The appetizer recommended by our server was the mussels. These were best mussels I've ever enjoyed. It was served with a sauce made with garlic, butter, milk, and onion. It's good enough to be a soup! Our sides included brocholini and halumi. Both were excellent. The brocholini was flavorful and crunchy with a nice sauce-though know that the sauce has ham in it. The cheese, lightly fried is served with a spicy sauce that I really enjoyed, bit was too much for my wife. It was superb. We selected the monkfish and sea bass for our mains. Both were excellent, moist and flavorful fish-generous portions of each. This was an extremely satisfying and enjoyable meal. It was I've of our best in Scotland. We were frankly unable to eat more and we didn't have dessert.

We got the following: - Battered Haddock with chips special (comes with a drink) x 2 - Calamari - Onion Rings - Chicken tender salad We got our food, then realized we had to order the tartar sauce, etc. So go back in line, by this time I had to wait 10 minutes to get: - Tartar sauce x 3 - Ketchup (yes they charge you for ketchup) - side order of curry The haddock - first time experiencing fish & chips in Scotland, I walked away from here very disappointed. First off the mains were served on dessert plates. Those who ordered chicken pie received what would be a $2 sausage roll with some sauce veloute and two tablespoons of chicken. I changed my order to sausage, and was told 15 minutes, please. The venison sausage served atop whipped potatoes were good. Then the dessert, the piece de resistance. Either sticky toffee pudding /cake or raspberries, whisky ice cream. The sticky was a cake mix from the shelf. There was no ice cream but a scoop of whipped cream with two When asked where's the whisky ice cream they said "oh golly" perhaps the cook forgot to put it on the plate. So they brought out mini bowls that wouldn't fill an ice cream cone, with standard vanilla ice cream. Service was fine for a tour type dinner. They are severely understaffed. Be careful, the restaurant is large but its front end is small so you could easily drive/walk by and not see it. The interior doesn't look much. But then again, how good is the inside of a chippy supposed to look? The portions are a good size, but if you're like me an extra chips will do down well (and still be dead cheap). Avoid going at 6pm on Sundays as the queue is halfway down the street.

If you wander 30 or so feet down to the harbour you'll see where they get the catch every day. This place looks as if it hasn't changed in about 70 years! Absolutely no frills. This is a chippy so no prawn cocktail or scampi, just fantastic fish and chips. Queues outside prove the popularity - prepare to wait, especially on a Saturday night. We drive through from the Glasgow area, (2 hour drive) get a fish supper and sit on the shore walls looking out to sea in the most picturesque surroundings (and we don't have to dodge the seagulls).
