Everyone here is so pleasant. Smiling, efficient. Our orders arrived quickly just as we wanted them. A casual eatery next to the fabled golf course and fabulous hotel. A simple Caesar salad with salmon and sausage and mash were just the ticket after a long day of traveling. read more

Quaint little corner pub at St. Andrew's Hotel, Old Course. We went in for lunch, very charming Scottish atmosphere full of classic b&b golf photos and tartan. I ordered the Hamburger, that came with (fries) chips. It looked good, it was a double patty that had a strange consistency, very firm and bland, I was very disappointed especially at 22 pounds! My friend got the Salmon and it came with mashed potato and broccolini, she loved it. Waiter was good, friendly and accommodating. Priceless. My father's number 1 bucket list item was to play golf at the Old Course in St Andrew's with all of the experiences that go with it. A meal at The Jigger Inn was icing on the cake. Cool monument to the living history that is St. Andrews. This pub dates back to 1852. Just ignore the oddly southwest-styled hotel someone decided to attach to it. Walls are lined with photographs of historic moments on the course. Patio is right on the course -- I opted to sit there and enjoy a pint. We are staying at The Old Course Hotel here in St. Andrew's Scotland. There is more golf history here than any place I've ever been to, including Pebble Beach. The Jigger Inn located overlooking the famous 17th hole (The Road Hole) has amazing Pub Food. I had one of the best scotches of my life here (that makes sense, as I'm in Scotland). The thing with scotch is the number of selections you can choose from; it's endless. Our waiter here tonight offered me a young, light, very drinkable, local whiskey. I loved it! I ordered what turned out to be a huge plate of fish and chips, and my wife ordered their cheeseburger. Both of these dishes represented the art of "Pub Food Fare." We were both duly impressed. We totally enjoyed our first meal in this iconic setting. read more

You come here for the history and the beer and the VIEW. All did not dissapoint. Had a club sandwich with was not too good, who cares. Come here for the atmosphere. Sat right next to the wall on the road hole and we could of reached out and grabbed a stray ball. Epic view. Service slow, but who cares. Beer(local ale) was awesome. Perfect place to enjoy a pint after the round! Make sure to look at the wall of photos of past and current players who have ordered a pint and cheered with the patrons. In fact after the 2010 Open Championship Louis Oosthuizen brought in the Claret Jug into the Pub and raised it with all the patrons in the bar and they captured that photo (epic)! This place is dimly lit, oak wood feel and low bar stools while you enjoy some of Scotland's best brews around. If you sit on the patio beware of flying golf balls from the 17th Tee Box!! read more

We walked into this restaurant on a whim after walking a couple of the holes on the Old Course on a Sunday. They were quick to seat us and we were very hungry so the bar was pretty low and they did not deliver. We waited over an hour for our appetizer to arrive and upon receiving it, it was mediocre at best. Then it took another 20 minutes for our meal to arrive which was also nothing special (and we were hungry). The tomato basil soup tasted like someone put a can of tomato puree in a pot and added some pepper. Overall it was a very disappointing meal and experience. read more

Reasonably priced lunch food compared to the Old course hotel hams Hame bar & grill. My lunch cost under 15pounds. Had a pint of jigger ale and a pint of Carlsberg. Jigger ale is too bitter so had Carlsberg as a chaser! =D The mushroom soup was recommended by our server, she said its the best. It was fine, it reminded me of blended can of cream mushroom soup, but with heavy cream n butter added. The plate of chips was just that: fried potatoes with no salt. I really appreciated the small cute Heinz condiments provided with our order. Our nice server seated us by a window facing the golf course. I told her she looked like a short version of Gwenth Pathrow :-D!!!! The women's washroom is upstairs and very posh, reminded me of a guest room in an attic. I would return here, the servers leave you alone to enjoy your meal and the pub decor is original as the fireplace that was installed hundreds of years ago! read more

One of my very favourite places in St. Andrews, whether it is a cozy winter night for Kullen Skink, a place for hot chocolate or a pint after a round of golf, or the perfect setting any time of the summer to watch the golf. Top food recommendations are the fish and chips and the club sandwich! The Jigger ale is always a favourite, as well as the sticky toffee pudding. DId I say I love pubs....Yes...the darker the beer the better. But the Jigger Inn really didn't have many stouts or porters to my surprise. This guys are situated in the best spot, just a hop & skip from St.Andrews Old Course. Its a very cute cozy pub with inside and outside seating. Evidently this place was the stationmaster's lodge in the mid 1800's, very nicely restored. Just lovely....I would love to be at this pub during a championship game to see all the madness that goes on. Cheers!!! read more

They get a 5 star because they serve beer, their history, and their location. It's a must for any traveler to St. Andrews. It's a small quaint bar with food. I didn't get the food, but I sure got the beer. I made a mistake and didn't get the Scottish Ale (Jigger Ale) they produce. The only reason I didn't get it is because I forgot. There are signed hats by professional golfers on the wall along with old golf photos. I will definitely go back to the Jigger Inn. read more
