Regretfully I didn't go inside to check out the goods, but outside... there was an abundance of flowers, herbs, succulents, plants, small decor and others. Signage for price, clearance (in the back towards alley), and shaded plants were clearly marked. I appreciate that while the staff was kind, they weren't overbearing and allowed you to shop and your pace. I ended up needing advice and found someone who was very helpful. They have shopping carts (I didn't notice baskets), but the space is so tight, I didn't bother using one. As for parking, it's just street parking but I was able to find a spot on the parkway. Anyway, I've passed by so many times and don't know why it took so long to stop in, but glad I finally did.

This time I was invited by a friend who told me they were having a holiday night market on 12/11 from 4pm-9pm. I was immediately yes! There were plenty of local vendors selling everything from art crafts, to bread and food sample kits. Santa Claus along with his pet was there ready for photo ops. This is an annual event at Tangletown Gardens, but I definitely recommend it next year if there have the holiday market. Good holiday gifts to get for loved ones.

We scored a pretty healthy garden croton in a beautiful concrete pot for $44! We were expecting it to be close to $100. The staff was super helpful and friendly as well. They had an employee who makes terrariums and when she heard we had a fiddle leaf fig at home, she gave us a ton of good advice about caring for it. The terrariums they had for sale were great too, they had the cutest bamboo plant with little panda figurines in it that would make such a nice gift. The only thing to keep in mind is that we've had a ton of little gnats in our apartment since we brought the new plant in, so be prepared for some gnat-control. Regardless, I will definitely be back for some hanging planters and to support this amazing Native Woman owned local business :D

We have visited a couple of different gardens over the years and none of them were overly exciting. Some even had a cover charge. Really a cover charge! I would like a raspberry margarita along with my fresh raspberries if i'm paying a cover charge. So began my Yelpsearch. While there were not a lot of reviews, there was good information which lead me to the website for Sam Kedem Nursery & Garden. After doing some more reading, I felt this was the place. Sam Kedem Nursery & Garden is located in outskirts of Hastings. We actually missed our turn initially and had to go back. As you drive down the street it appears that you are driving into a forest but there is an opening for a vehicle to drive into. Its kind of an enchanted feeling. As we made our way through the trees we noticed some apple trees an then a grassy area for parking. Just up from the parking area is a garden and their shop. It really feels like you are visiting a private nursery and farm. Inside the shop there was a nice man that directed us to the raspberry fields. At the right time of year, they also have strawberry fields. (cue that Beatles song) Off we went to pick our berries. Even though it was a little later in the season, we found an abundance of plump berries. Once back at the shop we also couldn't help ourselves and picked up some eggs and produce. Sam Kedem Nursery & Garden is organic. Personally as long as it is a good product, I don't get to caught up in organic or not. However I will tell you this, we absolutely loved our experience, our raspberries, eggs and produce, and it was all very affordable! We also noticed that they have apple trees. We certainly plan to visit Sam Kedem Nursery and Garden again as we would love to check out their strawberries and apples.

Not so I wouldn't have to do it again soon but because I wanted the lawn to look like a golf green. As I grew up and eventually found my own home, that same passion continued. I like having our yard look nice. While we enjoy a variety of outdoor type stores, we have become fans of Zywiec's. Zywiec's is a family owned landscape and garden center located right off of Hwy 61 in Cottage Grove. We always try to support local establishments and love family owned placed. Zywiec's has been in business for over 30 years. They have all the usual products that you would need for landscaping and gardening. They also have hayrides, a corn maze and other activities. Their prices are very reasonable and we feel on some items they are almost underpriced. We have purchased mulch, rocks, bricks and grass seed to name a few items. Their service has always been fast and friendly. The hardest thing might just be trying to pronounce their name correctly. For some reason I just call them "Zoiks" from Scooby Doo. We've been here several times and we'll sure be back again soon.
