We come here fairly regularly for the pet wash. It's clean, convenient, and easy to use. There's already towels and treats for your pet too. Hector, the assistant manager is always very friendly and helpful as well. Great option for getting some treats for your pup as well as for the self service dog wash! read more

After an absence of visiting, I found that there were changes to the products that were carried. However, it seemed it was staying true to changing times and perhaps were the expected standard is in today's marketplace. I spoke with a couple of staff members, who were helpful and knowledgeable. Incredibly rude man behind the counter. I asked if they had matts to prevent slipping after a bath he says " I have never seen a store with them" repeatedly. My elderly dog of course slips all over the floor and he couldn't care less. The tub was not clean, almost no soap came out and the man clearly hates his job. Was recommended to go to this location by a friend, I should have gone to the other location. Mines doesn't do Vet visits. Upon arrival, one of the Vet staff checking people in was in the middle of a verbal dispute with a Bulldog owner. Didn't catch the convo. Just know he wasn't welcoming at all. She yelled to me and 2 other dog owners to line up against the wall. I literally was there for 25-40 minutes and a standing disabled person with dog voimt in me to be told when it became my time she could not assist because of a dog that needs its space. I forgot what word she used to say it but I did ask her what it meant, and she replied aggressive like to bark, etc. So I went to explain to the other 2 doggie parents why we couldn't be seen using the world aggressive. The owner of tge chihuahua snapped, "Don't call my dog aggressive, and pointing over here." I explained to her I have the same dog at home, and the one I'm with mother is Chihuahua, so I get it. Her daughter gone say what a mother. So my response is you a bad mother, and that's when the same staff started telling at me like the Frenchie owner " you cant talk to my customers like that" I do have freedom of speech they attacked me first. I'm trying to figure out how the system works, and that's when she recommended me to another clinic. I asked her to write it down the information because my hands were nasty from motion sickness voitmit. All she wrote was a name that wasn't even the hispitals' real name. Yes! we traveled an hour and a half to be seen. I asked for wet wips she gave me 3 dry paper towels, asked if she could wet them she said No!. So I went to the cashier and noticed blue towels folded in a storage unit asked for one and got it. Note to company, and I hope not future patrons. The system she has going is no good. If you know you're busy and you need x amount of time to care for a special pet, why would you have 3 people waiting to be turned away? She could have done that when we first got there instead of wasting our time, humiliation, and discrimination. My dig never had shots, so she put us at risk for nothing. Please change the system that makes no sense, or should I say that the discrimination that's happening at this location needs to be removed. You should have a better idea of how many dogs you could see in a day without time wasting humiliation and discrimination, and very bad customer service. One star for the towel, and note you just lost a very valuable client. The clinic opens at 2:30 but the virtual que opens at 2:00pm. So essentially you don't have to be there in person at 2:00pm (they won't serve you unless you're on the virtual que). Try to get there a few minutes early to complete new pet registration. REVIEW: They are a small clinic section in the pet friendly store. Super affordable for those without pet insurance (I do not condone this but things happen). Quick and easy if you read and do a bit of preparation before going. In and out of there in about 15-20 minutes. Did a puppy visit 1 package and also a rabies plus microchip because he's old enough. Grabbed a few treats and toys for my pup on the way out. There's also a bathing station for pets too. The whole store (including the staff) are super pet-centric and pet-friendly meaning they actually care about your visit. The vet was pretty fast as a walk in but the only thing I wasn't a fan of were the vet techs. Doctor was amazing and informative, but the techs didn't seem too confident which made me a bit anxious. Fast, easy dog wash experience. It's been a while since I washed my dog. $18 felt a little pricey but she needed to be cleaned.

This is the store I normally come to because of the selection for higher quality dog food and the great staff. Speaking of the great staff I came by 3/14/23 a little after 6pm with my puppy. The three staff members greeted us at the register and gave my puppy treats as she was scared of being in a new environment. Unfortunately an odd man had followed me into the store and while I was picking up my items, the man came over yelling something and tried to unhook the leash off of my puppy's harness. I grabbed my puppy away from him and yelled for him to get away. As I tried to make more space between the man and me, the employees did a great job of getting the man out of the store and making sure my puppy and I were safe. I am so grateful to the staff here for making my puppy feel welcome when we first entered and ensuring our safety. The staff have always been great at helping me select food and treats for my older dog with several allergies. The B3G1 free promo makes things much easier on us. Customer service in this location is not the best compared to other locations. We went to take our dog for a wash at this location and we needed a little bit more time to dry our dog, and they told us we had to use another coin just to use the dryer another 5 minutes. Other locations have been super okay with giving us a little bit more time to dry our dog. We try to dry her ASAP but sometimes it doesn't work out. My husband went to ask again and they gave him another coin but the lady was not happy. After, we shopped for our cats and you could just feel the cold shoulder they were giving us. We definitely did not feel welcomed and after we paid they didn't even asked if we needed a bag. I could of asked for a bag but we just wanted to leave. It felt like they were doing many of these small things out of spite because we asked for more time. We never demanded, yelled or were rude about asking. I do want to make clear that this was from some of the employees and not everyone. However, we won't be coming to this location anymore. read more

This is by far the most accommodating pet store I've ever been to. IF YOU HAVE A DOG REACTIVE PET, COME HERE. We have a dog who is reactive to other dogs, but also has tons of fur that requires the heavy duty dryer for each bath (so a wash at home just doesn't cut it). We came in to use the phenomenal pet wash area, and mentioned to the staff that maybe they could give us a heads up if another dog came in for a bath so we could escape. Not only did they give us a heads up every time a dog came in the store (over and beyond!), they offered that we could come in for a bath in the morning before the open (wha!! ) We now have a great relationship with Anthony where we just call the day before and he'll let us in for 30 min before they open so we have the store securely to ourselves and can wash our dog without any stress. Our dog used to be stressed about going into the store b/c she'd occasionally hear and smell other dogs, but now she runs into the doors with excitement!! Her very own safe space with no stressful stimuli! I also love not having to be totally on guard the whole time. Everyone's stress is significantly reduced thanks to Anthony, the rest of the staff and their kindness. It's not common that pet stores recognize the spectrum of dog behavior, let alone put in programs that accomodate for it. They deserve all the support and business they can get. Thank you! read more

The store is huge, clean, plenty of parking, has a lovely water front walk behind the shop and is staffed by incredibly friendly folks who clearly love animals! The team members are incredibly patient whenever my overly excited dog joins me for a visit, because you can tell they genuinely enjoy animals and have been trained on interacting with a wide variety of pet personalities in the store. Their friendliness toward my pup puts me at ease. I know anytime I bring my dog here, she'll have a positive experience, which ultimately better socializes her! When I come on my own, they take their time in answering my questions or pointing out sales to take advantage of. The staff strikes a great balance of being welcoming and interactive, without seeming like their goal is to upsell products or begrudgingly go through the motions of asking customers if they're finding everything they need. I most frequently encounter Tia at the cash register, and the tall site manager, who have both become familiar faces. Regardless of the time of day I pop in, I'm impressed by the enthusiasm of every team member! The company culture at this Pet Food Express makes running errands such a pleasant experience, which goes a long way in a part of the Bay Area where positive customer service is harder come by. The system is pretty simple. Line up outside and at 2pm. someone will come out and register you and your pet. At 2:30 is when they start seeing the first person. This Pet Food Express store and Wellness center is absolutely AMAZING! I usually don't write reviews. My puppy had an ear infection and I first drove to the Oakland location but the wait time was about 3 hours. So I left and came to the Alameda location to take a chance. The whole entire staff at the store are super helpful, kind and offered Ritz Carlton level of customer service. They definitely hired the best of best employees. Fabian greeted me as soon I walked in and asked if I needed help with anything. He was super sweet to my puppy and brought some treats for him and then showed me some of theirs best products and promotions for puppy treats. I have to say he's just simply awesome. I was super thirsty after running around for long period of time. I asked the lady at the check register if they sell water in the store and she said unfortunately "no" but she went to the employee break room and brought over a cup of water to me. I hope everyone will get a raise. As for the clinic Dr. Rosette was super professional, friendly, gentle and took great care of my my puppy - thank you doc :) not only the service is excellent even the price is so reasonable. This past Tuesday, Ollie went above and beyond to help me prepare for my new house guest, an amazing rescue named Jennie. I had limited information about Jennie since her human died and she was discovered alone in the home about a month later! I told Ollie ALL about Jennie and asked his help in getting the right flea products, toys and food for this lovely girl who was coming to my home the following morning for ER shelter. Ollie was AMAZING! He was so compassionate and took such care and consideration in helping me make the best decisions for products to get Jennie on the right track. My husband and I brought our dog, Teddy, here for a bath. He usually gives the dog a bath in our tub. Dog is never a happy camper when he gets a bath, so I did not know what to expect. The price was reasonable ($15) compared to what Petco wanted to charge. Once in the pet store, we paid the cashier first and he gave us a token to use in the back area where the six bath stations were located. There were written instructions posted on the wall as to what to do - 3 choices on the bath, rinse and blow dry. These dog bathtubs were easier on my husband's back and knees. No more stiff lower back and achy knees. Tubs were elevated and there were two nozzles - one for washing/rinsing and the other for blow dry (cool air). They also had two short leashes to hook onto the dog's collar. Definitely we will return to give Teddy his baths and also to patronize the business. The layout of the store is organized not cluttered at all. The isles are nice and wide and the staff is always helpful.
