There was free parking right in front as well which was handy for my elderly grandmother. The food was excellent and we all had something different. Some had fish, some scampi, risotto and even two cooked breakfasts in the afternoon! No one had any complaints about the food! The only downside for the day was the service was very slow. We were sat by quarter past 1 and we didn't leave for over 2 hours, having only had a main and desert each. There was a large group at the table behind us and some couples but the wait was far longer than you'd expect, even at a busy time. This didn't put a downer on our day however as we all enjoyed the food, but if you were only wanting to grab a quick meal you may have been disappointed.

We were in for a treat. My father ordered a burger of Scottish Beef with Chips (French Fries). The patty was huge! The burger was cooked perfectly and tasted great. I had to try a bite. My brother ordered the Braised Partridge that came with some vegetables and potatoes (nips) as sides. He was very happy with his choice. I ordered the Haggis with Mash and Squeak (cabbage). It also came with Black Pudding. This was my 2nd time to have Haggis and my 4th time to have Black Pudding. My meal was delicious! I made my father try a bite as he really had no interest in the Black Pudding or Haggis. He was very surprised at how much he liked it. I was a "fine dining" chef for 17 years and my brother had had worked some for me in the past spurring him to become a "foodie" and a great cook himself. We both agreed the food here was executed at the highest of levels and seasoned perfectly. The presentations were spot on as well. We all shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert and it was wonderful as well. This was not the fanciest place we are at on our trip but my brother and I agreed it was the place with the finest execution. If we are ever in Blairgowlry again, this place be a must visit. Our waitress even took the time to write done places we must visit while on our trip. This place was warm, but the inviting and the owners were great!

I prefer to ask someone impartial as opposed to hotel staff. After humming and hawing she said Sampan was just about the best place around if you like Indian. We do, so went and weren't disappointed. Despite heading in about half 7 on a Friday night we were seated straight away, although the place was busy. Had the full shebang, popadoms, wine, starters mains and it came to just over £50.00 which I find expensive but seems to be standard fare at an Indian these days. I had a tandoori mixed grill for my main which was delicious. I usually don't touch these as they are huge but I was feeling hungry. There portion was less than some of the other monstrosities I have in the past. However, I found that a good thing, I left full but not bloated which is what usually happens when I go. All in all great place, nice atmosphere, nice decor and tasty food. I just wish Indians weren't so damn expensive. I'd come again if I was out that way.

They only serve food during lunchtime, but I can forgive that as my lunch was delicious. They have a great selection of pub lunch food and all at reasonable prices for hearty portions. If you pop in here I would definitely recommend one of the hot toasted wraps; warm cheesy goodness packed with other just as tasty meats.

It's a shame that high streets have gone to pot as much as they have (in my home town, Costa opening up was pretty much akin to a major lifechanging event) but what can you do? Eat local where you can folks! Where it makes sense to, of course. Anyway, back to Cornerstone. It's a nice looking little deli, and looks to be catering to an entirely different market than the rest of the High Street, where stuffed vine leaves are drizzled with the finest balsamic vinegar with a portion of imported pasta (OK, not so local, but it looked awesome). It's catering for a fabulous lifestyle. I love it. I'd spend a fortune, but I was camping, so the offerings were not so practical, but the cold meat deli area looked delicious, if I ate meat. I hope it does well in Blairgowrie, the town really could do with some more attractive store fronts than it currently has to keep the old High Street alive.

The cake display didn't look overly promising. But, I was after a baked potato, and those are pretty hard to mess up. And as baked potatoes (with prawns marie rose) go, it was fine. Salad (with no-option dressing) was fine. The Silent Reviewer went for a chicken burger which turned out to be one of those battered once-upon-a-time-this-used-to-be-related-to-a-chicken burger which had the appeal of Bernard Manning in a tutu. More roll than burger, no sauce, and chips that also bore little relation to potato, I kept feeling guilty every time I looked over to his meal given mine was just fine. Service - well, it's confusing as we couldn't tell if it was table service or what - until we managed to catch someones eye to ask. Half the tables were dirty and the clear one was beside the fragrant (I do mean fragrant - toilet freshener fragrant) toilets. We managed to hop over to another table as soon as one became apparent. Everytime we gave an order, it was a bit of a competition to see what would happen first - us asking something or the waitress losing interest and trying to leave the table. Service was otherwise slow. Oh, and it doesn't take cards, so you have to nip to the bank machine around the corner. Food snob 0, bad food 1.

But no the waitress came over in a matter of minutes to greet us and take our order! Full scottish breakfast and a cheese and pickle baked potatoe! Didnt have to wait long on our food and my husbands breakfast was all grill cooked! None of that lob-it-in-the-fryer nonsence it was lovley! Will definitley be going back, great cheap food and brilliant service!
