This cafe has two things going for it. It is set in an absolutely beautiful square room of Georgian proportions with a high stuccoed ceiling. It also serves very good, fresh, sandwiches in - be warned - big portions. There are depressingly few places which will serve grilled tomato with your bacon roll, but this is not one of them. And a generous sausage sandwich came in two huge hunks of delicious crusty bread. But this cafe has a very down to earth atmosphere and is anything but pretentious. I hope we were not just lucky and look forward to a repeat visit. I am ashamed to say i was relieved by the slightly incongruous large flat screen tvs on opposite walls (happily, there was no sound) as they kept my toddler entertained watching the Lord Mayor's Show and allowed me a coffee in relative peace.
Update: one week later, I notice this cafe, one of the nicest i have been to in Perth, is sadly closed. read more
