I don't remember how I came across Unleashed but I'm really fond of their self-serve dog wash for $10. With that, they provide you with shampoo, conditioner, and brushes so you can bathe your own dog in their huge raised up tubs. They have long extended hoses that turn on/off from the attached handle so the water doesn't stay running and you can maneuver it to rinse off all areas of your dog easily. There's a pile of clean towels on a shelf by the tubs that are available as well as two blow dryers. The only con is that sometimes the shampoo that they provide you with is sometimes really watered down and I end up having to use the whole bottle they provide you with when I forget to bring my own. Also, if you come during rush hour, you can wait up to 45 minutes or more. There are only 3 tubs. You could call ahead of time for a heads up too. I've bought other dog merchandise from here also. I really love how they honor their return policy. I was really surprised. I have dogs that are really destructive with their toys, leashes, etc. I wanted to buy a toy that said it was "chew proof" (nothing is really chew proof for a determined dog but I was hoping it would mean my dog wouldn't tear it up in hours). The toy was pricey and I asked to confirm whether I can return it all tore up if it didn't last after a day and they said I had 30 days I believe. I ended up returning the toy that was in 2 pieces by the next day and got my money back. This happened several times while I tried to find the perfect toy for my dogs. All staff that helped me were wonderful. read more

Best discovery ever! Ive always had anxiety taking my sheperd to grooming places and leaving him there. After finding out about Unleashed, we tried it, and not only did my sheperd loved it, I enjoyed it as well. And even better, it was only $10 for everything. They will provide shampoo, conditioner, towels and a scrubber along with their big tin tubs with hot/cold water and dryers. Side note: Feel free to bring your own shampoo because the one they provide is watered down. And if your dog is fluffy like mine, you can ask for the cone insert for the dryer so you can dry him/her faster. read more

It was my first time bathing my new dog here and it wasn't a good experience. The staff were friendly, it's not about them or the store. My main complaint is the shampoo that was given to me was the consistancy of water. It was horrible. The conditioner was better, but still not good. The 2 towels that come with this kit were like someone's rags. They were old, worn out, not soft. I will continue to was my dogs in the bath tub at home. I thought this would be good for me with back and knee problems but it was worse. I'll continue to shop at Petco Unleashed as I love the store items and staff. Wow! I purchased a few bags here before traveling of various sizes without my dog and took them home to try. I didn't bother keeping the receipt because I used my Pals account and the cashier said it would make an easy return/exchange. Well, I tried to return an unused bag and had lost the receipt over the weekend. I was given an In store credit for $90. The manager said they no longer use pals accounts to look up purchases. The employee gave me false information. I just went online to use my in-store credit and it has $0 value! Please don't shop here, TERRIBLE customer service and even after we agreed on in-store credit, they just gave me a blank card. Or maybe the manager or employee pocketed my money. Who knows what they did, incompetency on all levels of staff here and they effectively stole from me! read more

Glad to see the Green House get a nice useful store for pet items. Large, clean and organized. It has everything you would need for your pet including a dog wash area. No animals for sale. They do have pet adoptions on certain days. Prices are a little higher than you would find else where. I haven't received any sales flyers since their opened but maybe they will soon? I did find a couple of toys on sale that I purchased for my pups. The employees were nice and friendly asking if I needed any help as I was shopping. Today was my first time at Unleashed and I have to admit that although I only intended to stop in and buy some new shampoo for my dogs, I ended up coming back later on in the evening with my doggies to utilize their self-wash stations! I've always washed my dogs at home and taken them to groomers, so this was our first time my husband and I ever used a self-wash facility. Their staff was super friendly to me and my pups, and they even offered free samples of treats at the register. They were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout my whole experience. The store is clean and well maintained. I really liked the variety in treats and they had cute collars and leashes too. The store has a cute vibe to it lol. As far as the self-wash, it's only $10 with no time limit. They provide everything you need, like towels, dryer, shampoo, a brush for my poodle, cotton balls, and a body spray for my girl (mini poodle) to smell pretty and my boy (pitbull) to smell manly lol. My cashier gave me some of the supplies I would need. He walked me over to the self-wash area and showed me where everything was and how to use the equipment. He was really friendly and offered to help if we ran into any problems or had any requests. Their tubs were clean and there were plenty of shampoo and towels on the rack to use. Not much of a selection on the shampoo, but they'll do the job. Actually, I did have to use the shampoo I had purchased earlier because i love how bright it makes my white little poodle, and the shampoo they provided wasn't really giving me the same results. My husband used the free stuff though and it worked fine on our pitbull. Drying my little dog is always a challenge when I dry her at home. I use a hair dryer on cool air and it seems to take forever to dry her hair. She's pretty fluffy! At their drying station I was probably only there for about 5 minutes. It was pretty strong though for my little one, so she was lightweight freaking out, but the staff would come to check in on us and give our dogs treats and really comfort them. I really like the fact that you can tell that the employees enjoy their job and are knowledgable about their furry customers' needs. Our overall experience was awesome. I've heard of other places issuing 15-minute "tokens" to use at their wash stations, so I think it's a great value coming to Unleashed to self-wash your doggies. I will definitely come back to purchase more goodies and use their facilities again! read more

This particular Unleashed, and general pet supply store, is our favorite! Relatively well stocked with all the essentials. Self-washing stations are clean and organized with shampoos, towels, dryers etc. for $10. The best part about this store is the customer service! Love that they LOVE the animals that come in and are always so friendly to our pup. They don't know my name, but they certainly know his! Amelia, the trainer, is always wonderful. She welcomes my questions and is always more than happy to give me training tips (even though we've yet to attend any of her puppy training classes :x). Our Kuma will also run to her immediately and flop over for that belly rub. We've yet to be disappointed, and for the most part will find everything we need on a more immediate basis. Now we will wait for them to put up their Petco Pets wall so we can add our photo to it :D. read more

I came into Unleashed because it's the closest pet store to my house and since it was late in the evening, I knew I needed as much time as I could get trying to find the best food. After about 20 min of comparing labels, a sweet girl asked if she could help. I told her the problem and she quickly ushered me to the best dog food for my needs. She also offered up a couple of things to try at home with different options (yogurt, or pumpkin) The food worked like a charm and my pup is back to her regular eating habits!!!!! I like coming to the location. A few things that need improvement are the aprons need cleaning more often. I had one on and it smell of mildew. I mentioned it to a staff and was told they cant clean them every day. Also no where to hang your belongings. I like the size of this pet store. I love my pup, but thinking about having to walk around a costco sized warehouse to find something she likes makes me tired. The GF and I came here one night (10 mins before closing) and their front doors were still wide open. We browsed around and took our time.. no one bothered us to leave or no annoying intercom warnings about closing in x minutes. It was nice. Very pleased. Walked in to buy bird food and to my luck, found an "oops!" Bag. Had my 1.5 yr old with me and as you can imagine, she was getting into everything. The associate was amazing with her. After Making the purchase, I believe his name was Guy, came over and had a mini conversation with my daughter who had a basket filled with dog clothing. He kept her company as we took the items out to place them back. Employees like him are what make coming to the stores even more inviting. read more

I have mixed thoughts on this place. Starting when I first walked in. I brought my dog here planning to buy a kennel/cage for his size. When we first walked through the door, no employee was in sight, which was very odd. While I was on my way over to where they kept the kennels, I saw an employee working on restocking dog food; we made eye contact but she didn't say anything to me. I thought that it was weird that my first interaction with an employee was a blank stare. Anyways, I found the size kennel I needed and I was blown away with how expensive it was. It was about double the cost of the kennels you would find at a Walmart. I know this because I checked. The kennel at this location was $80 compared to $40 elsewhere. The only reason why I stopped here was because it was getting late and we were just coming back home from a 6-hour road trip and we just really wanted to grab food from the Safeway next door and to grab a kennel for my dog to sleep in for the night. When I took the item to check out, I had a different experience with employee #2. She had a pleasing voice and was extremely friendly. She asked if I had a membership because if I did it would save me an additional 12 dollars. Fast forward, I bought the kennel but ended up returning it the next day because I ended up finding another one for half the price at Walmart. Overall the store looks clean and organized but I cannot justify their prices. read more

Today I had a bad experience at this store. I am a loyal customer and come wash my 2 small dogs every 3 weeks and have been doing so for at least 3 years. I usually do it in the morning but today I was busy and I called in and they said the last wash was at 8:15pm. So I drove around 20 mins and got there exactly at 8:03pm and asked for a wash. The cashier said they close at 8pm and refused to let me wash the dogs even though it was only 3 mins after, I explained they said it was 8:15 but he didn't care and another lady came over and rudely said it was 8pm no matter what I had been told. read more

I LOVE this store!!! first off the carry My Perfect Pet here, which is a really hard food to find in stores. (it is a really good food though!) you usually have to order it online. and i love that they have really good quality products here that you cant find at most places. they have Merrick food products which are also really good. they have a really good selection of quality beds which at most other places you can tell the material is cheap. but that wasn't the case here. and the things aren't overpriced either which is nice. they have a lot of cool things here. Ive only been here once so i havent gotten a chance to check out everything, but i will most defiantly be back!! read more

The employees are always friendly. They have a self dog wash for $10 bucks which is awesome. We have a husky and by the time we are done bathing him the hair is everywhere! They do all the cleanup! It's definitely worth checking out. Their dog food selection is a little slim but they carry only the brands that are better... none of that beneful pedigree crap! I am very bothered by this place. This is my second time coming here because it's close to my house when I am in urgent need of pet supplies. Today 4/6 at 2:12 I walked into the store. Not one sales representative greeted me. There were only two workers in the store. On cashier names Bianca. She was talking to her co-worker who looked like management and not once came and asked us if we needed help. We were staring at the dog shampoo for at least five min with no assistance. They walked passed us talking. She just stayed at the register as If it was busy. The funny part. My husband and I were the only customers. As we are headed to check out a customer walked in looking at pet clothes and they were greeted and has full conversations. We purchased our items and left with frustration. The customers that were greeted did not purchase anything as we saw them Leave the store. I suggest to others if your big on customer service or do need help with an item in that store, to go else where. I am so unhappy. read more

Have been a 'card carrying' Petco rewards member for awhile, every now and then get a postcard co-branded with Petco/Unleashed special deals. I was heading south on 880, stopped into Unleashed in San Leandro for the advertised cat litter (two brands were on sale). Neither brand was available at Unleashed, apparently they do not carry Tidy Cat (one of the brands carried everywhere on the planet it seems) and the other brand she could not locate. Not sure what the big whoop is about Unleashed, from the reviews it appears to cater to the dog crowd, 21 of their reviews contains the word 'dog', only two mention 'cat', they should have called it Dogs R Us. All the cute items I used to shop for are no more....no more cute small dog accessories or cute harnesses. They don't seem to restock seasonal items. I like this place a lot, and I love the fact that it's close to San Lorenzo (It's technically in San Leandro). It's a good place to stop and get stuff for my pup, especially if it's something last minute. They have everything. And I can easily find treats made in the USA, don't use corn or soy blah blah blah. So that's always nice. The workers are really nice, tho they tend to lose enthusiasm at the end of the night, which is understandable, but don't get mad when I ask my questions before you close :) read more

While the store itself is great, this review is specifically for their free puppy socials that they offer every Sunday. I have been to many socials in my dog handling career and my experience includes assisting a Bravo Pup trainer during her puppy socials at the Pet Food Express on Davis. I also work with dogs as a supervisor at a dog hotel / day care. I have witnessed one of their puppy socials with my Great Dane puppy and thought the whole time that I didn't like the way that they corrected dogs from doing unwanted behaviors (i.e. humping, nipping, rough housing, etc.). They are the most strict puppy social I have ever witnessed so if you have a puppy that tends to have mouthy or humpy play, I would stray away as you will probably be holding your puppy in "time out" 99% of the social. Find a puppy social with Bravo Pup instead. If you have a shy puppy or one with PERFECT play (i.e. chase and NO mouthing) then you are all set to have a great social at Unleashed. I knew, off top, that these trainers were not knowledgable when they said my puppy was very shy. Clearly not reading my dog's body language correctly, as he started playing within less than 3 minutes. ANYWHO, I typically work on Sunday's so Papa took our puppy to class yesterday. As I will admit I have no accurate knowledge as to what exactly happened, but Theo ended up getting a good few scratches on the inside of his ear during a small altercation. Ear cuts tend to bleed A LOT, but with the proper after care, they should heal correctly with no problems. I get a text from my boyfriend telling me that the trainer put powder on his cuts, thus sealing the wound. Professionals that work with dogs should know the danger of sealing ANY wounds, as bacteria can get trapped inside... especially without cleaning them prior to sealing. When I called to express my concerns, the trainer claimed that the powder had special antibiotic stuff in it... which I am very suspicious about. Powder is used to stop bleeding, which trainer, Amelia, told me there was not a lot of - so why the powder? She told me her intention was to seal it and when I asked if she cleaned it prior she answered no. My boyfriend (Theo being his first dog) did not know any better to correct her. Because of the poor after care of Theo's cuts, he has a large lump on his ear where she sealed it. BESIDES the incorrect sealing of his wound, HOW this happened is confusing to me because this class never lets these dogs do anything unless their play is absolutely perfect. When I asked how this happened, her story was completely different than my boyfriend's and she said it "happened too fast". Trust me... with the amount of dogs that I work with, I know that things happen. But the professional's job is to ensure that things do not escalate. I would not be upset had the trainer handled the situation properly. This lack of knowledge just confirms my uneasiness with pretty much all Petco, PetSmart, or Unleashed trainers. Provided you know absolutely nothing about how to do the basic training for your new puppy, I recommend these large chain stores. However, if you need to deal with a more difficult puppy (or if you want to raise a very good puppy in general), I definitely recommend doing a lot of research and finding more experienced trainers. Again... Trust me. I end up seeing a lot of clients that have "graduated" from these stores that still need a lot of work as adults. While I believe owners are most of the problem, through my experience, the socialization that puppies experience between 8-12 weeks is so damn important! Make it count and go to trainers that know what the hell they are doing. read more

I'm confused by a lot of these reviews. I walked in today with my boyfriend and we browsed the store for over 30 minutes. We were not greeted, nor approached by any of the workers. During the first 5 minutes I had thought there were no workers on the sales floor. We walked by a few workers and not one of them even glanced at us or asked if we needed any help. When we went to check out there was a woman holding a large 30# bag of dog food for about 3 minutes before anyone came up to ring her. Great customer service??? read more
