    Adorable garden center.

Great selection of fountains, statues, windchimes, gazing balls and other cute garden art pieces. Also an extensive selection of plants. Strolling paths and also a clearing and gazebo for weddings! Reasonable prices, nice and helpful owner, we drove from the cities because we heard about his selection, which is much better than big box stores.

Great local family owned nursery. So many different plants, especially tomatoes to choose from. It's such a peaceful environment as well.

Not so I wouldn't have to do it again soon but because I wanted the lawn to look like a golf green. After being scolded a few times by my parents I stopped trying to make our lawn look like a golf green or the outfield grass at a baseball field, and mowed it properly. As I grew up and eventually found my own home, that same passion continued. I like having our yard look nice. While we enjoy a variety of outdoor type stores, we have become fans of Zywiec's. Zywiec's is a family owned landscape and garden center located right off of Hwy 61 in Cottage Grove. We always try to support local establishments and love family owned placed. Zywiec's has been in business for over 30 years. They have all the usual products that you would need for landscaping and gardening. They also have hayrides, a corn maze and other activities. Their prices are very reasonable and we feel on some items they are almost underpriced. We have purchased mulch, rocks, bricks and grass seed to name a few items. Their service has always been fast and friendly. The hardest thing might just be trying to pronounce their name correctly. For some reason I just call them "Zoiks" from Scooby Doo. We've been here several times and we'll sure be back again soon.

Composting Concepts provides options to drop off dirt, grass, bushes, etc. Mind you this is your own labor, they just tell you what pile it goes in. They also have piles of mulch, rocks and wood chips that you may purchase. Another nice convenience although their prices may be a bit higher than some other options around town. Most of our experiences have been pretty positive. If we have a couple of bags of grass or brush, the gentleman usually only charges us a couple of dollars. The negative experience that we had is when we brought over an entire truck load of dirt. And I mean an entire truck load. Don't ask, home improvement project that reminded us why some things are better left to the professionals. Anyhow after we were directed to where to drop off our dirt, we went to work. Mind you I would have loved to have a dump truck so I could have just raised my bed and dumped the dirt. Unfortunately we had to use the same method to unload the dirt as we did loading the dirt. One shovel at a time. We were just over half way when the man working drove over to us and said they were closing and we needed to wrap it up. We had already paid and it's not like we had taken a break. We were working hard getting this dirt out. My first thought was are we getting a refund if we don't get all the dirt out? Why not offer a suggestion or help us? Anyhow we got most of the dirt out with only a little that remained. Not the best service or experience that time. Otherwise we like the options and convenience and as a homeowner we will probably be back.
