In the more recent cases, it would crash during startup. I assume it was loading corrupt drivers or programs we didn't need. After a week for analysis, the Uptech representative called to say we needed a new hard drive, replacement cost of $300. For some reason, that seemed incorrect. I then remembered that a couple of other complaint/comments on their website mentioned the same repair. It just didn't seem correct. I begin to ask around with some of my friends in the IT industry. They recommended downloading the app cclean, a "disk drive cleanup app". After using the app, which I ran multiple times and with various programs being reinstalls, I now have an operating laptop. It is almost as fast as when I bought it from Best Buy. Crockett B. Maybe the time spent on the cleanup process would have cost around $300 in tech time so it is easier for Uptech to sell you a new hard drive. I just don't know. I do know that my laptop is A OK. My phone was going down fast and would not hold a charge and would get extremely hot and shut off. In an age where everything is app driven it made it very diffucult for me, a technically challenged person. I stopped by my service provider for a new phone and they use app to purchase, update, etc which again is difficult because my phone was not cooperating at all. The real issue became the transferring of data from old phone to new. They were not able to get the job done. I stopped in Batteries Plus and was greeted by all the guys. They immediately started looking at the phone discussing back and forth while I sat overwhelmed. Everything I need is on that old phone. Kendrick McVay said let me see that phone and went to work. He worked on that phone while being polite and comical but I could tell he knew what he was doing. He worked around passwords and phone constantly going down and FINALLY my data started to transfer! I cried in the car because they, he just took charge and did the job~ no charge! I thanked them profusely and offered to buy lunch or something, nope he took nothing. After they finally located it, they then told me that they had no battery for me. I asked what the point of the appointment was if it didn't mean they had the battery and they said, "well we had it yesterday but somebody 'transferred' it". What does that even mean? When I said they should have held the battery, the techs answer was, "Well, you never gave us any money for it.". Geez. So super frustrated, I logged onto Apple, made a same day apointment at the apple store and got my battery replaced by lunchtime. Cost me $20 more but worth it not to waste a trip and my time with these clowns. I will never use Batteries Plus again
