The 3 D's. Dismaying, disappointing, deplorable. We came with a tour group of 20 persons, notified…read morewell in advance. We were seated and given a lovely bread board with so-so bread, butter patties and no bread plates. Where shall I put my bread? On the table that they just wiped with disinfectant, or on my service paper napkin, since there is no bread plate. A refill of bread was presented with no more butter. Our set menu was two types of soup (potato leek and Cullen sink. Main choices were chicken pie, roasted BEET, and venison sausage. The mini portion of soup was good, then the mains came out. First off the mains were served on dessert plates. Those who ordered chicken pie received what would be a $2 sausage roll with some sauce veloute and two tablespoons of chicken. I changed my order to sausage, and was told 15 minutes, please. The venison sausage served atop whipped potatoes were good. Then the dessert, the piece de resistance. Either sticky toffee pudding /cake or raspberries, whisky ice cream. The sticky was a cake mix from the shelf. There was no ice cream but a scoop of whipped cream with two When asked where's the whisky ice cream they said "oh golly" perhaps the cook forgot to put it on the plate. So they brought out mini bowls that wouldn't fill an ice cream cone, with standard vanilla ice cream. Service was fine for a tour type dinner. They are severely understaffed. At the end of every adventure, I ask myself "would I return". ? They could not pay me to eat there again, although I would happily employ the barman's services regularly

Talk about a diamond in the rough! What a gem! We were in Dundee on a Weds in Sept. for a day and…read moredecided to go to Broughty Castle towards the end of the day. After our castle tour, we looked for a local place to have dinner before driving back to Dunkeld. Forgan's was such a wonderful surprise. Our party had the lemon and herb Chicken along with the Shepard's pie. My wife and I both agree it was excellent. The lamb based pie was one of the best I've ever had. We had the Haggis appetizer and topped it all off with a pint of Forgan's own brew. Dessert was toffee pudding and the chocolate mousse. All very good. The ambiance is sophisticated and beautifully decorated. Service was very nice but bit slow. However, should one be in a hurry when on vacation? Be careful, the restaurant is large but its front end is small so you could easily drive/walk by and not see it. Definitely would recommend Forgan's to anyone visiting the nearby castle, beach, or Dundee.

My first visit to Dundee and my friend decided to take me to this place for dinner since it…read moresupposedly is highly recommended. I love tapas and can't be in Spain right now so I was like hell yea! The place has a wine and cocktail menu-the wine list was ok, the cocktail list was better. I got a drink called jack punch which was a couple of different rum with pineapple juice, was pretty good...definitely had a punch! My friend and I ordered the tasting menu which was a mix of meat and seafood. We got so much food I couldn't eat it all. They have us around 15-20 little dishes to eat which included jamon, potatas bravas, chicken, hake, shrimp, kebab, cheese, and bread. The serving was good for two people and the food was good, some better than others. There was no one dish that screamed AMAZING to me... It was all pretty much had decent flavours. It is a good tapas place especially if you're in Dundee, just a bit out of the way if you're staying in city centre and don't have a car. The staff were all nice and made sure we kept eating. Overall the place is a good spot to nibble on things while catching up with a friend or friends in Dundee.

Really great fresh seafood options! Definitely a must if you are a seafood lover. We also really…read moreenjoyed the nice wine selection. I love that it's not only a restaurant but also a seafood market so if you are just looking to takeout or bake fish at home it's a great option. The inside of the restaurant was nice nothing too fancy but modern and clean. Service was very attentive and nice. We did not feel rushed even though when I booked they had a note saying a time limit. This seemed common at most restaurants we booked in Scotland though so maybe it's more of common place. Overall if we are ever back in St. Andrew's we will be back.

My past experiences with grilled sea bass was that it was dried out, but that was not the case here. It was prepared really well. My daughter had the mussels and was happy with that. My wife had the Tabbouleh Salad with Halloumi and she loved that. Also ordered the Crispy Potatoes with Dill Mayo side and that was very good. Good service and nice environment. Also has a fish market at the front of the store that you can purchase meats to go. Definitely would recommend a stop in here.
