This Unleashed has most of what you need but a smaller footprint compared to regular Petcos. I will now probably go to the South Shore Alameda main one. I went in on a holiday weekend. There were 3 tubs, but only 2 available. The two individuals working there HAD to be knew, unable to articulate the process on renting a tub as they were SITTING at the front counter, chopping it up and not very interested in attempting to clean the area (this was approximately 10:30am!). When I asked one employee to clean the tub and the floor so I didn't slip or track dog hair back to my car, this was her finished product.... Service was dead this day. Shameful. I really like this place and prefer it over the other self service locations in Alameda. read more

Looks like I am not the only one who has experienced the lack of customer service from the moment one enters the store. I have visited the store 3 times. No welcome. Absolutely no attempt to be courteous upon check out. Yesterday just takes the cake for me. Death stares from the two women at the cash register in an store devoid of other customers. What is up with their crappy attitude??? Pet Food Express is my store. I will cross town from the west end from now on. They are are helpful and cheerful each time I enter store. I visited the store years ago and though conveniently near by, I was not thrilled. Now with a new dog, I tried, again. As I entered the store, you could hear a pin drop. There was no activity in the store except for the clerks who were gathered at the counter chatting away. I felt I interrupted their convesation as I saw at least four eyeballs trained on my entrance trying to determine, (maybe) if I was there supervisor, or who I was and what I was going to buy. The look was so severe, I needed to break the awkwardness by saying hello - ever have this type of situation? The staff were ignorant of me and my wandering through the store. I didn't find a few treats, but realistically, I can go to Target across the parking lot and get the same items (and with a better experience). I left the place thinking how Unleashed has stayed in business at Alameda Landing. PS - I read a few of the comments and I seem to be echoing the samething. The Petco Managment or Owner of Unleashed must not be taking these comments to heart. :-( read more

I've been to Alameda Landing shopping Center probably a thousand times and this was the first time I came to Unleashed. Not quite sure the difference between this store and a regular Petco but my guess is the size of the store. It's smaller but has everything needed for our furry friends. Upon walking in, I was greeted immediately by the friendly employees. They asked if I was looking for anything in particular which I was. I asked where the cat litter liners were located and they directed me to the aisle it was located. During checkout, I noticed that the price was a few dollars cheaper on Petco's website. The employee made sure I got the price on their website. Overall I was very happy with this store. It's very organized and clean. The employees are knowledgeable and helpful. read more

It's fine, that's all. I use the DIY dog bath at the back of the store for my Shepsky, and it's worth the $20. I try to get there when they open so I don't have to wait for the higher-pressure wash on the right. If you haven't been to one of these before, you pay up front then take your dog to the back. I normally use a harness but use a leash here. They provide shampoo, towels, and a brush but I take a bag with own supplies. Big towel, our shampoo, deshedder brush, ear cover, training treats, etc. Grab the metal step and place it in front of the tub for big dogs. Lift up the metal gate in front and lead your dog up. Training treats help first timers. With my large dog, it's easier to keep her in the tub while drying instead of moving her to the table. That would never work. Or you can dry your pupper on the floor if your back can take it. Ear covers made for drying help keep them calm. So I recommend the store for the bath, but I feel like it's too pricey in general and usually buy elsewhere. read more

Terrible customer service every time I come. Employees seem unhappy and are rude/uninterested.

This place has the WORST customer service. The vibe there is dismal. I came in to find a particular toy for my dog, two service workers were unable to even acknowledge me when I entered, were talking really loudly to each other about gossip, the manager was talking sh*t about some girl he tried to get with to a female employee - that's obviously more important than greeting and helping your customers. My dog and I walked around he eerily vacant and depressing store, could not find the product we were looking for, so I went up to the two workers who were still prioritizing sexist sounding gossip and asked them if they had the product, then the manager guy just frowned at me and said "Not at MY location" - and didn't even bother to seem friendly, helpful, or sorry at all. I take it he wanted me to know this was HIS place but without taking respectful ownership for it's short comings. We walked out after that empty handed and I will never return. Go to Petfood Express in the south end of the island, they actually care about you and your experience there! This place has no soul - such a waste of time. read more

Date: 2/23/2015 Time: 3:45 PM. Weather: 65° Sunny and clear Today is the first day of business for Unleashed by Petco in Alameda Landing. There will be grand opening events starting next week. According to the gentleman (manager?) assisting me, the difference between Petco and Unleashed is Petco sells pets (kittens, birds, fish) and Unleashed does not. He also gave me a tour of the store, showing me the types of products they carry. Ambiance: Spacious, well lit store with pet supplies (food, snacks/treats, shampoos, toys, frozen items, dog beds, etc.) for cats and dogs. Upon entrance through double glass door, cat products are to the left and dog products to the right. There is a machine to make a pet ID tag. They have an area in the back of the store for pet wash. Cost is $10. Store will provide customer with cleaning and grooming supplies, apron and towels in a basket. Customer service: Excellent! Manager and Cynthia acknowledged me immediately and they also acknowledged other customers in the same manner. Both were friendly, gracious, helpful and personable. Purchases: two bags of Merrick doggie treats - wingalings (applewood bacon flavor) and Grammy's pot pie (oven-baked with real chicken, potatoes, peas and carrots). Products made in the USA. Cost (tax included): $15.24. Husband was wondering why I was in store for more than 1/2 hour. He came in and spent money, too...lol. His purchases: Zenpet ProCone, which is a soft recovery collar, and a container of healing cream for hot spots and wound care for our dog, Teddy. These products also made in USA. Cost (tax included): $46.85. Final thoughts: Unleashed will be our go-to store for pet supplies and pet wash. No more traveling across town for our pet needs. I absolutely love this place. The associates are always so welcoming and willing to assist their customers. Today, Michael was there to help. He is always very professional, kind and engaging with his customers. I went in and asked information about flea and tick treatments and he took his time to point out all of the items they had and described each item carefully. I am always so relieved when I walk in and see him because he is very knowledgeable and you can tell he really enjoys his job. In a matter of 30 minutes, Erica has dropped some real knowledge on how to train our new puppy. We would be totally lost without her! We purchased a 4 session 1:1 pack and are definitely looking forward to more sessions and learning more with our pup. She was positive, upbeat, and most importantly gave us valuable feedback. The way the blonde veterinarian, Sara, treats people who are not white is disgusting. In the span of my visit, she completely ignored the LatinX young man who was trying to get his dog vaccinated and yelled at the Black woman who noticed her rude behavior and was calling her out to mind her own business and that she was no doctor and to stop talking. Beyond unprofessional, the veterinarian's behavior was disgusting. ALL people deserve to be treated with respect. Don't support this business that allows this behavior from its employees. read more

I came here today looking for a specific brand of dog food for my 2 year old pitbull. I have tried many brands and it seems the only brand she enjoys, and works best for her is the brand Orijen. I walked in and the staff were extremely right off the bat. I was welcomed by the cashier at the front and another employee asked if I needed help as I walked towards the back. I asked her if they carried Orijen and she informed me no. I asked for a comparable brand and she was honest and recommended brands that were most comparable but said she wouldn't want to sell me anything that isn't what's the best for my dog and if Orijen is the food that works, that's what I should stick with. She recommended other stores in the area and I couldn't be happier that she legitimately cared about what's best for my dog instead of forcing a sale. I'd give this store a 5 star review if they carried Orijen dog food, but for sure at least 4 stars for customer service and honesty. read more

I bring my piggies in every so often to pick up Feline Pine if I happen to be in the area. All sales people are friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful! It's convenient for me to shop here since it's very close to my work - they have the essentials and I can usually find what I need. It's more of a "boutique" style pet store rather than the large chains so don't expect them to have endless choices of limitless products. While on the smaller side, they do have A LOT of items in the store - take your time to peruse and learn where everything is; it's worth the stop! :-) read more

The store and products themselves get three stars. I would say the service I received the two times I went (once with my husband and once solo) leave much to be desired at two stars. The store: it's a pet store. They have a good array of products for cats, dogs, birds, etc. Their cat litter and cat food selection are on the more pricey side and not the brand that my cat prefers. The aesthetic of the store is rather bland and sterile, it is not an interesting experience shopping there. It is a quick in and out type place (probably to go along with the In & Out that just opened up). The service: the service I received was not the best nor was it the worst but it definitely needs improvement. The tall, thin Anglo male who "assisted" both times has an irritating attitude--almost like he thinks he is too pretty to work there and it is an inconvenience to help you find something. The first visit he did ask, "Can I help you with anything?" but with a condescending tone--as if he really did not want to help you with anything. Even his "suggestion" to get a covered cat litter box managed to sound judgmental as all get out. "Every time I ask my friends if they have a covered litter box and they say 'no,' I'm all, 'your house smells like cats.' " First of all, they have a cat. Of course there would be a cat smell. Do you mean to say the house smells like cat urine or an uncleaned litter box? Because those are two different scenarios altogether. It is an uncomfortable experience--almost like I'd rather just be left alone than have someone force themselves to lower their integrity by assisting me. But it's fine, I guess, if you're into that. Improvements: the store should hire more genuine human beings. read more

I have two hairy dogs,took them to this place for a bath , once stared the blow dryer, the fuse popped.and the cashier didn't have the key to the fuse box . Had to leave the place we too wet dog.not a Pleasant experience. read more

I was at the Alameda dog park with my Shiba Cooper when it started raining. Since the park is all sand, my dog (no surprise) got pretty dirty. Lucky for me I had seen this place just opened close by and decided to stop in and use the self wash. I've never used one before but it was great! Definitely felt like I could scrub better and get my dog cleaner than when I wash him in my bathtub at home. Also nice that I didn't have to clean up all the fur after either! (Although I did try to cause I felt bad about all the fur everywhere). I felt like the $10 I spent was worth it to not have to bring anything else except my dirty dog and get to use a professional dog washing setup. I did find the shampoo they gave a little strange cause it was the consistency of water and not a thicker normal shampoo consistency. It's like they were afraid people were going to use too much shampoo and tried to conserve it by mixing it with a bunch of water. I did ask about it at some point but they said that's the way it was supposed to be so who knows. Tip - I would avoid the dog wash on the right hand side as the metal shelf on the wall just happens to be head height and can be painful when you accidentally hit your head on it while trying to get hair out of your face. I didn't get a chance to explore the rest of the store but they seemed to have the usual Unleashed offerings. The staff was friendly and checked up on us occasionally while we were giving Cooper a bath. They were thankfully not alarmed either (or didn't say anything) whenever my dog shiba screamed during the bath like we were torturing him. Overall, I will definitely be back here to use the self wash! read more

It was my first time shopping at this store. I was shopping for someone else and unfamiliar with the layout of the store. Kitten, who is the manager of the store, was friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in. I showed her my list and she helped me find everything in about 10 minutes. Kitten was efficient and really knows her stuff which was apparent by how well organized and well stocked the store is. I went to get a flea collar for my cat. I was told that it was for sale online and the woman bought it with her tablet using my info. I was told that I would get it delivered NO LATER than Tuesday. It's Thursday and now I'm being told that UPS delivered it to USPS to deliver to us by Saturday AN ENTIRE WEEK after I ordered it. I called Petco and asked to speak to a manager and she didn't help at ALL. I told her that our flea problem was bad and that I would have paid FULL price had I known that it would take this long. I WAS TOLD NO LATER THAN TUESDAY So unhelpful and no resolution. So I said then you can't help me at all with any of this & she said "well you did get the sales price and you should have it by Saturday". WHAT! This is not customer service. read more

Unleashed is a fantastic place to take your pet. They have a variety of food, toys, costumes, treats, and much more. One of the best things is that they have a "wash your pet yourself" station, and it only costs $10; it includes: shampoo, conditioner, a mini bathtub with harness hooks to make sure your pet doesn't jump out, brushes, and an area to dry your pet, this is a fantastic deal! Another great thing is that the employees are always (well most of the time) friendly, they usually love all the animals and are glad to help. Unleashed is also great because of their classes they have, most are for dogs so if one is looking for puppy training classes, they have them!(they also have "fun days" where many people bring their dogs and they get to "hang out". Unleashed is a very good establishment that everyone should visit. read more

Very good, nearly great! We usually go to Pet Food Express for self dog wash, but we went here because it was open on New Years. The good: the tubs are low and secure, and the staff provide you with a brush, shampoo, conditioner, an apron, towels. The bad: there is (currently) only one dryer. Since we were the first dog wash of the year, they gave it to us for free! They are very nice! read more

The staff here were really helpful and knowledgeable. I came in tonight somewhat panicked about my dog's awful skin product.
