Within 15 minutes of getting to "know" me, he wanted to put me in medication that 1, I didn't ask, 2. I didn't need and 3. Didn't want. He made it cleared that if I didn't get this medication, then he wouldn't prescribe the medication that I wanted. I got the medication but it did nothing for me. The medication was for a medical condition that I did showed any signs of, yet alone had anything. I had to see him about 2-3 times and I would tell him that I didn't need that particular medication. But he insisted that it will help me, which it never did. When I spoke to my therapist that if I still needed to see him, he told me that no, I was not required to see him to continue getting treatment with my therapist. I stop seeing him the minute I was told I didn't have to continue seeing him.

I'm extremely hurt & confused with the 2nd appt I never got to have…read more On 6/4/2025, I had my first couples' therapy session with Baylee Taylor, one of the student therapists. There were lots of things said throughout that initial session, but it was mostly an introduction of ourselves, which I expected. Towards the end of the session, she advised individual therapy, which we scheduled for today (6/11/2025) at 6:00 PM & for my partner the next day (6/12/2025). Later that night, we received an email from her that she's referring us to individual therapy & that our couples' therapy appt will be canceled. I was fine with the couples' therapy being canceled because I thought we did schedule the INDIVIDUAL therapy sessions. I can see both sides, but given the fact that we were the people needing HELP, I think it's always best to give your clients a call, leave a message (voicemail or text), then send an email explaining what's going on. Leading up to today, I was excited. I took notes, ready to share with her. I just needed some guidance. Although I'm depressed, have ADHD and anxiety, I want to move forward with myself in a way. I called earlier today to make sure I had an appt (because I was unsure). I had a follow-up call around 4 confirming that I did have an appt, so I was relieved. I was trying to hurry, but I was running late. I arrived at 6:07 PM. No one was at the reception desk. I tried saying "hello?" several times & even walked down the hall to see if someone could help me. 10 mins then 20+ mins went by.. Someone arrived for their appt and their respective therapist. I had actually asked him if he could help me, but he was just as confused because he only rents the space out. It's not his fault. I left because I was clearly forgotten. I don't know what happened, but I'm incredibly hurt. Why? Because I took time off of work to be there, I left my dog in someone else's (plus, she got hurt & I still had to leave because of the appt), I called & confirmed (idk who it was but it was a young, female voice that answered), I had a huge headache, I had notes ready, I was open. I really hope that I wasn't charged for today's non-existent appt. I'm sure there was 100% miscommunication that happened. I understand she was a student therapist, so she's still learning? I would advise for you to find someone that makes sure you understand what is going on, how things are happening. Have someone who calls and explains. Because just like text messaging someone, the message might not be understood properly. Even with Baylee in the picture, there was no one in the reception desk to guide me or help me understand what happened.

I went to therapy because my family's behavior…read moreis genuinely dangerous to my mental health, and past contact has caused PTSD episodes, destabilization, and even medical emergencies. Multiple therapists and psychiatrists told me 'everything is fine' or implied that I was safe to reconnect with them, and that advice made me drop my guard. When I did, my parents reverted to the exact same abusive patterns--accusations, manipulation, abandonment, and financial coercion--which triggered a severe relapse. I ended up overwhelmed, unable to think clearly, unable to work, and I required emergency care. Now I have significant medical bills and my functioning is disrupted. Minimizing the danger didn't help me heal; it put me back into trauma. Telling me 'everything is fine' was not support--it was a dismissal that caused real harm.

I was desperately searching for something..anything..that might help to save our relationship, and her specialty in couple's coaching represented my very last resort. Jaclyn shocked us both, by calling within hours of receiving my email..on a Saturday morning. I could hear the caring in her voice immediately, for two people she had not even met. She spent an hour on the phone, first with me and then us both on speaker, and her soft listening style was punctuated with direct, simple questions. That phone call changed our downward-spiral trajectory, and starting us talking again after our long silence. By the time we met with her a few days later, we had already made significant progress. Over the course of our sessions together, she then helped us make much more. In everything she said, and in everything she did, she left an indelible imprint of positivity upon me, and in the most memorable way, reinforced it's awesome power. In the world of personal counseling, where everybody seems so impersonal, Jaclyn stands out before she even says a word.
