My neighborhood Kowalski's is small (intimate when you are trying to pass someone in a lane), dark, and sometimes stock is limited. The Kowalski's at Southdale is overwhelming. It is large, well lighted and well stocked. I felt like a refugee from a third world country. We decided to pick up lunch. In addition to Kowalski's superb soups they had a pho/ramen bar. I was dubious as I love pho at Vietnamese restaurants but this wasn't bad definitely tasted like pho. There were many other choices for prepared food to take out. We bought a few things and as is typical of Kowalski's the staff were friendly and helpful. There is parking at the entrance and they will carry your purchases to your car. I doubt I will drive all the way to Southdale for my regular shopping but I must say I was overwhelmed in a positive sense.

I do like that they mostly group items together so you can see all options in one place, like gluten free crackers and next to regular crackers. Same with some dairy free options for other items. They have a ton of parking and if you park underground in the ramp they have a cart ramp to get your items down easier.

We were pleased with the Bloomington Farmers Market. There were a number of farmer/vendors selling their produce. Also there were a couple of food trucks for lunch. The market itself is easily accessible and there is lots of parking nearby. I missed the hustle and bustle and variety of the Minneapolis Farmers Market so we will have to see if we become regulars at the Bloomington Market but overall I was well pleased.

Midtown Global Market has been such a staple in my life. It does such a good job of having food options from so many cultures and parts of the world. The food is reasonably priced and the workers are all so kind and knowledgable. Beyond just food, there is a huge selection of art, groceries, clothing, and more. MGM has always felt like the ideal of what Minneapolis is and can be. I am sad to see a lot of booths closed right now. My heart aches for my neighbors and community. Makes me avoid the area as a whole. Definitely not MGM fault but generally unfortunate. You do have to pay for parking, ramp or metered. Or you could be lucky and find a spot around the neighborhood and walk over.
