It's like a Kid-to-Kid for GROWNUPS! It's awesome. How am I just discovering this place?? They have a small section with new clothes on top of their large variety of gently used clothing and the prices are all wonderful! I got two brand new shirts for $20! And they were adorable boutique shirts that could've cost $20-30 each. I love this place! So cute and easy to stay within my budget. My biggest complaint with this store (which is totally not their fault) is the horrific smell that lingers right outside the doors. It's truly awful. But it's not their fault. That said, I really like the selection, and they have some great options for men/teenage boys. Sometimes I'll find items that look pretty worn; but they seem to really try and keep "barely worn" items available. Overall, it's good place to find name brands without blowing your budget. read more

I had my first visit to this store today. They had all sorts of used and new clothes to browse through. The staff was very friendly and helped me find just the thing I was looking for. They had a good selection of designer purses and wallets as well as sunglasses. I found a cute coach clutch that I absolutely love. They also had shoes, a variety of sunglasses, and jewelry. Would not suggest selling here. Their employees don't know good brands. They will take worn and used H&M,target, etc. but not barely used clothes from nordstrom, saks, etc. they also give you about $2 for brands like lululemon. Just save yourself some time and sell on Mercari. read more

I've been here a couple of times and have been impressed! They sell gently used and new items which I absolutely love! The store is organized by sizes & items (so dresses are together, workout clothes are together, etc.) Which can get kind of confusing. I absolutely love their selection though as I can definitely find something I want there either in the gently used sections or new sections. Yikes! Not super impressed with the service I received. I walked in with a huge bin of stuff to sell. The employee at the counter was helping someone else, so I stood a bit back waiting. She finished helping the other seller then went on to do something else...I was waiting with this massive bin in my arms for several minutes. I didn't know if I should interrupt what she was doing or not because she had welcomed me into the store. Someone else walked in and the lady greeted her and asked if she was waiting to sell. She said yes, and the lady began to help her. When I had been standing there for over 5 minutes with that bin. :/ I started to walk out of the store and the lady realized what had happened. She apologized and helped me next. Originally I had rated with 2-stars, but I changed it to 3 because I felt like the lady tried really hard after the mishap to make sure I had a good experience. The selection at this uptown location is really good! I love that I can sell my nicer clothes here because sometimes I have a shift in style and I don't want to waste my cute new clothes so it's nice to sell them to get something that suits me. The cosplayer service seems to be pretty good here as well. They have roomy dress rooms and a good layout to have space to shop. read more

They have a pretty good mix of used clothes, but there are a lot of stuff that still have tags on them. The prices are good. My only complaint is that their buying prices aren't always great. Still better than what you would get leaving it in the closer or takin it to DI though. read more

Sometimes they have amazing items in stock, sometimes I go there and the selection is just OK. However for what these guys do, which is have name brand clothes for a decent price, they nail their market. I think uptown cheapskate is way better than Plato's closet, and I'm happy they are around. read more

I have a very hard time shopping for pants because I need a longer length inseam. I had just finished going to 3 different clothing stores and none of them had the right length. I went in to the American Fork location on a whim and really didn't think I'd find ANY pants that would work. I knew I could find some shirts or dresses, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. Imagine my surprise when I found not only one, but TWO pair of pants that fit perfectly!!!! Each pair was only $11.99. This just might be my new favorite place to shop. read more

There are TONS of clothes and unlike most stores that resale they were actually on par with the current fashion trends! The girls working were really helpful and sweet! When I walked in I was promptly greeted and asked if I had ever been in before and if I needed them to show to me around. I have never been asked this before. Usually, I have to ask and they just wave me over to where ever it is. They stopped what ever they were doing to answer my questions. The clothes are extremely affordable to! I didn't know what to expect, but wow! This place is huge! Everything is super clean and well organized.

After losing weight, I took several items--mostly designer, never worn-- to Uptown Cheapskate to sell. While waiting for them to assess the value, I looked through the inventory on the racks. I found a Columbia fleece, same style as my brand-new black one among my items, only worn, discolored and pilled. It was listed at $36.99. After a brief wait, I was called up and presented with a surprising offer. They had rejected ALL but two of the eight items, among them designer shoes (worn once) from Nordstrom Rack: black stiletto ankle boots, high-fashion and still in their original box. Also rejected was a peasant blouse, brand new, again, from Nordstrom. I was told it was too sheer. I suggested a camisole was to be worn underneath it. Still rejected. The jaw-dropper was their offer for a NEW BCBGMAXAZRIA cardigan, black nubby 3/4 length sweater-coat, current high-style, with an original sticker price of $269. Cheapskate bought two items...the cardigan and the Columbia fleece, which the buyer said was not a popular style (the only style Columbia has sold for at least 20 years) LOL. They paid me $8.00 in total. After initially stating that my clothing deposit consisted of brand new items, I was dismissed by the buyer who said we do not know what condition they are in. I told her to look again. . She could not spot my cardigan in their bin. It probably had been quickly dispatched to the back room. This particular buyer must have taken two seconds to look over the clothing and was obviously unfamiliar with what "designer" means... (Perhaps in her mind, Forever 21 is epic fashion.) She tried to tell me that girls did not want sheer clothing. I did not disclose that I had taught high school seniors and was very familiar with their clothing choices, even going as far as enforcing school dress-standards. I could see discussing the transaction was useless. I left with only my shoes, which I will never wear because I had foot surgery and cannot wear heels and the $8.00. I let UTC contribute the remainder of my clothing to charity. I wrote a candid review on Monkey-Survey and will never return to the American Fork store. Furthermore, I do not need to buy their clothing since I have dozens and dozens of items to liquidate and prefer the REAL "McCoy". Maybe I should consider opening a store next door...one with REAL designer clothing and more suitable for the 35+ demographic than the 17-year-olds. I would have expected to be fleeced if I had been in a dark parking lot. I would have expected that something untoward could happen exchanging my goods in a public place having advertised on a social media site; but I did not expect to be treated so unfairly inside Uptown Cheapskate. I have majored and minored in watching fashion trends over the years. I must say that some of the items in the store were not only over-used, but not in the best of taste. I realize it comes down to a buyer's subjectivity. A skirt, identical in style to mine which was rejected, was full-price in a well-known national department store that I visited just after this experience. Finally, I have two recommendations: 1.) If you must sell, sell to the Salt Lake County UTC stores who are more cosmopolitan and know their "stuff". Despite software that helps the stores price their items, there is a difference. AND 2). UTC could possibly change its name to simply "Cheapskate", reflecting the disparity in pricing similar/like items and selling some merchandise more than "gently used"... read more

Uptown is a really great place to shop. I always feel like I find the best deals when I go here. I also get way more for my clothes. TIP: It's a less frustrating experience if you don't try to sell sweaters and boots in April and don't try to sell shorts and tanks in October. They obviously want things they can sell right away. They have really high standards for what they buy, but they pay more for those things. I have purchased countless items from Uptown and will continue to do so. read more

First time coming here that I've been disappointed. There were three people in front of me in the line to try stuff on and more people behind me. I waited for 25 minutes. Come to find out, three of the dressing rooms were empty - yet none of the employees thought to even check to see what the issue was. So I wasted 25 minutes of my time because the employees get no need to see why so many of us were waiting for so long. read more

Uptown Cheapskate is definitely one of my favorites. The only gripes I have with this store, the rude employees and the frustrating dressing rooms. I always find clothing I like here and I almost always leave with several items. It just gets frustrating after awhile dealing with the associates. They're just not very nice individuals. It's also frustrating that they don't have carts or baskets, and waiting around for a dressing room is frustrating, I understand that they are trying to deter theft, but if they could run the dressing rooms more efficiently, and with more patience perhaps, that would be very nice. The dressing rooms are occasionally dirty and the hooks that are available for you to hang your clothes on are sometimes broken. (Also frustrating because you have to put your clothing on the floor). However, with that being said, their selection is great, they have great prices and the main sales floor is usually kept clean and very organized. read more
