I was super impressed with the number and variety of local vendors that they lined up. I got a ton of Christmas shopping done. This is a proud Christian owned garden and landscape business on the outskirts of Chaska. I went…read morethere in April around Easter, and a lot of the outdoor product offerings weren't available yet due to a late winner. This business does try to be a one stop shop for a wide variety of customers. Whether you're just looking for a gift, you have a pot on your deck you want filled, or you have a more substantial landscape need - the mustard seed should be able to help you. The customer service that I encountered seem nice. Being a believer in a mostly liberal state it was nice to see a business that wasn't ashamed about their beliefs - for that I appreciate what they are trying to do. In regards to price - some products are a little expensive compared to your bigger box retailers. Make sure your wallet knows that to help any impulse buys. (...being funny because there is a lot of cuteness) Overall, I'll be visiting again and would recommend a visit if you're in the area!

This program allows them to not properly care for the plants they carry. It also allows them to avoid educating their staff in regards to proper care. The staff at the Mustard Seed prove that you get what you pay for. While some of the younger staff may not have the answers, they are willing to find someone who can. The staff is welcoming and go out of their way to help to the best of their ability. I have been coming here for years for annuals, veggies and perennials. It's incredibly rare that I have an experience that left me feeling dissatisfied (no one is perfect). The one thing that stands out at this garden center is that they do their very best to find specific plants just for you. I love this place. I appreciate the help from the staff and the education I receive when I ask for help.

This was a no brainer, as the Succulent bowl alone is $39 and Bachmans Succulent are $4-5 alone. I paid online and attended the open house day where they treated up to a tour, Subway lunch and an extra Succulent. My mom was in town and she also got the tour, extra Succulent and lunch. Succulents are cool as you barely need to water them. I've picked up faithfully every month so far. There was even a promo for 2 free annuals or herbs. One of my corkscrew succulents shriveled up, and they replaced it for free. I picked up some mum annuals at 50 and 70% off and was only 70 cents. Hanging baskets were also top quality. Great customer service. Great Succulent Club. Hope they do next summer again.

The first time, I went into the office and was greeted with bemused confusion from the employees there. They had to wander the yard to find the person who was supposed to help customers, who greeted me with "we're closed." "I'm pretty sure you were open when we started looking for you." Reluctantly and with barely concealed exasperation, he instructed me in how to fill a customer-provided bag. I figured that negative experience was probably just because I'd unwittingly showed up right at closing time. (Apple Maps had the wrong hours. Oops!) Frustration is understandable. Maybe they'd had a long day. I figured I'd give the place a second chance. This time, I went to fill my bag as instructed last time, and the same guy came out to chastise me for not coming to the office first -- the same office where I'd been met with confusion the time before. He was, if it's even possible, even more of a passive-aggressive jerk this time around. ("You might consider a sign to help people know what to do...." "There's a big sign there that says 'Office.'" Thanks, dude.) The cheeky good humor of their web site was nowhere in sight. I left disappointed and ticked off. I truly feel for folks working in customer service. Been there. Customers show up, wanting unreasonable things, doing things wrong, always needing our hands held. It's so frustrating! But the fact is that the cornerstone of customer service is making unfamiliar and disoriented people feel welcome. Hiawatha Supply failed at that job. It's possible that this is a great place for landscaping contractors placing large orders. But for us regular folks just working on our gardens, I suggest going elsewhere -- somewhere we're actually welcome. I don't care to go back, and I have no doubt from the staff's behavior that the feeling is mutual.
