Kids love the blueberry and strawberry picking. It's so fun and SOOO cheap compared to grocery stores. Not only that, but the berries taste like real fruit. We go here every year and it's a blast! read more

There's nothing quite like picking your own strawberries. the same goes for any fruit or veggie, there's a contentment in getting to handpick your food. You can be at peace seeing and knowing exactly where your food is coming from.While it could get hot outside while you are picking your strawberries, it's still very fun to see how many good ones you could get. along with strawberries are some blueberries that are coming in soon. If I'm not mistaken, there should also be some raspberries in a few weeks as well. The staff and family who owns this busines is also very friendly, even to this west side city gal ;) I can't wait to come back again! read more

I've been coming here for years. Always quality fruit. Tidy rows cushion my knees. Helpful staff. Worth the trip to Monticello.

The Strawberry Basket is a super place to pick your own berries. Strawberries, blueberries and raspberries are the three available to pick. Go online and sign up for their reminder postcard that will tell you when the berries are ripe. Also check the website in advance to see if there is picking on that day. Get there early. They open at 7am. There are times when the berries are completely picked for the day by 9 am. Remember that everything depends on weather and the amount of people showing up to pick. Drive in and park. They will give you a bucket and tell you where they'd like you to start. You flag the area where you end your picking. This is an organized way for the next person coming to pick. Take your bucket back to your car and drive ahead to have them weigh it and where you can pay with cash or check. I don't believe they take credit cards. read more

It is a great way to spend a day so after calling to confirm they were open (message for callers was "today is July 3rd and we are open until 7pm") we drove over an hour to enjoy the experience and get berries for our 4th of July celebration. They were closed. read more

Love it here! Beautiful fruit - typically come at least a few times for strawberries and have picked blueberries and raspberries in years past (hopefully this year too!) I understand people want to have fun, but at the core this is a business. The time and effort that goes into an establishment like this is probably more then I can articulate so regarding other remarks about picking experience, I have never had an issue. Delicious berries, clean straw lined fields and a slightly sick feeling of eating too much always awaits me and I'll be back for more :) read more

Beautiful fruit, but...WOW, not a pleasant picking experience at all. We felt like farm laborers as we were directed to small flagged off sections where we were directed to "close the gap" by picking all of the ripe fruit. If we picked too far to one side we were yelled at and told we were picking "someone else's fruit". Another family was reprimanded for not picking thoroughly enough and missing ripe berries. Will not return. read more

Drove an hour to pick blueberries today to find the place closed. Ugh! The bushes were loaded with fruit and the website clearly stated, "picking Monday 7-11am. Best picking conditions are right now." What a waste of time. Is this place serious about picking berries or not? Won't make the trip again. read more
