Although this is a high end shop I came at a time when they were doing merchandise turnover for fall. As a result practically everything in the store was on sale. I loved looking at the cute travel "slippers" for that next trip which makes a great gift idea. The slippers they had in the back had cute sayings on them. I finally decided to settle for a pair of new sandals. After trying on several different pairs I was able to find a comfortable black leather strap one by Vionic which is a name I'm familiar with. Although the store was not set up for social distancing I was pleased that everyone was following the guidelines and wearing masks as well. Course this store has masks for sale as well. I worked with a lady named Maria and when I made my purchase I was asked to put my credit card into her computer for payment. Online ordering is also an option if you don't wish to come visit. We are huge Altra fans and they have the best selection we have ever seen. They only sell shoes that are good and healthy for your feet. If you are having any sort of foot/shoe issue, make the trip to the special store. They sell shoes that are shaped like human feet - There are not many shoe stores that do that! (And none with a selection as good a Vince's). Go to here. You will likely need to take a number (yep! they actually do that), but it will be worth every second that you wait. Facing a soggy weekend for my immenent trip to Philadelphia I decided to get rain boots to prevent my sneakers from getting washed out. I got a nice saleslady who measured my feet and we tried on different pairs of boots. Rain boots can usually size up or down based on the cut so it's best to try things on. I finally decided upon a pair of Hunter rain boots and found that my shoe orthotic fits in it which will make it easier to walk. They carry a good selection of shoes from name brands as well as shoe accessories. The orthotics they gave me to try didn't work so I'm glad that my sneaker ones did. Most definitely will return in the future to obtain slippers and boots.

Walking in, the feel of the creaky wooden floors and old display tables and fixtures, brought me back to the time when I went shopping for new clothing with my grandmother. This nostalgia is certainly part of the experience. Woolrich is a major label here. The focus is on outdoor life, with everything from boots to hats and everything in between. The woman helping us seemed to be a long term worker, or even part of ownership. She knew where everything was, what was on sale, and how to "sell." We were looking for clothing to deal with the unexpected cool weather for which we weren't prepared. Good fortune smiled, as they were having a sale on long sleeve cotton fleece zip ups. There are 2 large mirrors around the shop that have been reflecting images for decades and seemed to beautify the person standing before them. The black fleece looked a perfect fit, and with the discount, $25 seemed like a decent deal. While there, I also found a heavy wale corduroy shirt with button flap breast pockets that fit well. We put it in the bag. Martin's is not the cheapest outfitter, but the quality of the experience certainly equaled the quality of the merchandise, making it all worthwhile.
