First positive: My stylist was ready for me at appointment time. She consulted with me fully and didn't make me feel bad about my opposing cowlicks! Katrice understood exactly what I requested & she also gave me a few lite suggestions that were excellent. She is professional and knowledgeable. She quickly got started on my highlights and worked to incorporate them into my previously colored hair. After the consult and allotted time for My highlights, I was taken to the shampoo bowl where I received the best shampoo & toning from Kailey. She explained everything she was doing prior to doing it; she asked about my comfort; she made sure to tell me she'd be gone for a minute or two while waiting for the to I g. She conferred with Katrice & I received a nice neck massage after lifting from the bowl. Back to the chair and Katrice dried my hair before cutting my bangs( I asked for a dry cut). She did an excellent job and left me feeling incredible about my hair! She is a true artist and professional. I will be driving back from OKC every 6-8 weeks to see her. It's worth the drive! Thanks Gould's - you have 2 superstars in Kailey & Katrice!

I was scheduled for a massage, for which I arrived 5 minutes late (according to bank clocks,…read moreComcast time, etc.), and the massage therapist was incredibly rude. I was prepared to apologize, accept 5 minutes off my time, no problem. But she chewed me out in front of everyone in the salon, during which all employees and customers stopped what they were doing to listen, offered only 20 minutes (do they not build in a few extra minutes for changing clothes and such?), then when I declined, stormed out. My friend and I decided we did not feel comfortable staying for manicures and pedicures, so we went elsewhere. I really tried to give the benefit of the doubt. Later I attempted to speak with the owner/manager and explain that I felt we were treated poorly. She said she was standing there the entire time, we were late, we should have called (five minutes, really?), and chewed me out AGAIN. I told her she had just lost two people's hair business on top of the other business. She said she wasn't going to listen to it, and she hung up on me. I had one witness to the incident in the store and three to the phone conversation. Nobody could believe it. I tried very hard to make this right, to give the benefit of the doubt, but apparently this is how they do business. If you want to be treated with respect, I strongly advise you go elsewhere. I can accept that I was a few minutes late, and that was my fault (we thought we knew where it was, but we did not exactly), but all of that information could have been communicated in a professional and courteous manner instead.

Then the hairdresser called in the owner Michelle for advice on how to proceed. Michelle was adamant about 3 color changes otherwise my hair couldn't be done. Before starting I asked about pricing and Michelle said it would be at least $225 without style or cut. Fine but I only had $200 and I really needed a cut. So I asked her if we can just do one process and the cut instead. Or if i needed to call my husband so he can bring more cash. The place didn't take credit cards or so i was told. At that point, michelle got snappy and told me that I don't appreciate the work that needs to be put in. Also that it would take a whole day. And concluded that and I quote: " we won't provide any services for you, thank you, you can go" I asked about getting a haircut but she insisted. " no, I'm not comfortable having the stylist working on your hair. I don't want you to blame us or write a bad review" I was in tears. I was not offered other option, no one suggested anther appointment. Once I walked out, I went to the Salon at Macy's in Collierville. A young lady named Gabrielle took me in and in two hours, and a free deep treatment and a superb pixy cut I was platinum blonde no brass no ruined hair and it was $80. I left Gabrielle a 50% tip I was so happy. Here attached are the pics from my haircut and color at the salon @ Macys NOT at ALa Mode. So unless you want to spend a boat load of $$$ for something that can be done elsewhere faster better and with less BS and pretentious airs - stay away. Not to mention that the receptionist in question was Michelle's daughter and she simply hung up on my husband when he called to get an explanation for why I was so distraught. Twice. There are better salons and better mannered and skilled real professionals out there.
