Good place for a New York slice in the city - I tried the pepperoni vodka slice and it was pretty good. The crust is crispy, not too thin and not too thick, but still doughy. Overall if you want an authentic NY slice, Upside Pizza is a good place to start!

Garlic Knots

I am in search of the tastiest garlic knots in the City. After a homemade salad lunch and still peckish, I ventured to the midtown Stavros Niarchos library. On 40th Street there is an Upside Pizza. Having eaten a tasty garlic knot at the branch in Nolita, I decided to have one here. $1 for one knot. Inexpensive. I ate it there but it wasn't in any way as tasty as the one over the weekend. The knot looked rather grey and sad. Izzy, the pizza server, is friendly and didn't bat an eye with my order. My hunt continues.

Classic NY Style Neopolitan Pie

It's surprisingly difficult to find a pizza purveyor offering classic NY Neapolitan-style (foldable) pizza made with quality ingredients, without weird fruity "organic farm to table" toppings and the like. Finally my search is over with Upside Pizza. My large plain Neapolitan pie had a crunchy thin crust and the perfect ratio of tangy sauce to nicely browned melty cheese. Quick service and moderate pricing too. Glad I found them.

Slice of Pepperoni. Slice of Mushroom.

We loved the pizza so much, we came back. 1st day we shared a slice of mushroom and a slice of pepperoni and we loved it. 2nd visit we each grabbed our own slice. Super casual place to grab a slice of pizza. It's not a big spot so seating is limited. Counter service but it's quick. You do have to wait a few minutes for the slices, but it comes out HOT.

Upside pizza had a really great crust. The cheese just melts into your mouth. Place is small but reasonable amount of searing for a quick lunch break. There is comfy chairs/stools to sit in. The service is fast you may wait in a small line but your pizza will pop in the oven and it'll be heated up in minutes then your good to go.

Mushroom, WWLC. Upside Down Sicilian

First time in New York and when you're hungry at 9:30 pm you go for pizza. As it happened this one was right near our hotel and thankfully open! Slices are on display for view and then get reheated in their oven before serving either on plates to dine in or in a box to go. Tired as we were, we opted to go with a slice of mushroom pizza and a slice of an upside down Sicilian; a deep dish cheese with the sauce on top of the cheese. Mushroom is the quintessential New York slice, big and perfect to fold. Mushrooms are plentiful and the dough got some crunch from the oven. The deep dish is a crunch around the square edges and simple but comforting. The guy behind the counter that served us was a help in finding us a cheese still available. Recommended for late night eatings and a grab and go!

Slice of Cheese and Pepperoni

Excellent on the go quality Pizza; a solid 4/4.5. And just as good if not better than any stand-in long a*s line for just a slice of pizza joint. Late Wednesday evening, prompt friendly service, no wait and reasonably priced. Only a few tables inside and stools along the window.

They warm up the pizza in the oven once you order it so it's always warm and crispy! Nice pepperoni cups

We went to this spot after Summit One and it was a solid pizza spot in the middle of Manhattan with seating available.

The arancini was a standout: perfectly crisp on the outside, creamy inside, and served with a rich, delicious sauce that tied it all together. We ended on the tiramisu, which was absolutely worth saving room. It was light, flavorful, and a perfect finish to the meal. What really elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful--especially notable for New York--and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming. A small heads-up: it's a bit tricky to find, so give yourself extra time. That said, the hidden, underground subway setting is part of the charm and makes the whole experience feel unique. I'd love to see more restaurants creatively use these kinds of spaces in the future.

It is located right in the hallway of a subway entrance, next to a bar and across from a coffee shop, and it somehow manages to feel like a cozy, sit-down restaurant right in the middle of NYC. Don't let the odd location fool you, the food here is outstanding. The Neapolitan and Sicilian-style pizzas are both exceptional, with rich, well-balanced flavors and perfectly executed crusts. Every bite tastes high quality. Also, don't skip the house-made lemonade! The experience is even better because of the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. They were all so kind to so many people. From offering to keep leftovers in the fridge until a customer was done at their broadway show, to offering a scone to a young child while he and his father waited for their pizza to be done, it was more than just flipping a table and onto the next tip, it was humanity at its best. Be sure to give See No Evil Pizza a try. You certainly will want to come back again for more.
