We are proud members of this CSA family for the last 3 years and you should be too. We have been…read moremembers of CSAs in several cities across the country and Lisa and her team at Bakers Acres are one of the very best. The farm itself feels like it was lifted out a storybook and we love to visit for the events they host for members (pea picking, pumpkins in the falls, bon-fires, etc). They are certified organic and they are not stopping there as they are always busy making improvements to make the farm and their distribution even more environmentally friendly and sustainable. Our family (2 adults and 2 kids) enjoy a "full share" which means we pick up a fresh box full of veggies for 18 weeks during the summer/fall months and if you do the math it's very inexpensive. The quality of the vegetables is always 5 star and super fresh. Most of the items are staple items that we can use easily incorporate into our weekly meals and once and a while there is a more unusual ingredient that is fun to experiment with... don't worry about meal ideas as Lisa provides weekly recipes and info about how to cook/eat each item. I can't recommend membership enough... one tip is to make sure to sign up early as each year the number of shares are limited and usually sell out.

If you like to buy organic produce at the store or enjoy visiting a famers' market or co-op, you should try this out for a season. There really is no comparison to the quality and variety of the produce, and there is a tremendous amount of a feel good factor when you commit to sustainably support a local farmer. If you're already on board the CSA train and just deciding which one to join, this one is wonderful. The owner is very focused, driven, and excellent at communication. She sends out deatiled updates on the farm as well as storage tips and great recipes for the week's delivery. She holds several fantastic events on the farm each year and really makes you feel involved and appreciated in her efforts to better our earth, health, community, and food system. She treats you like a true partner in both, business and this mission which is both humbling and empowering. That beats a mundane trip to the grocery store any day.

My favorite farm share place in the cities! I had heard of TGA a few years back when I received a…read moregift certificate to take a cooking class. Dang pandemic, I have not yet been able to take a cooking class, but once those restrictions lift, I will be there for sure! The options to get yummy, local produce here are robust. Last summer (2020), I was too late on the ball to get a full season farm share, so I got a once a month "grill box", which came with a meat to grill and a smaller assortment of veggies. How amazing those 3 boxes were. Over the winter, I also got a couple of the "off season" boxes, which included mostly cheese, jams, and other freshly canned or frozen goodies. I signed up for both the full season share and grill box this summer as well and have yet to be disappointed. TGA also does a lot of good in the community. You can spend a little extra and give a farm share to those in need, student shares are also available, and everything is local. The manager there (I think her name is Karin) is also fantastic. I have missed the pick-up window or written down the wrong pick-up date on more occasions than I am willing to admit and I always still get what I need. Overall, just a great business offering a great product.

She had signed up for their CSA program last summer and we attended an event there last the fall. They also have a commercial kitchen for rental for small businesses and offer a variety of cooking classes (that are open to the public). I don't really want to say this too loud cause it's my best kept secret!! I recently took part in several of their cooking classes with my daughter (of course)! I found both classes to be very fun and informative. We took a class called "Curry in a Hurry" and "Korean BBQ" both lead by Chef Yia Vang (owner of Union Kitchen). First he demonstrated a few things but then we set up in stations and starting following the recipe and cooking/grilling ourselves. Both were a really awesome experience. Chef Yia was always nearby to ask questions if we needed anything. I like how casual things feel and how welcoming the staff are. Can't wait to come back for another class soon!
