While away on a weekend of debauchery with the other half's brass band, I found out that one of his…read morefriends from Uni lived in the area and that we were going to meet up with him for lunch. Right, so I was in charge of finding a place. To be honest, there's not much Yelp help in Perth, but I did find this place, which seemed reasonable (and cheap), and could probably take the six to eight of us who were going to go to lunch. (As the location I tried before was unlikely to be able to fit us all in). The pub is very nice! It seems like it's not really going to be there, but all of a sudden you happen upon it. It's also a pub that does table service. Which is a bit odd, but also kind of nice when you're waiting for people. Four people had pies (fish, steak and ale, and chicken and ham) and they all really seemed to like them. The other half and someone else had the Balmoral chicken (chicken with bacon and haggis), and they both raved about it. I had the tex-mex burger (a chili burger with onion rings, cheese, and a spicy sauce), and I was very impressed with how spicy everything was (one of my pet peeves is seeing "spicy" on the menu and the food not being at all spicy). The pub itself is quite spacious and has an outdoor seating area (if that's your thing, which in November, it's definitely NOT my thing). If we're back up for the band competition next year, we may have to stop in again.

We decided to make a night of it one night, and ordered food and drinks while waiting for a band to play. We were able to book a table and asked to be seated close enough to the stage so that we could enjoy the band. The band of the night was a band called Tunna (pronounced Ton-a) who were a Celtic band. My boyfriend is pretty particular about his music, but we quite enjoyed ourselves, even though we only stayed for half the set. It was a really loud set up, and we decided the next time we make our way to Perth and happen upon this place, we'll ask to be sat a bit farther away. The food was pretty spot on. We ordered some chicken wings to start which were absolutely delicious and it came with the best BBQ sauce I'd ever had. I meant to ask what kind it was, but forgot. For the mains, he ordered a burger with haggis on it, which came with chips and I ordered the gourmet chili dog, without jalapenos which also came with chips. We also ordered onion rings to share, which I thought were pretty gross. They reminded me of the frozen ones you can get out of Morrisons that are basically minced onion in a battered ring. Yick. All in all, the staff was pretty amazing. Very tentative and waited on us at our tables. That's the first time I'd ever been in to a pub and had table service. We had two different people wait on us, and it was pretty great. They had one of my favourite ciders available (spiced apple) and we also had a voucher for a fiver off, just for joining their email on their website. There is an outdoor patio area with loads of seating for eating and drinking. Pretty great once the weather gets a bit warmer! If we're ever in Perth again, I'm sure we'd stop back by Twa Tams! It's great time!

What an unexpected yet delightful find! Right on the main road in Perth's city centre is this…read morescrummy little restaurant that hits all the high notes: good lighting, good service, good food, and--every Scottish person's favourite--good *value.* When you walk in the decor is sort of sumptuously hip, with unapologetically bright red accents and a bold print of the Paris Metro on the wall. You are greeted immediately by a cheerful and charming server--the kind who can be friendly without seeming intrusive and enthusiastic without seeming phony. The menu is adventurous and authentic, with specials that include the likes of frog's legs. It is a joy to find a restaurant that doesn't kowtow to local tastes but instead does what it says on the culinary tin. The chef really knows his stuff and delivers bold, rich, FRENCH flavours that melt in your mouth. But be forewarned--the portions are also authentic. A bit smaller than what you might normally find in a Scottish restaurant. But as French food is swimming in fat, that's probably a good thing. The pre-theatre menu is a steal, but if you miss that there is also a standing tasting menu where you can get any three courses for 19.99. The portions are a bit smaller than the a la carte, but the price is right. There are also small carafes of wine on offer, for those nights when you want a bit more than a glass but not a whole bottle. (What nights are those?) Should you find yourself in Perth, make a reservation at this deservedly popular little gem.

We visited again here. I had the lamb couscous and fish cakes! Both were great. We also loved the…read morearray of desserts too. Prix Fixe was good value too.

A rest stop with many attractions in one place. They have gas, EV charging, food, a market,…read morerestaurant, giftshop, playground, and a short walking trail. The most important reason we stopped here is we read they had Highland Cows you could feed. Locally they are nicknamed "coos". Highland Cattle are a unique breed with long hair and long horns. You will see them all over the Highlands and when we came 10 years ago I remember we saw some at a farm. I think feed is 2 pounds, they will eat aggressively and your hands and palms will be wet from cow slobber! The premade food didn't look great but we were here around 5 and we knew they kids wouldn't make it all the way back to Edinburgh from here without some kind of snack. We spent way too much time debating options and seeing what they had and ended up with the the hotdog. Had a bite, nothing stood out as good or bad and it was perfect for what we were looking for.

We also visited a few days later for lunch and again was excellent. On that occasion, with Covid uppermost in people's minds we were very satisfied with their Covid protocols, with a good system in place for cleaning everything thoroughly between customers. In September 2022 we were again on holiday and had lunch there. We are still very impressed with the whole set up, service and food still excellent. intend to visit again in a couple of days. The whole team have got it all so right. well done to them all.

**WARNING** This is a lengthy review and you WILL be hungry after reading!…read more Just outside Perth and a short detour from the A9 lies Tibbermore (I know, cute right!), a typical 'blink and you'll miss it' kinda place, but really, just don't blink cos this place is awesome! It really does have it all - fresh fruit and vegetables all leafy and colourful, a gin lovers corner, wonderful cheese and meats deli, health foods section including a variety a GF flours, breads and oatcakes (try their own oatcakes, completely different from the brand that sounds like Talkers but sooo much tastier!), tray upon tray of freshly laid eggs...I could go on but you get the idea! And that's just the food section! They also have a glorious gift section where I could've easily spent a small fortune. Everything from kitchen gadgets to picnic baskets, kiddie gifts to Emma Bridgewater pottery and everything in between. I spotted a few local producers too which I loved as I always like to see locals businesses supporting each other. Then there's the café/restaurant which has a few outdoor tables but plenty inside if they're taken; the day I visited it was glorious but somehow we got lucky and got a table outside (my shoulders can prove that #scottishtan!...). The menu has lots of tasty options incorporating as much of their own produce as possible - I opted for the Homemade Chicken Liver pate while my parents both had the Smoked Ayrshire Ham & Gloagburn Curried Banana Chutney sandwich (Dad went hunting for the ham to buy later he was that impressed!). Once decided, we had to go inside and order at the counter; I'm not sure if this was due to us sitting outside or standard practise as when we asked for a second round of coffees (and some more oatcakes for me as I'd ran out!), a waitress came over with one of those electronic hand-held thingys to take that order so I wondered why she couldn't have done that initially, anyway, not really a star-affecting issue. Pricewise, we were just shy of £10/head for a sandwich and coffee (exc our 2nd coffee round), a tad steep but it's all fresh and local produce so I don't mind paying that when you know you're getting good quality (and it really was!). Given it's out-the-way location it's a busy wee place but worth the trip as you could easily spend a couple of hours here eating and browsing. There's plenty parking available and even a small play area for kids. Farm Shops like this don't come around too often, which is a shame as they really are wee gems of places!
