I tried a new brand of potty pads and after using 5 decided they just weren't working. They were too light-weight and would waft as the pups went by - not good as this attracted their attention and next thing you know they're thrashing them. But to the point... I decided to try to return them to the store. I couldn't find the receipt but I was going to try anyway...the worst they can do is say "no", right?. My sis thought I was insane. When I got there I explained the situation to the girl at the counter. She didn't bat an eye...no problem she said. No receipt? No problem again. They gave me a store credit, which I immediately used on other products. To be honest, I was surprised they took them back. They demonstrated a level of customer service that is getting harder and harder to find. They have a customer for life in me. read more

It's just rediculous how an entire industry has been put together to not just feed, I'd be fine with that, I'm going to say gorge themselves on the basic principle that Americans love their pets! Just about every single item in these stores are overpriced, with the exception of their loss-leaders! But rarely do you see anyone walk in, pick up a sale item and walk to the register, it doesn't happen. I recommend other stores like Smart & Final where you'd find the same exact dog food for literally 1/2 the price. And then if you haven't seen Chewy, PLEASE DO! We have 7 animals and Snow White (The Wife!) also volunteers at ALL the local shelters so we love animals. But I find it appalling that these jackwaggons openly prey on people who think they're getting a good deal or just simply don't have the means to shop 236 different stores to feed their animals, we all have to work to feed these animals. This pet store is a smaller version of Petco. They have a concentrated amount of products in a smaller store. What I love a lot about this location is that the employees are so friendly, they have a great selection of the various dog and cat food brands we use, and they price match lower prices (from petco website and other brick and mortar retailers). read more

Pretty decently stocked pet store with a wide selection of foods to include natural foods for the health conscious owners. The layout is very simple and clean with a festive vibe without the overly cluttered space of your typical pet food store. While inventory may not be as deep there is a wide selection of a wide array of products. I think the concept is more like a convenience pet food store as opposed to a warehouse so think 7-11 compared to costco. All in all, a nice clean place that works in a pinch to meet your pets needs but if you have time you might consider shopping online to get a better bargain. read more

Up until today I would give Unleashed 5 stars for all the great service we've had since the store opened . . . but not today. Today's rating would be one star or less, if possible. When I walked in the employee behind the check-out counter was yawning and continued to do so during my time in the store including when I went to check out . . . she yawned in my face. In addition, several ailes were completely blocked with new inventory on carts and on the floor. I had to move several boxes to get to the item I wanted. When I mentioned this to her, after she stopped yawning, she said "we're real busy and can't get to it right away. Had a bad experience here yesterday :( We've been using this store for a while. But have noticed that all the Tuna flavor cat foods are usually sold out. And when I needed a diuretic for my cat, the guy at the front counter said they didn't carry anything like that. But I looked right next to the hair ball medicine and there was a cat diuretic... Seems they don't know their stock. Also, a couple of times I've purchased food that has been opened in this store and have had to return it for sealed food. So, our kitty recently passed away and the kitty we still have has been very lonely. We decided to go in here yesterday for pet adoption day and adopt two new cats. The cages are shoved up front near the door so you can't bend down next to the cage without the door sliding open and shut. Frustrating for us and the cats. Next, the cages are next to the window at the end of aisles, but there is hardly enough room to manuever around the aisle ends to see the cages. That said, our real problem yesterday was that one of the female employees had brought her 3 kids with her to work and the kids were sitting on the floor in front of the cages so we couldn't get near the cages or see the cats. I asked the employee if the kids could move so we could pick out two cats to adopt and that's when she told me they were her kids. Well, they moved for about two minutes and then they were right back on the floor in front of the cages. We picked out one cat but couldn't even get to all the cages to see the other cats to pick out a second cat. What the hell?!?! I was so frustrated. Who lets their kids yell and poke at these poor babies while people are there to adopt? I finally just grabbed my hubby and we left. We will find somewhere else to adopt our cats. I am appalled that Petco wouldn't realize that excited kids scare cats and scare customers too. I'm really disappointed. read more

This place used to be good. They always had reasonable prices. Just went there today, May 14th, 2011 and something major happened. Their prices were horrible. Off the charts horrible. $2.29 for a 12oz can of Natural Balance. Down the road at an independent store it's $1.69. $17.99 for a bully stick. Paid $8.99 for the same size stick at this other store. $24.99 for a pack of dental bones. $14.99 down the street. You get the point. read more

I can say without a doubt that I received excellent service while I shopped here today. When I entered the store an employee named Deni greeted me and ask me if I needed any help. This made feel very welcome which I appreciated. I was looking for a quality cat food for my new kitten that I got a couple days ago. Another employee named Gabi offered to show me some of the best options they had. They were explaining to me what was the best food. What I really liked was the fact they explained to me in an easy to understand way so I didn't get lost! They then checked me out at the register in a very efficient and kind manner. There are people who love their pets, and then there are people who L....O....V....E their pets! For the latter group, simply popping into a generic Petco or PetSmart store for Milk Bones and a bargain squeaky ball won't do. What they crave is a special pet place with a boutique twist, and this is it. Petco, in their wisdom, figured this out... For young single people, married folks without kids or older empty nesters, their pets ARE their children and they will lavish them with every conceivable luxury they can afford. Whether that's special clothes and outfits, or shoes, or fresh refrigerated foods which are probably tastier and more nutritious than what you or I eat. I have a strong desire to preserve my Pom Pom's dignity and I refuse to dress him up in things which are simply too cute. Oh sure, I tried the doggie high-top Converse sneakers, and they were adorable, but it was obvious that he wouldn't be living in these things, so we returned them. Based on his affinity for eating bugs, dirt, hair and his own feces, he's obviously not a picky eater, so ordinary kibble will do. However I still visit here for the cool knick-knack or just to let him lap from a real doggie drinking fountain, which is only a few inches off the floor. So if you're an unabashed spoiler of all things furry, drop into Unleashed and check out their huge selection of . . . er, leashes, and other things. I was driving down to Southern California from the Bay Area with my pup and forgot her food (My Perfect Pet). I wasn't sure what to do so I started looking up places that had it, and I found Petco's Unleashed in Simi. We called to make sure they have the type we needed. At first they immediate said, no, but then they thought of it and said, oh wait, I think we might. I asked them to check and they put us on hold and then finally came back and said they found it, and that they woukd hold it for us. Once we got there 2 guys were working. They both seemed a bit confused, but we went back to the freezer section and found the food. They seemed nice, but not super knowledgeable. Props for having The Smiths on. read more

These people are the best. We brought our dog in for all 3 classes (beginning, Advanced and AKC training). When we first brought him in, he was afraid of everyone. Now he is a well-adjusted service dog, and he is amazing in public. They take the time to get to know each pet that walks through those doors. The staff is friendly, courteous and helpful. Props to this place for having the treats that all of the Petcos used to carry in their treat bars! A few months ago all of the Petcos in my area changed their treat bars to some fancy, pretentious treats. My poodle had a sensitive stomach and is a picky eater to boot. She has been snacking on the same Petco vanilla pretzels for the past nine years and turns down anything else you offer her. I was starting to freak out that I couldn't get them anymore when a Petco employee in Moorpark told me this location still carried them. So grateful! This store is really cute, looks more like a boutique then a traditional Petco. I don't really do the whole dog boutique thing, but I will keep coming here as long as they carry those pretzels! read more

This store has good prices and excellent staff. I definitely recommend it - they are knowledgeable and helped set us up for our new puppy :) Jennifer, the manager, is absolutely incredible. The staff remembered us from our previous visits and even commented on our puppy and how much she has grown. The entire staff here has a fantastic sense of humor and unbelievable patience. I wasn't sure what type of chews to get for our German Shepherd after our Vet Clinic, and Tek (the head trainer) gave our puppy a treat, picked her up and handled her very gently. You know it's a good thing when a staff member has 5 dogs. Also, this store is flexible in terms of pricing, which is unusual in my experience for stores - we spent several hundred dollars on shots for our three dogs, and saw "Blue" dog food on sale so we decided to buy out the whole batch. Because we were buying a large quantity, they gave us a bulk discount - AWESOME! By far, this store has the best staff I've seen at a chain store; they are knowledgeable and friendly, give them a try. Note: the vet clinic isn't the cheapest in town, but it's worth it for how gentle they are with your pups. We could have saved approximately $50.00 by going to Kirby's for the same shots, but I wouldn't have gone in light of the treatment we received, the high level of customer service, and all the "give-mes" we received. They even have little things like "doggie play dates" - I can't say enough good things about this place, and will sincerely miss it when we move in 4 months. read more

I called to inquire about AvoDerm dry cat food. Who ever answered the phone was short and not helpful at all. I asked if they carried the turkey dry food, she just said nope we don't carry that one at this location. I said okay, which locations would you carry this particular kind. She said I don't know our the main Petco stores should carry maybe the one in Thousand Oaks. I asked about the Simi location confusing Petsmart with Petco and she was like I don't know if they do we aren't affiliated with them. Very condescending and sarcastic. I said clearly you wouldn't, I confused the two. Just very short and unwilling to help. I called a few more stores and those employees were very sweet, took the time in helping find alternative food for the time being as well and finding locations that provide the AvoDerm flavor of cat food. read more

We just got a new puppy and I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with all that we needed. Ian was super helpful and went the extra mile to help me not just pick out a dog carrier and car seat, but set up and install the car seat for me. The puppy in my arms hadn't had all her shots yet and he also helped get her into a carrier so I could keep her with me while we toured the store and picked out some bones and toys. My dog hurt her leg, and had a really bad limp going on. I called unleashed, and Will answered. I let him know the situation, and asked what I could do to help. He disclaimed from the beginning that he wasn't a vet, but he would suggest a certain aspirin, and a bandage to help with keeping the leg in place while it healed. I went in and talked to will, and he helped me find the right products, and was so incredibly helpful! Thank you again will!
