feb 2022 (marked items normally $1-9.99 become $1, $10-19.99 marked down to $2, $20-49.99 down to $5, $50+ down to $10). This time, I decided to try and sell my own clothing to clean out my closet. They only took two of my items and offered me $5 cash/$6.25 store credit, which I can't really complain about because they weren't name brand items, were already used once, and were purchased for lower than what they asked anyway (thanks to Forever 21's ridiculous $3 dress sale and Uptown's Dollar Days lol). It's funny because they coincidentally had their semi-annual sale the same day that I went to sell my clothing (all clearance 70% off), and there were some nice finds, so I took the store credit and walked away with 5 articles of clothing at a net loss of $12. So much for cleaning out my closet. I wouldn't come here to buy clothes for myself if they didn't have a sale. Prices are good, but not that great in my frugal opinion. There's a lot of SHEIN, Forever 21, Fashion Nova, H&M, and other fast fashion brands. But there are also a few hidden gems. Definitely worth checking out during a sale. I came here for the first time trying to clean out my closet. Shoes were still in the box and apparently weren't good enough. I still donated them, I'm not trying to bring them back home. Anyway, I ended up wandering around and they had a really decent selection of men's clothes so I was able to grab some reasonably priced name brands for my husband. As for the women's clothes... a lot of forever 21. Had some cute fall stuff. A lot of workout clothes. I'll give it another go. Good when you need some new stuff but don't want to pay a lot of money. Uptown Cheapskate has continuously given me much less than i deserve. Today, i brought in over $300 worth of kate spade purses along with other items and i was given $15. These purses were lightly used and to only receive $15 felt insulting. Over the years I have continually supported this business and sold clothes however i have never received more than $20. Even taking note of their "most wanted items" such as cargo pants, and brand such as American Eagle and GAP and making sure to follow these guidelines, i have never received adequate money. Unfortunately i believe that, like another comment mentioned, this is due to my race. Other girls of different traces have come into this establishment and i watched them get over $100, with the same types of things i brought in. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! It is saddening considering a few of the workers are very polite and helpful. I wish i could give this place one star. read more

If you're African American and are thinking about reselling anything here don't. I witnessed a black man attempt to sell something and when he walked off they made racists remarks and wouldn't purchase his items. I'm sure because if his color. So I tested the theory. I had a brand name well take care of bag which I had no intentions of selling but wanted to see if they would do the same to me. They did. I provided authenticity papers and she still (who I don't think is the manager that does the sells) turned my item away. It's shameful that in 2023 racism still exists. Unfortunately I am not a women, so the deals for me are not that expansive here, but I still browse around while my wife gets stuck in their web of deals. I have scored a few deals at Uptown Cheapskate on dress shirts, since they have Polo branded gear for around $25. My wife has picked up a few dresses, some small clutches and some shirts without breaking the bank. It's not a bad option for a tight budget or last minute "wardrobe change." read more

I was surprised by the amount of clothing they had in the store. I enjoyed seeing all of it as it gave me a lot of options! I did end up buying a few things. It ended up being around 40 dollars for 4 things. So it wasn't to bad considering the quality of the clothing was nice. This place is great except for a few things. One - the store is crowded. That is the racks are so crammed, it's difficult to actually look at the items without making a huge mess. Second: their prices differ little from that of Marshalls or TJ Max. I understand it is a business - and a consignment store. But much like a car, as soon as you buy something new and drive it off the lot, it loses its value. On the other hand - you can find decent clothes cheaper than the mall or in many cases, online. They also have a large selection. I would go back - but only after I went to the other thrift stores in Augusta - and if I were looking for something specific I hadn't found yet! read more

We received that statement before a simple greeting of hello, considering we were incoming customers. Clear as day, as well on the website, they stop buying at 8. Other than the lack of parking spaces, Uptown Cheapskates is awesome. Everything is color coded and by size. The staff is very friendly and ready to help. A lot of the clothing line that I've run through in the store surprised me. More than I thought. Brands like Hollister and American Eagle pop up here and there. Okay, I'm obsessed. Why haven't I been shopping here! As soon as you walk in you're given a friendly greeting which is a pleasant change from the scowls you'd receive at Plato's Closet. They have a ton of everything, and it's sorted by type, size, and color. Makes shopping a breeze! The fitting rooms are spacious and well lit, the attendant was cool. I went during a huge sale they had, so I received a ton of discounts on my stuff that was already cheap (they have military discount too), and got a free nail polish! Cute. If you don't take a bag for your stuff then you get a little token to put into a charity box, and they'll donate the cost of the bag to that charity. I LOVE this place. I think I was there for the grand opening and not a month goes by that I don't stop in to check out the goods. Its definitely worth it to stop in when they have sales; I got a Zara dress, with the original $80 price tag still attached, for $4!!! I've sold some stuff as well, don't both with any designer stuff, they just can't give you good money for it. I always get store credit and spend it in my first trip. My boss recommended Uptown Cheapskate to me for quality clothing at affordable prices and told me he frequents there for brand name things at marked down prices. I was in need of some new pants but didn't feel like paying full price and decided to see what it was about There are two locations, this one and one down in Augusta off Washington Rd. I think that one may be slightly larger but not by much. I was really impressed by the variety of clothes and also the quality. I ended up buying three pairs of pants that still had their tags on them. They also had shoes, jewelry, and purses. Part of the reason for their quality control is that they choose what to buy from people, this isn't Goodwill where everything is just blindly accepted. They also do military discount, offer a discount for bringing your own bag, and do promotions pretty regularly. I'd definitely recommend a visit for the same reasons my boss told me-quality clothing at affordable prices. read more

Why don't you all actually look through the clothes people are bringing in and do your job, instead of skimming and putting what YOU didn't like back in the "No Thank You Items..." This is an excellent upper-scale thrift store, my only complaint about it would be that some of the prices for things in there do seem a little high, considering this is a second-hand store. Some of the jackets I saw in there were priced at around $40, which I thought was a little absurd. Besides that though there was a lot of great deals for clothes that still look brand new. They must sort through all of their donations and only put out the clothes that actually look decent enough to sell. I spent around $100 in there and got 3 shirts (button down), 2 pairs of pants and a few other items. Great haul!
