Minnetonka and St. Louis Park are the closest to me. The flowers are healthy and beautiful! They have unique basket arrangements. They have fresh produce too! Tomatoes, strawberries and corn are so fresh and delicious! The employees are cheerful, knowledgeable, and helpful. It's not cheap but I can assure you it is quality! They take credit cards too.

This farmer's market seems to be improving over time. This year I've attended all but one since…read morethey opened in mid June. Slowly, slowly the numbers of stalls and the items on offer are increasing. Since I'm really only interested in the fruit and veg, I've paid little attention to the other things available such as homemade soaps, jams or jellies. As for the veg -- and, save one stall selling strawberries, there has been no fruit -- there's quite a nice variety including things like very young leeks (hard to find otherwise) and small eggplants. I've also seen kohlrabi, various greens, and some really beautiful fresh basil and dill. This week, I was surprised to discover an orangish cauliflower, something I had not seen for sale anywhere before. Have to see what the next few weeks bring onto the scene. And just a note: compared to the nearby New Hope farmer's market, Market in the Valley is a good bit larger and has a wider variety despite what the reviews I've read say about how big the New Hope one supposedly is.

It was a chilly Spring Saturday when I visited, so not as crowded as I'd anticipate it would normally be on a Saturday around 11:45am. This is a laid back atmosphere with plenty of local vendors. I noticed baked goods, honey, vegetables, food vendors, and more. Pretty good variety. I also noticed that the list of vendors change as well. Although it was quite chilly (I should have brought my light winter jacket), it was nice to stroll the farmers market as it's one of my favorite things to do this time of year. I did notice on the sign while walking into the market dogs are not allowed, hours are 9am-1pm on Saturdays, and it's held rain or shine. Bonus, free street parking! I'm thinking I'll likely be back sometime later this summer.

Bouquets of flowers that are different each week, in-season fruits and vegetables, including uncommon options like Japanese eggplant and kohlrabi, small batch honey and maple syrup, jams and jerky, mushrooms, and tons of baked goods. There are also artists selling fishing lures, soaps, natural bug spray, woodworking, candles, jewelry and more. I love going in the morning and picking up breakfast there. For example, the vegan berry smoothie from Great Northern Microgreens I initially tried with some trepidation, but is now something I come back for (and I'm not the only one, because sometimes there is que of people waiting for smoothies). A croissant or quiche or muffin from one of the many bakeries is always a good option (and then I inevitably pick up dessert for later. A favorite treat of mine are the chocolate chip shortbread from Great Harvest Bread Co). Mogi Bagel has a huge following, and they are often sold out of most flavors by halfway through (see photo with a single bundle left at 11 am), so either pre-order your bagels for pick up, or get there early. The bagels are small, light and soft. They are easily compressible rather than being dense. The Cacio e Pepe flavor is pictured, and it was yummy lightly toasted with butter. Very flavorful. Speaking of yummy- Yummytizers has many great dips, but my favorite item are their veggie chips (not pictured because they had okra this week instead, but I was reassured the chips would be back next week). Delicious, colorful, and low-guilt! Most vendors give samples, so you can walk around the market trying bites and sips, then go back to get your favorites. There are also many vendors selling hot food, from spring rolls to pakora, to empanadas and breakfast sandwiches. No matter when you arrive, there will be something delicious to eat. Pro tip: There is a master gardener station, where you can ask for help identifying that random maybe-bush-maybe-tree growing in your yard, so take a photo beforehand. There are dining tables and chairs under a tent, so there is cover from rain and sun, as needed. And there is usually an activity that is kid-friendly (like a coloring station). There are no dogs allowed at this market, so leave your pets at home. Parking is possible either on the main street or on side streets and isn't that hard to find, as people are constantly coming and going. A great local event to check out when you have friends or family visiting!

I have been coming here for years and love their selection of annuals, perennials, vegetables, unique garden accessories and GORGEOUS baskets. They do a great job of creating really full, lush baskets and containers that make the grocery store variety look like it just came out of a hail storm. Yes, they are a little more expensive than Home Depot or some other larger stores, but it's worth it. Their plants are healthy, full and simply high quality. They have also started doing winter arrangements and they were a one stop shop for my Christmas decor last year. They really have some creative and inspiring ideas and are ahead of the trends. Nikki, the manager has some of the best customer service I have seen. She is friendly to everyone, and is very knowledable about anything and everything green. Their team is more than happy to help you pick out something that would make your neighbors green with envy. Dang pandemic, I have not yet been able to take a cooking class, but once those restrictions lift, I will be there for sure! The options to get yummy, local produce here are robust. Last summer (2020), I was too late on the ball to get a full season farm share, so I got a once a month "grill box", which came with a meat to grill and a smaller assortment of veggies. How amazing those 3 boxes were. Over the winter, I also got a couple of the "off season" boxes, which included mostly cheese, jams, and other freshly canned or frozen goodies. I signed up for both the full season share and grill box this summer as well and have yet to be disappointed. TGA also does a lot of good in the community. You can spend a little extra and give a farm share to those in need, student shares are also available, and everything is local. The manager there (I think her name is Karin) is also fantastic. I have missed the pick-up window or written down the wrong pick-up date on more occasions than I am willing to admit and I always still get what I need. Overall, just a great business offering a great product.

She had signed up for their CSA program last summer and we attended an event there last the fall. They also have a commercial kitchen for rental for small businesses and offer a variety of cooking classes (that are open to the public). I don't really want to say this too loud cause it's my best kept secret!! I recently took part in several of their cooking classes with my daughter (of course)! I found both classes to be very fun and informative. We took a class called "Curry in a Hurry" and "Korean BBQ" both lead by Chef Yia Vang (owner of Union Kitchen). First he demonstrated a few things but then we set up in stations and starting following the recipe and cooking/grilling ourselves. Both were a really awesome experience. Chef Yia was always nearby to ask questions if we needed anything. I like how casual things feel and how welcoming the staff are. Can't wait to come back for another class soon!
