This is a proud Christian owned garden and landscape business on the outskirts of Chaska. I went there in April around Easter, and a lot of the outdoor product offerings weren't available yet due to a late winner. This business does try to be a one stop shop for a wide variety of customers. Whether you're just looking for a gift, you have a pot on your deck you want filled, or you have a more substantial landscape need - the mustard seed should be able to help you. The customer service that I encountered seem nice. Being a believer in a mostly liberal state it was nice to see a business that wasn't ashamed about their beliefs - for that I appreciate what they are trying to do. In regards to price - some products are a little expensive compared to your bigger box retailers. Make sure your wallet knows that to help any impulse buys. As a plant nerd I often visit multiple local garden centers, avoiding big box stores after learning they participate in a form of consignment called "Scan to Pay" which means they carry zero financial risk for the plants they sell. This program allows them to not properly care for the plants they carry. It also allows them to avoid educating their staff in regards to proper care. ​​ The staff at the Mustard Seed prove that you get what you pay for. ​While some of the younger staff may not have the answers, they are willing to find someone who can. The staff is welcoming and go out of their way to help to the best of their ability. I have been coming here for years for annuals, veggies and perennials. It's incredibly rare that I have an experience that left me feeling dissatisfied (no one is perfect). ​ The one thing that stands out at this garden center is that they do their very best to find specific plants just for you. My husband brought me here as part of our date night, and I was in awe! We wandered the grounds and looked at all of the beautiful, well care for plants, and at such great prices! They've also got you covered for any supplies or gift needs. Left with two new plants and found it they have a warranty on their plants too! I really love visiting new nurseries. They are just so much cooler than your standard garden section at fill in the blank home retailer (don't get me wrong, I shop there too...) So my husband wanted to go to the Mustard Seed and I tagged along to check out the flowers. It's a small little nursery that's part traditional nursery/greenhouse, part decor store and even it looked like CBD store as well. I really enjoyed wandering around the outside garden areas and even saw some flowers I've never seen before. I also enjoyed the indoor greenhouse/shade house. If I lived closer, I would stop pretty often! The staff was friendly and accommodating. And of the four tomato plants I bought this summer, the one I bought here is doing the best so far! read more

We stopped by this nursery to purchased some flowers and grab some ideas for the front landscaping of my father's house. The first thing I noticed immediately was how large this place was. You could purchase almost any plant, in any variety, or color here. It's organized but type and color so it makes it very easy to find what you're looking for if it's something specific. Walking around here was like walking around a arboretum or garden. I can't emphasize enough how absolutely beautiful it is here. They offer a landscaping planning service where they come to your home (for a fee) to help you plan your design as well as a free design at the store if you bring them a photo. They will help design a landscaping plan using their computer with your photo so you can see what it would look like. Their garden store was really substantial as well. Bring the Visa cause this place is expensive!!! Good selection but I can't get over the prices as they are 15% more than anywhere else. That being said they run a great business and put service first above all. They have a great selection onsite and do great fun events like bringing in food trucks for lunch during the summer! The mustard seed at halla nursery created our landscaping in 2002 with a huge swimming pond, a 10 foot waterfall and beautiful landscaping. Today they just finished creating a new design and installing it. It's absolutely beautiful. I wish I could post pictures of the previous landscaping and the NOW landscaping. Both were uniquely different and we could not be more PLEASED with the mustard seed; from the consultation, to going over the line by line bid/design, to the tear out process of plantings and replacements. I am sorry to say that the plants I bought at The Mustard Seed didn't do well. I bought annuals earlier this month. I spent about $100 and honestly everything eventually died! After 2 days I brought back in a hanging plant that had drooped. I was told that they do not guarantee annuals but just this time they would let me do exchange. So I bought impatiens and basil thinking that was safe even though they were at a higher price then other nurseries! Basil is dead and impatiens not thriving I am not going back for sure. Please consider this review also.there were 2 ladies to help. I don't think I met the owner. read more

I visited this nursery after buying a Living Social deal for Christmas tree. There were a lot of Fraser Firs to choose from, but if that wasn't your cup of tea, there weren't many other options. The garlands, the wreathes, and the other holiday decor was a little lacking in terms of options and the sales person mentioned that it was a slow morning so it didn't seem like it was due to sell out. The reindeer were a nice touch, but Santa looked extremely bored and like he would like to be anywhere but there. Overall, it was kind of "meh". read more
