Brunch Punch Drag Brunch. More fun than your high heels can stand!
    Darla M.

The Backstage Bistro is almost like Cheers for me except theatre instead of sports. And with great food. Usually I only tell my good friends how really good it is because I don't want it to become over crowded, but it could be. Not just pub grub either. Crafted sandwiches and salads. Brunch is extra tasty with a side order of Drag Queens and sangria served on the first Sunday of each month. Tuesday night's are also a treat with comedy showcases with Mak and Winks. The Bistro is not just a waiting place for Shadowbox Live but a destination all on its own.

A little Back Stage Bistro to warm the sole.

I had always associated Backstage Bistro only with going to Shadowbox, and clearly that was wrong.

The jazz was incredible and the show flew by! The 3.5 grahams was such a fun drink! The graham cracker-infused rum with the banana liquor was right up my alley! You can never go wrong with a French 75 too! The pretzel poppers are addicting and I love the peppers in the hummus! I totally recommending stopping by for a show & a great night!

The room is a bit dark and the small candle on each table is definitely not enough light to read the menu. Make sure you have your phone for light. I am Deaf but my girlfriend loves jazz so I like to take her to places she's never been before. She loved the music so that was great! We ordered the hummus and they gave you plenty of it. I ordered the octopus and for $28 it was definitely not worth it nor was it delicious. They give you two small pieces. If I knew that I would have never ordered it. Plus it was not cooked properly. Octopus is my favorite food and I have many years of experience ordering it and cooking it myself. This was very disappointing. The one woman server did a good job managing about 10 couples herself. I would return but I would think twice about ordering dinner here.

For our visit, they were showing the silent version of The Phantom of the Opera with a live orchestra. This was our first visit to this theater so we got there early to look around. There is a convenient parking garage located directly behind the theater and if you remember to ask, they will validate your parking ticket for $2.00 (we did not remember to do this so we paid $11.50 for three hours!!). They were showing this film on Halloween night, which was also a Friday night, so the University District was hopping! It was fun to walk around and see all of the costumes and various parties going on before heading into see our movie. Since this was a special showing it cost us around $55.00 for our tickets, but we ordered them in advance and were able to pick the seats we wanted. They allowed everyone inside the theater 15 minutes early, so there was quite a long line waiting once we were near the theater door. We saw others carrying soda and popcorn, but couldn't figure out where the concessions stand was! We were barely able to figure out where to find the bathrooms, so we gave up on the popcorn once the door opened for the movie. Once the door was opened, we went in and found our seats. Very comfy seats!!! We sat in the fifth row, so the screen was higher than our seats, but oh so cozy. The show was fantastic, the live orchestra did a smashing job! Very enjoyable visit!!
