Superfood salad
Morgan D.

We stopped into Mitchell's after walking the golf course at Saint Andrew. It looked like it had the most options for our variety of tastes in the group. We were all able to order what we wanted, but the food did take two hours to come out to our table. They were very accommodating as I asked for some substitutions. I was searching for some healthier options and this place has some great ones! They even substituted some items on the salad I ordered to go above and beyond. The wait staff was very nice, just not as quick on the little things; meaning time it took to place our orders and waters were not filled, etc. The Venue itself is set up nicely. We were all pleased with our meal!

Pretty good. Service slow but only had 1 or maybe 2 servers. Gin drink was amazing. Chicken had about 2 bites worth of meat. Nice atmosphere. They tried hard. Pretty noisy. Locals appeared to be eating burgers. Looked pretty good.

The restaurant itself is very cute, i think that it a great place for drinks or maybe an afternoon snack. My family and I went for dinner and the food took a very long time (2 hours in fact). When it finally came out the fish and chips was just batter. A lil disappointed.

This review is just about the drinks I had at Mitchell. I ordered a cocktail called "wake up call" which was made of vodka, one shot of espresso and kahlua. It also included a shot of flavoured syrup of choice either caramel, vanilla, or hazelnut. The drink was decent. Not too strong, but well blended. I was disappointed with the drink cause it didn't give me a buzz and wasn't sure about the amount of alcohol it had in it. For £6.50 I was hoping it would give me a decent buzz but nada. The restaurant is well decorated with attentive servers.

Luckily that is what we came in for! We both opted for a Steak & Ale pie and it lived up to expectations. The only bad thing was waiting a bit for some steam to escape so it could cool down enough to eat! The flaky pastry was amazing and we both ate every bit of our pies. It was everything you would want- tender steak, rich gravy, well cooked potatoes and peas. Service was good as well, so no complaints for our visit on any front. Atmosphere was lively and tables are close enough to strike up a conversation with your neighbor. Back in the states now and only wishing we could stop by for another pie.

We ended up being seated outside, which was fine, nothing great about the atmosphere out there besides being in St. Andrews. For food, we had the Steak & Ale Cri Pie, which was good, but not great. I believe this is one of the things they are known for. Again good, but I've had better elsewhere. Also had the Cullen Skink, which was excellent. That is my favorite Scottish dish and this one didn't disappoint. My daughter had nachos, which apparently is a big thing with the kids in Scotland, and she liked those. Criterion is one of her favorite restaurants as a student at St. Andrews. Service was good. Overall, was a good meal.

It was Father's Day and my dad's more of a steak-on-the-bbq kinda guy than fine dining, so I did some research and found this place. Less than a 10-minute drive from the touristy bustle of St Andrews, it seemed ideal for our lunch stop. The wait for a table for 4 at the Steak House was 45 minutes, which we agreed to and happily wandered around the farm shop to kill time. After we were seated, however, the REAL waiting game began. The menu is simple, with basically 4 different cuts of steak available and a burger option, so it didn't take us long to decide we'd all go for rib eye steaks. It took the server 10 minutes to come back and take our orders, and another 15 minutes after that for our drinks to arrive. That wasn't the worst part... our meals (nothing fancy - 4 grilled steaks on wooden boards with chips) took another HOUR after that!! Nobody checked on us while we were waiting to apologise for the delay, or ask if we wanted to order more drinks. We sat there with empty glasses, having nursed our beers as long as humanly possible. In summary, we arrived at 12:45pm, seated by 1:30pm and weren't served our meals until 3pm. It was absolutely ridiculous and unfortunately I just didn't feel that the management/staff did enough to make up for it to warrant a return trip for me.
