Never have had a bad experience with Uptown. I'm thankful tho business exists, and I appreciate the process they have in accommodating sellers and buyers alike! The staff is super helpful, and patient. The only thing I would like to change, if possible, would be in the selling portion, if the clothes that are not going to be bought by uptown, if they could ask if seller would like for them to be divided into piles of "absolutely no" and "possibly would buy later." If that makes sense? That way what is an absolute no, could be donated, and the potential pile could be kept for future drop off visits. Other than that I think this is a great business for us here in the CSRA! My family and I will always recommend uptown! read more

This place has so some great finds. I've seen more trendy things at this store than the regular shops at the mall. You can find fun clothes for going out, gym clothes, and even slacks for work. You'll find nice additions to your wardrobe if you check this store every so often. The staff is always friendly and respectful, which makes for a nice change of pace. The store is clean and doesn't smell like a thrift store. The only bone I have to pick is that the clothes tend to lean on the fun, funky or laidback look. It'd be nice to see some more polished, clean cut, trendy looks. If you're concerned about landfills and want to be more conscious of where your clothes go, Uptown Cheapskate is the best option I've found in the area. They at least tell you what will be bought back versus what will be donated, unlike some other consignment/thrift shops I've been to. I used to donate a lot of clothing not knowing where it goes. The buyback/trade in option is great for people who want to trade up their wardrobe or just know their clothes aren't going in a landfill. read more

I visited Uptown with my sister to assist her with finding cardigans...she loves thrift shopping, me on the other hand, not so much. The store is very clean and everything is organized very well. I did check out the prices...the jeans were priced at about $10-$15 and the blouses ranged from $3-$10. They were having a sale on jeans, buy 2 pair get 1 free. My kids were running around like it was a candy store finding dresses (I have a teen and a pre-teen that wears regular sizes). They have clothes, shoes, and accessories and you can also access kid 2 kid from within the store. Parking was ok, the store is located within a plaza that has a grocery store and a call center. read more

When you first get in building they act like they will buy your clothes then afterwards they reject all clothes then say we can donate them if you want. lol that's what a scammer would say. Should be two separate business models. They can easily take clothes as donation instead of paying and hang them up on the rack. I just brought two trash bags worth of high quality name brand very lightly used items within the fashion vibe found in the store and also very spring appropriate. and almost all was rejected. I was told they have a strict 2 year new fashion turnover buy policy. How is this possibly not supporting fast fashion? I am extremely disappointed as a customer. Horrible. I attempted to sell some of my and my mother's clothes. I was told that they don't buy women suits, they tend to cater to the younger crowd. That's fine, but tell your selling customers that upfront. Mary didn't even bother to look at my items, and had the audacity to ask one of those children that works in there,"would you wear this"? The 4 items of mine that passed their stupid test I was offered 11.00 for them. If I wanted to give my items away for nothing, I would have gone to GOODWILL. Some of the items in there should be in Goodwill to. I read your lips woman. I will never go there again, and would not recommend them either. read more

So excited to find this place is a sister company to the Style Encore that was in my old town however Uptown Cheapskate is BETTER! More items, better merchandised and the best part is that they have men's clothing/accessories as well (Style Encore does not have men's items) so my husband could shop around for his own needs while I looked for mine! I recently stopped in because I needed a new white button down shirt. My favorite one by Phillip Lim had gotten too small and was pulling at the buttons the last time I wore it. I hated I had to give it up but it found a new place in my brother's closet since it was an unisex shirt. So I came in and found exactly what I was looking for. I picked up 3 white shirts to decide which one I liked best. I ended up choosing one and it was only $7.99!!! What a bargain!!! I took some like new clothing into this store to sell, they barely looked at the items, packed my items back in the bag and said "we can accept these items at this time". I felt as if they maybe looked at me and was we're not buying her stuff. But they asked to donate my things to charity. I replied no ma'am! I will sell them on poshmark! They gave my husband $21 two pair of brand new expensive sneakers, however, we go in there a week later they're selling the shoes for over $50 each pair. We will never sell or buy anything from them. They have priced their items close to retail prices, you're better off buying the items brand new at a retail store. These people are rude and thieves! They kept my clothes with out my permission and refused to give them back to me. They were supposed to give me a price and I had the right accept or refuse. I told them I would be there to pick them ALL up. They kept the best including a new Michael Kors coat. They were rude beyond description. This is my one of my favorite places to shop. I get all my workout tank tops here because they're good quality and I can't justify spending more than $10 for a tank top. I'll spend hours in here and find a ton of great clothes for really great prices. I love getting store credit when selling my clothes to them too. This place is a rip off if you're selling. They don't seem to have any rationale behind what they are buying and what they are selling. If you walk around the store you see all kinds of stuff lots of it outdated and worn out. I was selling some new items that had never been worn and were name brand and they did not even take a look at them. They were items that were current and very normal so to speak. Also when they finished looking through my stuff they balled then up and threw them back in the bin. They definitely don't make any attempt to keep them neat. I went in to sell dresses I've had and I ended up waiting more than a half hour for them to give me an offer. My husband and I were sitting in the chairs near the dressing room right by the cash register. When I saw that they are all standing around talking I went up to ask when I would be called. They said they called my name (which they didn't). I heard every other person's name but somehow didn't hear my own? My husband told me he didny hear my name either. Sis and I shopped at the Uptown store at 4088 Washington Rd. the day before so we wanted to take a look at this one as well. Yes! More great stuff. I found another cocktail dress with all the original hangtags for about 1/5th the original price and got another freebie piece with the buy two markdowns and get the third one free. That said, I felt that the other store had better quality items. I did notice that some of the tops that I looked at were not in quite as great condition as the other store. BUT, there were lots of really nice things here as well. What we were told is all clothing items brought in must be washed, in good condition (no pilling, fading, etc.), of recent style within about the last 18 months. So yeah, we didn't see anything with fabric flowers all over the front from 6 years ago. One regret is that I didn't pick up the Mark Jacobs bag I saw behind the cashier. :\ Sure would be nice if we had stores like this one in my town. I gave this place 3 stars because they have a large selection. But they're not super friendly or particularly helpful. I came in with multiple bags of good quality clothes and they all just watched me struggle to open the door- no offer to help or anything. Then they picked out 4 items and offered me 20 bucks- for BRAND NEW items. The second time I came I was much more picky about what I brought in. Brand name items with tags still on, a couple unique pieces, and some Nordstrom shoes. They picked a single shirt and two pairs of pants- one with tag still on showing I had paid upwards of 80 dollars and offered...19 dollars. I do not understand their selection process and they didn't try to explain. Much of their inventory is over priced as it is. read more

I enjoyed this location for awhile until the manager, Mary, was rude to the customers. She wasn't rude to me but she asked all of us when we were waiting for our clothes to be finished, "what is everyone doing? Do you need to sell clothes or what?" However, the workers were pleasant and were able to check through my clothes fairly quickly, but as I was about to leave the store a woman who was there before me, waiting while I walked in, was frustrated because she had brought some clothes in and they were in a bin but had to go back to her car to grab another bag of clothes and instead of adding those to the bin, they made her wait at the back of a very long line, so she asked for her stuff back and they told her she was wrong and that she didn't wait that long... looks to me like they're going to lose some business.
