Live band

WHAT A GEM! We had a blast at Boots and Brew last night. Check out their Facebook for weekly band updates. We stopped here for some drinks -- no food. However the food presentation looked awesome. They have a few hidden rooms you wouldn't expect. One has a mechanical Bull, there's another with pool tables, axe throwing and a private speakeasy you can reserve. The bartenders were extremely kind and the owners (Matt and Kathy) were so inviting. They took the time to show us the rooms since we planned on bringing friends next visit. Can't recommend this spot more. Music was incredible. We enjoyed our date night here.

Cheese curds - so yummy!

Food is great but it is expensive. Also the glasses for the soft drinks are very small.

An absolute must visit if you're in the area! We were in town visiting friends and they said we had…read moreto do here and I'm so glad they suggested it. We ended up talking about this meal all weekend long. Our friends Tyler and Lindsay have come multiple times and they guided us through the menu and what they recommended. We ordered: - house sourdough - chicken liver mousse - sugar baby watermelon salad - pappardelle - duck breast - half chicken x2 Every single thing was amazing! The vibes were cute, the service was great. Such a hidden gem but would absolutely come back to check out other seasonal menus.

Had been long looking forward to a return to Sewanee, particularly to have the opportunity to check…read moreout Judith Tavern. Unfortunately, left pretty disappointed. The space is attractive, though it's far from being any sort of "tavern". It's rather loud, industrial. The worst aspect of the space are the tables for 2, which are small cocktail tables, really sized to hold a couple drinks, not dinner for 2. One is left with the impression that they're more interested in fitting as many diners as possible into the space rather than providing a fine dining experience. So much so that the wait staff apologized for the table size several times. Menu varies with the season, though we found most items on the online "sample" menu were on the dinner menu that night as well. Roasted oysters were plated very attractively, the oysters were plump, and the topping tasty, though several of mine were refrigerator cold - clearly made in advance and not properly heated for serving. Starter of sourdough bread with chili oil. The bread was wonderfully rustic, the chili oil was actually garlic oil. For my main, I had the "signature" trout. Pleasant enough, a nicely cooked filet swimming in a brothy sauce. Accompanied by a few small rounds of potato, what amounted to a single thinly sliced fingerling, I left hungry and considered stopping for a burger on the way home. The wife was underwhelmed with the duck. Kudos for providing an upscale dinner destination in Sewanee. Though not an option that we'd consider revisiting.

Found this gem on the last night of our Tim's Fore Lake trip…read more Downtown Winchester. First WIN was our server Gracie H. Effervescent, knowledgeable, pleasant...all the things you want from a server. We are envious of her 5th grade students. Loved the atmosphere of Filos. Design was corporates the prior building exteriors. Busy and lively when we arrived yet now wait for the three os us. Ordered two Expresso martinis. Creamy with good body...although they could be a bit larger! Wine selection was more than sufficient. Ordered the steak egg rolls. Not to be missed especially with the dipping sauce. Companions split a wedge salad and filet. Cooked just right and tasty. NYO mashed potatoes were different but well made. I had the Steak Diane special. Again steak cooked as I requested although I would order medium rare if I did it again. Plenty of meat with a bit left over for the pup waiting at home. Green beans were al dente which is how I liked them (not mushy) Succumbed to Gracie's suggestion of key lime pie. Ample size for three people with no artificial taste. We live near Nashville so the pricing was wonderful and great value. Loved the atmosphere/vibe. Will definitely return upon our next visit to the area.

Filos was absolutely wonderful! The food was amazing--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Our service from Missy was excellent; she was warm, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. We also had the pleasure of meeting Lee, the chef and owner, who was lovely, charismatic, and clearly passionate about what he does. And the martinis? Perfect! Great food, wonderful people, and a fantastic experience all around. We were thrilled at our experience. Starting with the perfect shaken martini , to the excellent service by Missy, and the food was par with many of the Michelin star restaurants in Austin we love to frequent. The chef owner Lee was full of character and poise. He clearly runs a well bred tavern with a level of sophistication unusual in small towns . We drove back for lunch today and were welcomed by the staff and Lee brought us the most delicious carrot cake warmed on the house as we were ready to depart.
