Date: 2/23/2015 Time: 3:45 PM. Weather: 65° Sunny and clear Today is the first day of business for Unleashed by Petco in Alameda Landing. There will be grand opening events starting next week. According to the gentleman (manager?) assisting me, the difference between Petco and Unleashed is Petco sells pets (kittens, birds, fish) and Unleashed does not. He also gave me a tour of the store, showing me the types of products they carry. Ambiance: Spacious, well lit store with pet supplies (food, snacks/treats, shampoos, toys, frozen items, dog beds, etc.) for cats and dogs. Upon entrance through double glass door, cat products are to the left and dog products to the right. There is a machine to make a pet ID tag. They have an area in the back of the store for pet wash. Cost is $10. Store will provide customer with cleaning and grooming supplies, apron and towels in a basket. Customer service: Excellent! Manager and Cynthia acknowledged me immediately and they also acknowledged other customers in the same manner. Both were friendly, gracious, helpful and personable. Purchases: two bags of Merrick doggie treats - wingalings (applewood bacon flavor) and Grammy's pot pie (oven-baked with real chicken, potatoes, peas and carrots). Products made in the USA. Cost (tax included): $15.24. Husband was wondering why I was in store for more than 1/2 hour. He came in and spent money, too...lol. His purchases: Zenpet ProCone, which is a soft recovery collar, and a container of healing cream for hot spots and wound care for our dog, Teddy. These products also made in USA. Cost (tax included): $46.85. Final thoughts: Unleashed will be our go-to store for pet supplies and pet wash. No more traveling across town for our pet needs. Welcome, Unleashed to a neighborhood that's closer to my home.

Thank you Celena for the great customer service and the other lady working on Labor day about 2pm. My cane corso and I had a great time in your store and her bath was just what she needed. Great Job! Sonoma and I will be back :)

The staff can be rude, indifferent, and sometimes unaccountable. Phone calls rarely get answered in real time. I've never had this experience with another clinic - if they can't answer, most will at least acknowledge you and put you hold. One time I even had to come in person because no one answered the phone, despite being on hold the whole time. When I walked in, there were no other patients in the lobby, so it's unclear why calls aren't answered. Again, there is a pattern of not answering the phone. I also have always found it odd and somewhat off putting that the front counter displays a sign suggesting the "most valuable gift" is promoting referrals to others. Very business forward... The last straw for us was having to wait two weeks for a tech appointment (for an injection) when our dog was itching a lot. They had no other options to help her feel comfortable in the meantime and didn't seem to care, so we ended up going to another vet who could see her the same week. We appreciate the care they gave our dog over the years, and we've always had a positive experience with Dr. Rabbi. Unfortunately, due to the drop in service and attentiveness, we will not be returning.

They patiently endured all kinds of rudeness, borderline harassment, and ungrateful treatment from owners who were clearly stressed about their animals. It was very obvious that everyone who works here has the safety and health of the animals in mind, even when the adults are less than grateful. Everyone whose pet was stable was seen in order, which took some time because while we were there they got 2 different animals who required emergency treatment and were immediately rushed back. While we were waiting the staff chatted with us and generally made us feel really welcome. The vet was very clear and understanding about what was going on with our dog and we left with the right treatment and medicines. She is now feeling much better.

They really took care of my girl in oncology but she didn't make it. They provided clear expectations on the quality of life for my two elders girls and helped me make the right decisions to put them to rest. My youngest cat, who we only had for less than two years, has shown sign of chronic gastrointestinal issues and every time we've take him in, they weren't as compassionate. Within his less than two years of life, he's been to the ER for the same symptoms four times. Three were at PETs. We chose to bring him here because of our past experience with our girls. For his care here, the vets were evasive and push incredible expensive diagnostic that didn't actually solve the issue. Every single time they just gave him pain meds after blood work and radiology showed nothing wrong. We didn't want to say anything, but Dr. Peterson seemed to be on a stimulant or some kind of meds while she spoke to us. She kept repeating the same questions over and over after we answered them and was talking a mile a minute and continously interrupting us. It was jarring. She wouldn't refer us to a specialist or internal medicine unless we wanted to pay even more. This is very predatory. Thankfully, we brought him to another facility for the same situation when we couldn't make it to PETs. After gathering records from that office and PETS, this facility called me and sent me a list of internal medicine practices I could take my cat to. They did this without forcing us to come in or saying they couldn't do it unless we did more procedures. They got back to me the same day with his records. This is a stark difference from how we were treated at PETs. PETs didn't send his records for several days. They spelled my name wrong several times after asking me multiple times how to spell it and continued to say they could help us further unless we wanted to pay more. They have become a money-grabbing predatory practice. And I can only say this with confidence because of the stark difference on how we were treated at PETs vs the other facility. We have enough evidence to take him to internal endoscopy ourselves without dealing with PETs anymore I'm really sad to rank this place so low. For the surgery, Dr. Jones did an incredible job. She successfully removed everything--it was a best-case scenario, especially since it was a delicate surgery on my dog's face. Dr. Macdonald provided her opinions to the team and is extremely knowledgeable about mast cell tumors. She makes sure to let you know about ALL possible outcomes but always aims for the best possible scenario. That said, the communication leading up to it was difficult. Dr. Berkley was initially scheduled to do the surgery due to a scheduling mix up. She provided some conflicting and alarming information not specific to the medical evidence present in my dog's particular case. She backed out suddenly on the day of surgery after seeing my dog. That shook me a bit, and I think the bedside manner and case review before phone calls could be improved. But ultimately, the care itself from Dr. Jones, Dr. Macdonald and Dr.Partin was top-notch. I'd still give them five stars, because the surgical outcome and overall skill were outstanding and I'm grateful for their service every day.

They took great care of our sweet Bailey for the last few years of his life, but the shining star was how they showed up during his decline. Dr. Jones was incredibly attentive, patient, and kind as she walked us through her professional opinion and exhausted all options for our beloved cat. She validated my every fear and concern about deciding when it was time to let him go. When it came time for his last appointment, he was seen by Dr. Caraballo. We had not met her before, but the compassion and warmth she showed us made a world of a difference in a very sad day. The entire Grand Lake team went above and beyond to provide support to not only Bailey, but to his heartbroken moms during the last few days of his life. They even sent us a handwritten card signed by all the doctors who had met him, which was especially thoughtful and touched our hearts. Highly recommend Grand Lake for their high quality care and compassionate veterinary team.

While I spent a lot of money, I was happy to know that my dog finally got some treatment for his arthritis. Due to my schedule, they scheduled me for his monthly Librela shot at the Pacific location. I got a call today (on the day of his appointment) saying that I need a record of his vaccinations before he can get his second dosage of Liberla shot. During the first visit, they never once mentioned that I need to submit his record of vaccinations, as I don't have them. They said that according to CA law, they can't give him his Librela shot without the rabies booster, which is understandable, but I wish they would have told me that even prior to sedating him, giving him X-rays and his first dosage of Librela. Since my dog desperately needs his Librela shot today, I asked if they could comped the $37 rabies shot. They said "no". I spent $1800 on the first vet visit and his monthly Librela shot is $180. I would have never done that if I would have known about their requirements and terrible customer service. The reception stood firm on their $37 rabies shot requirement, never apologized or even empathized with my frustration. It's ridiculous how fast they take our money, then make rules and refuse to compromise because they know that our pets need the car. Very disappointing.

Marina Village Review…read more TLDR: If you would like to get obscenely over-charged, manipulated, lied to, misled, and then discarded when they can't get more money out of you, then definitely go to Marina Village. You don't have to believe me. You can see the actual EVIDENCE in the documents below: I had three bad experiences with Marina Village: 1). A quote from Marina Village for $3285.53 $3542.33 vs. the invoice for $1787 that actually paid at Modern Animal. That is almost $2K in "ad ons" that Marina Village charges EXTRA for (such as anesthesia and pain meds), but are "included" standard by Modern Animal and other reputable vets. See copies of the estimate from Marina Village vs the actual invoice from Modern Animal. Totally appalling. That is almost $2K more than their competition. 2). I needed a USDA health travel certificate, and they told me I could only get one if I transferred my dog's care to their office. The ONLY REASOn I put up with this vet is because of the travel certificate. I made an appointment (for $700 for an exam and paperwork), but two days later, Dawn, the practice manager, cancelled my appointment because their staff wasn't trained they didn't want to fulfill their promise. I changed vets exclusively for the certificate, and they refused to provide me the service because and untrained staffer decided to research everything herself instead of asking me for records that I had readily available, but she didn't ask for. No apology, no empathy, no nothing. See the email below for proof. Yet, they are still listed with the USDA and still misleading people and taking their money. Needless to say, I sent a message to the USDA to complain about false advertising. 3). I felt manipulated by one of the vets into a completely unnecessary procedure while I was reeling from the loss of my husband to cancer, and the pressure of taking care of my mom who had just had a stroke. Details below. You have been warned! But don't take my word for it -- look at the evidence I am sharing.
