A few weeks ago, I dropped of my HP laptop at Uptech because it had become extremely slow during startup. It was taking 15-20 minutes to boot up. In the more recent cases, it would crash during startup. I assume it was loading corrupt drivers or programs we didn't need. After a week for analysis, the Uptech representative called to say we needed a new hard drive, replacement cost of $300. For some reason, that seemed incorrect. I then remembered that a couple of other complaint/comments on their website mentioned the same repair. It just didn't seem correct. I begin to ask around with some of my friends in the IT industry. They recommended downloading the app cclean, a "disk drive cleanup app". After using the app, which I ran multiple times and with various programs being reinstalls, I now have an operating laptop. It is almost as fast as when I bought it from Best Buy. Crockett B. Great service for computer repairs. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, and they are prompt and reliable in doing the work. I had a serious problem with my laptop, and when it still didn't work after their repairs, I decided to trash it. They refunded my repair costs and recycled my laptop for me. My laptop was slower than Christmas. I hated to even try to boot it up. So I finally took it to Uptech and let them upgrade my drive and ram. UpTech made a PC for me. I have had it for about1-1/2 years and it works better than any Dell computer I've owned; I paid about 7 or 800 for the PC. It is fast; haven't had any problems. I've gone here for several years, and they have tried to save me a pretty penny whenever they could. One time, I had a messed up cord, so I dropped by to buy the cord, which was in the tens of dollars. After I selected the cord to buy I showed them the broken cord, and asked if it was the same type just to double check, before I bought it. They said it was, but were asking me why I was getting a new one. I told them the problem, they looked at the old cord, and said it could be easily resolved with a cheap replacement part. They were going to give it to me free, but I asked them how much it was going to cost them, and they said 25 cents. Given that they just saved me tens of dollars, I gave them a dollar and told them to keep the change. read more

As a business manager forced into role of IT I have relied on Uptech Computer for service and parts for 13 years. They helped keep 30 Windows XP machines operating and useful for 10-14 years. They have stood behind their work and their estimates. I have also bought used equipment from them and been delighted/satisfied in every instance. Over the last few years, my computers just seem to give out. Uptech provides quick assistance at a very reasonable rate. They speak directly to you and intend to solve your problem. I buy used computers from them to take overseas for students. This is not the type of place I would normally review. That being said this is a warning to anyone considering using this company. I got absolutely suckered and paid for something that never needed repairing. I am not incredibly computer savvy and trust that when I take it to an "expert" they will be trustworthy. They may be competent, but their customer service is a form of aggression. They hold your computer for days, then when you come in to check and see them working on it, they won't talk to you and tell you they will call you. Not happening, they really want to sell you stuff and take your computer, make a quick fix and sell it. Beyond belief bad service, liars at every step. You could and probably should lose your temper if treated the way they treat people. read more

Avoid at all cost. Took my Dell tower for a diagnostic. The computer would not launch Windows so I figured it was the hard drive. They quoted me $500 for two hard drives, installation, and reinstalling Windows. I decided to get a second opinion from my IT department at work. They told me it was a bad video card. $45 and it works like new. Uptech is a complete ripoff!!! Had to pay them $30 (to get my tower back) for a lie. They will scam you in a heartbeat! DO NOT TAKE YOUR COMPUTER TO THEM!! I was referred to Uptech by a geek squad tech at Best Buy. I figured if Best Buy recommended them then they should be ok, right? Wrong. I initially took my laptop in because my charging port was broken. They did fix my charging port, but when I took it back home I noticed my battery was no longer charging. When I took it back I tried to show him the bars were trying to charge at the bottom of my screen, but then it would just stop. He then tells me my battery was no longer working. There was nothing wrong with my battery. It wasn't doing that before I took it to them. It was charging fine, now it's not charging at all. The "only" issue I had when I took it to them was the charging port needed to be replaced. Now the only way my computer will work is if it's plugged in. I paid them $141 for RUDE service and to hear them try and tell me that it must have been like that before I brought it to them and I should be glad that it's working at all because they fixed the charging port. I KNOW it was not like that before I took it to them. I had no other problems with my computer before they got it. They are the problem and they refuse to own up to or acknowledge their mistakes. AGAIN DO NOT TAKE YOUR COMPUTER THERE. YOU WILL REGRET IT. read more

I have never used Yelp but after describing my experience to a friend I was encouraged to write a review. My experience with these disorganized bozos can politely be described as disappointing. I paid $30 for a diagnostic test. The gentleman who waited on me at drop off and pick up was not only rude and unprofessional he barely spoke English. English helps especially when you would like to know what someone did and what they found. After asking what was found three times I calmly asked him to write down what he was saying and he walked off. Thanks for nothing. A coworker whispered 'that's just his personality' well alrighty then; I suggest you tuck Mr. personality way way back in a closet far from the public if you plan to continue to serve the public which will not include me. I would have gotten more for my $30 if I would have cleaned my screen with 3 ten dollar bills and then threw them in the trash. read more
