Uptown 78 has a different flavor that can range from Ole School music to the latest in R and B, Hip-Hop and, Rap music. The establishment is for the Grown-n-Sexy but, does welcome the young and vibrant. The establishment is well kept and clean, servicing appetizers and burgers. The transformation Uptown 78 undertook a few years ago is amazing. The club welcomes all, has Security on-site but, prefers all customers to treat one another with respect and courtesy. Definitely a tree ally simple and classic place. Not for a crazy night out, but for chilling with drinks and beers for deals. If you are lucky, will find a live band mixing jazz and r&b. I came on a Tuesday... No decoration, but nice people. read more

Karaoke was lots of fun and there was a food truck right outside. Small venue but not crowded. Good customer service and security.

I enjoyed Uptown. I went on a Friday night and there was maybe 30 ppl the whole night.. The feel is laid back, play some pool smoke a cigar and enjoy the sounds of the Dj. Just stopped in for a drink, my first time there. The place looks like a truck stop cafe with old furniture and barely any decor. It was dirty: floors unswept, tables still had drink rings and salt crytals, there were only 3 bar stools at the bar which are tore up. Wit no other patrons inside, the bartender spent most her time on her cellphone and watching TV. Since there were old diner tables and chairs, I asked if they served food, they do not. I am new to San Antonio. A friend told me about this bar. It plays hip-hop (which is what I love), and is not far from where I live. I went by myself, and at first was understandably uncomfortable. But the staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome and safe and at ease. I just figured it was the kind of place you don't really go to alone. The 'bar' itself isn't really designed to sit at. The bar is tall and the bar stools low...That's what I usually do if I go to a bar alone, sit AT the bar and meet new people. But after awhile people did seem to loosen up lol ( I guess the alcohol started kicking in etc). My appletini was real good. The huge annual Fiesta was in town, so it wasn't as crowded as usual (according to staff) and it was storming outside, but it was a good crowd. Lots of fun out on the dance floor!! No drama...just good times. Clean bathrooms, and plenty space. lots of free parking. I will definitely be returning. read more
