My 15 years old daughter and her 2 friends ordered food to eat in around 9 pm. Despite the clear door signn(and Google info) that the place is open until 10 pm they were asked to leave at 9-30 pm on a very cold night without a ride. While we understand people wanted to go home earlier, there should be no excuse for such service. How can the place like this continue to survive in Lexington Center ? read more

What happened to this place? It was so great. Has it changed hands? They are always good about taking orders over the phone and the wait is decent (15 mins.) but the pizza was terrible. The sauce did not seem fresh and I kept biting into rock like chunks of garlic that must have been old and it overflavored the entire margarita pizza, which is usually pretty mild. They are pretty busy so I can't understand it. For over $20 for a very thin pizza - way overpriced too. read more

A four star pizzeria based on the food, a no star review based on the service. We've been customers for a long time at this location. Things have ebbed and flowed as management has changed, menus have changed. Through it all the pizza has been reliable which is why we keep coming back. The online ordering form on this location's website offers takeout or delivery. Tonight we picked delivery. It said an hour long wait, so we waited. And waited. At 75 minutes, I called the store AND NO ONE PICKED UP. I waited 15 more minutes and called again, AND NO ONE PICKED UP. Tried one more time, then got in my car and drove to Lexington Center. Where they had a staffed store, my order, and a manager(?) who explained, "We've tried to get them to take the delivery off the website, but we can't do it when it's raining like this." (Friend, it was barely sprinkling.) No apology. No attempt to call us. No money off the next order. If I hadn't driven in to see what was going on with our order, I wonder if we would have ever seen either our food or our money back. There's something seriously rotten with the management here that this happened. The food is still seriously good, but the service just earned the first bad review I've posted on Yelp. read more

Got a 14" 1/2 plain, 1/2 caramelized onions and ground sausage. Really good, crust not too charred on the bottom.

In my humble opinion, this is the best cheese pizza I've had in the Boston suburbs, and I've lived in this region for 20+ years.

The gluten free pizza is the best in the area in both size and quality. We always pickup but they also have delivery.

We are always looking for Catering options including a great pizza delivery with alternate meal choices for every palate. So, we tried Upper Crust twice. Using the online ordering and scheduling tool was challenging as it continually changes the delivery time defaulting to 'NOW' if you make a change while finalizing your order. That aside, the pizza is GOOD. Delivery... with a hefty tip, WELL BELOW AVERAGE with a very cranky delivery person. My last order included cookies. EVERY SINGLE COOKIE was burned black on the bottom. Shame on you Upper Crust for knowingly sending "David's" burned cookies. For all of the related challenges, we won't be using Upper Crust any time soon. read more

Ordered here twice and while the food is great it's not worth the headache. First time I ordered I did Online pickup, came to get my food when their system alerted me it was ready, only to arrive and find that they hadn't even started cooking it yet. Had to take up an extra 25 min of my lunch break waiting for my pizza. Second time I ordered via Uber eats (cheesy bread and wings) and the wings never arrived. Called them and woman on the phone said it was Uber Eats' fault and that they don't make wings (even though their website says they do??) and that I had To take it up with them. Grabbed a veggie & cheese slice last Thursday for a quick lunch bite. Pizza slices are extremely thin and skimpy on the cheese and toppings. One "slice" is really a double in width so at least you feel like you get your moneys worth. Tiny inside- much more of a takeout place. Not sure what other pizza places are around but I'd prob check other options. read more

We found a pube or beard hair on our pizza (shown in photo), had a missing part of our order, and our order showed up an hour late. Would never return. I heard terrible things about the Burlington location so maybe that's why it shut down. I shouldn't have ordered from Upper Crust since it's now past 10pm and I have nothing to eat. read more

Food is always good but....what's going on here lately? Called for a pick-up order 3 times with no answer so decided to go in person. Sweet lady at register but was clearly in over her head. Place was a mess front of the house and back! Food and trash all over the place. Lots of yelling between staff in ? Spanish. Was pretty chaotic. Thin crust is made the right way so these guys earn bragging rights for that. There is enough toppings so satisfactory there, too. I like the way it's sliced into 16 pieces vs the usual 8. The reason I gave two stars is because of the salt overload. They must dump a load of salt into every pie because every time I've ordered (about 3-4 times), their pies taste extraordinarily salty. After dining on their pizza, I spend the rest of the evening drinking lots of water, I assume because of the salt. read more

I've been living in the Boston area since 1990 and was raised on NYC/NJ pizza, so the bar is set high for me. I've only had Upper Crust twice and both times have been delicious and aaaaalmost there. BUT delivery took 2 hours?!?! I understand it was dinnertime on a Saturday and things can get hectic, but I managed a pizza place for 2 years in the 90s and at worst it was an hour. We ordered Pizza takeout and they told us 30 minutes, which is already a lot for take out. We ordered a simple Margherita. We came to pick up the order exactly after 30 minutes and were told it is not ready and it would take another 10 minutes. The simple pizza was ready after another 15 minutes... a total of 45 minutes, for take-out, not delivery. This isn't good service. read more

I ordered a simple pizza at 5, ready in 20 minutes. When I got there the young girl said it would be 15 minutes. My husband and I killed the 15 minutes and I went back in to be ignored by the young thing who was busy taking phone orders and walking back and forth to the ovens. People came and went, got their orders, but I was stuck along with a delivery guy will a pile of pizzas who was there when I first came in and still there when I finally, after 45 minutes, got an answer. Oh look, she said! He's starting it now! Cancel the order I said and watched to be sure she did. This place is ridiculous. Hire an adult at the register who can give an honest answer as to how long it will take for your order. but it won't matter to me because I won't be going back. read more

The good: Pizza was ready on time and the guy was friendly enough. The bad: The guy who rang me up had absolutely filthy dirty hands. Like over the top disgustingly dirty. Mind you, he was sitting in the customer area watching tv, not working when I came in. Looking at the stainless steel appliances as I was rung up, they were all covered in caked on grime that looked to be well over a year old. The kitchen area in general had some seriously questionable hygiene and was not clean (mind you this was at 2pm). On to the pizza which I was looking forward to eating. Immediately tasted what I can only describe as burnt plastic. Tried several other pieces and there was something totally rank/spoiled on that pizza. I through it out. I have never in my life thrown out a pizza, never mind a $25 dollar one. Please don't bother getting something here and take the 1 start ratings seriously, unless you want to risk getting sick. I have no idea what has happened to this place in the last 3 years. The pizza was the best and would drive some distance to get it. Pretty shocking and disappointing experience. I have issues with their process... I placed an online order her on Jul 25th, around 9:40ish... and I got a call back that they cannot deliver tonight because it's too late for them... that's fair, I can understand... However, I was told that I'll get a refund in 3-4 days, which I never got, till date. After calling them few times, I never get a hold of the manager, and they're not refunding my money for the order that was NOT delivered... It tells me that their process is broken... Once again, upper Crust delivered half the order. Today they had "no chicken"... what restaurant that serves chicken, has none! It's not an exotic thing and it's a main menu item! Ok, stuff happens... it's how they handle it: Instead of telling us or offering an option they charged for everything and delivered to our house half of the order. This is a business whose time has come. They had zero remorse. Can't wait till some hard working pizza family to opens a reliable place that puts some love into the food experience, and delivers what we order. Until then we well go elsewhere. These guys used to have terrific pizza but over time things went downhill. Tried UC again after hearing that they were under new management only to have a(nother) disappointing experience. Ordered 2 pizzas (with a discount spent $32!) which were delivered hot within 45 minutes - yay. But the pizza was not cooked all the way through and one was SO bad that the raw dough stuck to the bottom of the box! Trying to get slices out was impossible as the dough stretched and the toppings fell off. Had to throw the whole thing out. Sent this feedback to the restaurant and asked for a credit, indicating I'd try them again another time. Never got a credit or an apology nor did they try to make amends. Upscale pizza?? I hate to say it, but the recent one star reviews are spot on. Ordered delivery on June16. Order was delayed 40 minutes beyond the quoted delivery time. Order was missing multiple items and the caprese was a pile of old arugula with a few small pieces of mozzarella. I called and requested they refund my card the missing items, no refund yet. This used to be a great option for pizza and salad but it has completely fallen apart. I don't recommend it at all. read more

At around 2:00 pm on May 15, 2024 during a slow Wednesday afternoon I ordered a 14" pepperoni and onion pizza in person. I always do so in person because they don't take phone orders for cash sales. I was presented with my order that as it turned out was not mine. The box had several soiled spots on it and there was a name written on the box that was not mine. The pizza I was given had no pepperoni on it and the pizza was stone cold. Obviously they tried to switch my order with one they had sitting around. I say this because it is the second time I have experienced this at this location. I noticed the problem while driving home (I pulled over to look) and returned to the Lexington Upper Chef and put the box on their counter,opened it and asked where the pepperoni was. The head chef though scolding me for dropping the box on the counter was unnecessary while failing to make any attempt to apologize or indicate how they intended to respond with any further service. Without going into specific details I suspect this fellow has a grudge to grind with me because I like to watch while they make and cook pizza's. His eventual service response was to cook me another pizza upon which I responded that I no longer wanted their pizza and asked for my money back. The front counter guy did so immediately and I left while the head chef continued barking his disapprovals. Leave it to say I will not be buying here again. I will not be buying pizza from this Upper Crust again. Today I stopped in and ordered a slice of cheese to go. I wasn't really paying attention so I took the pizza and left. On the way out to the car I had the impression that the pizza wasn't hot but I was really ready to get home. I got home a few minutes later and discovered that the pizza hadn't been heated at all. I decided give them a call. Finally got routed to the local store and I said "I was just there a few minutes ago and I ordered a slice of cheese to go. I was wondering why you didn't heat it up?" The response given, in an annoyed tone, was "I don't know because it wasn't me that gave it to you". Now mind you, there were only like 3 employees in the place when I was there so I said "OK, I believe that the person was a tallish woman". The response was "well, that isn't me". Case closed. I came back here once the restaurant opened under new management in hopes that it would redeem itself. What prompted me to return, you ask? The $5 off coupon that came in the mail. I gladly put my order in for a large State House pizza, and was quoted a pickup time of half an hour at 6:30PM on a Friday evening. I had my doubts about this. Hoping to be proven wrong, I arrived for my pickup and lo-and-behold, it was ready! The cashier opened the box to show me the condition of the pizza, and I happily paid and left. Now, I only live 6 minutes away from the shop. By the time I got home, the pizza was cold. I should have known that something was off when the pizza wasn't emitting much heat from the box, but I was so excited to get my order within 5 minutes of arriving that I didn't even notice the temperature anomaly.
