I had to get a speaker replaced in my MacBook Pro and it could not have gone better. These guys are professional, friendly, and did a great job. The cost was a bit less than I expected and of course it was very much less than the Apple store would have wanted. They also completed it earlier than they had originally said. I will definitely go back to them if I need anything else. read more

I was freaking out. I had an old G5 that had served me faithfully, but one day rendered a black screen and nothing else. I found Memphis Computer Shop online. I saw they were a Mac certified shop. I called and talked with Chip. Bring it on in he said, which I did. The place was spacious, clean and cool inside. Chip told me about the diagnostic fee of a hundred bucks. which I did NOT have to pay up front. If I could get my data, that would be ideal and well worth it I thought. He called a short while later, said my motherboard was bad and not worth fixing, but the data was still there and he could transfer it for me. I had most but not all of the gold backed up, so I was happy with the news. I could not have asked for more timely, efficient or friendly service. I had an outstanding customer experience. read more

Memphis Computer Shop was founded by Ryan Goudy and John Beckham to serve the needs of the Apple community in the Memphis area. Our goal is to deliver quality service, sales and technical support to our clients no matter how big or small. With over 25 years of combined experience we can offer our customers experience in a variety of fields from advertising to education.

Meet the Business Owner: John B.

John has 15 years of Apple service and sales experience. He has worked for local service providers and also worked for Shelby County Schools as the lead project manager of the "Computer in every Classroom" project. For the past 5 years John worked for a local service provider where he was responsible for all service department issues including employee management, inventory, repairs, customer service and business systems support. In addition to managerial duties he also handles business server support and training. John currently holds certifications for both Macintosh Hardware and Software Support, Apple Certified Technical Coordinator status, Apple Product Professional as well as a LightSpeed Certified Technical Coordinator.

In the more recent cases, it would crash during startup. I assume it was loading corrupt drivers or programs we didn't need. After a week for analysis, the Uptech representative called to say we needed a new hard drive, replacement cost of $300. For some reason, that seemed incorrect. I then remembered that a couple of other complaint/comments on their website mentioned the same repair. It just didn't seem correct. I begin to ask around with some of my friends in the IT industry. They recommended downloading the app cclean, a "disk drive cleanup app". After using the app, which I ran multiple times and with various programs being reinstalls, I now have an operating laptop. It is almost as fast as when I bought it from Best Buy. Crockett B. Maybe the time spent on the cleanup process would have cost around $300 in tech time so it is easier for Uptech to sell you a new hard drive. I just don't know. I do know that my laptop is A OK. My phone was going down fast and would not hold a charge and would get extremely hot and shut off. In an age where everything is app driven it made it very diffucult for me, a technically challenged person. I stopped by my service provider for a new phone and they use app to purchase, update, etc which again is difficult because my phone was not cooperating at all. The real issue became the transferring of data from old phone to new. They were not able to get the job done. I stopped in Batteries Plus and was greeted by all the guys. They immediately started looking at the phone discussing back and forth while I sat overwhelmed. Everything I need is on that old phone. Kendrick McVay said let me see that phone and went to work. He worked on that phone while being polite and comical but I could tell he knew what he was doing. He worked around passwords and phone constantly going down and FINALLY my data started to transfer! I cried in the car because they, he just took charge and did the job~ no charge! I thanked them profusely and offered to buy lunch or something, nope he took nothing. After they finally located it, they then told me that they had no battery for me. I asked what the point of the appointment was if it didn't mean they had the battery and they said, "well we had it yesterday but somebody 'transferred' it". What does that even mean? When I said they should have held the battery, the techs answer was, "Well, you never gave us any money for it.". Geez. So super frustrated, I logged onto Apple, made a same day apointment at the apple store and got my battery replaced by lunchtime. Cost me $20 more but worth it not to waste a trip and my time with these clowns. I will never use Batteries Plus again

straight up. this guy needs to go back to school. i purchased a laptop from this guy. after 10 days…read morei brought it back because it stopped working. when i brought it back, also brought an older computer to have it checked out. the older computer had an extra battery. he looked at it switched batteries to check out the older laptop. after he exchanged the broken laptop and helped putting the older laptop in the bag i had both laptops in and left. when i got home later i couldn't find the extra battery. i searched my car and the house. two weeks later i returned the 2nd laptop because it also stopped working. i returned and brought the laptop back and asked if i left the battery from the older laptop. he said, no. when i handed the 2nd laptop to him and he handed me the 3rd laptop. i took it home and charged it up only find out this 3rd computer wasn't working at all. i then took it to another repair store only find out that it didn't have a hard drive and the screws weren't even in the back of the 3rd computer. save yourself and good someplace else.
