Love this place. You get genuine insight from real people who love dogs. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I have always wanted bunnies, but the people I lived with weren't interested in owning them too…read more Now that I live by myself and have more space, I decided to try at being a bunny parent. I began volunteering with Rabbit ears for about a month to learn about these special critters. I really love the attention that the volunteers and the owner give to the rabbits and the guinea piggies. I felt very welcomed by the other volunteers and learnt so much about these special creatures. I have now adopted two Flemish rabbits from Rabbit Ears and love them very much! Rabbit ears taught me how to interact with my rabbits, what to feed them, and what to not feed them. My buns also came litter box trained, which is a huge benefit! So, if you were interested in owning rabbits or piggies, consider volunteering to learn more and only adopt! To adopt or volunteer, make an appointment before stopping by! Once you get to know the buns and piggies and they come into your life, you will benefit so much like I have. Highly recommend!

Want to start by saying that I'm very glad the east bay has a guinea pig and rabbit rescue-…read moreespecially because typical shelters are so overwhelmed right now, and adoption is far more ethical than pet shop purchases. That said, after being a guinea pig parent for 6+ years, our last piggie passed away peacefully. We wanted to make sure all of her things were donated and went to a few shelters before finding RabbitEars. I want to love them. I do. But the donation process was sad. I came in with multiple bags of clean bedding, fresh bags of hay, treats, cozies, supplies, travel cages, etc. There were multiple staff there and maybe one guest. Staff looked at me and pointed to boxes on the ground. No hello, smile, not even "thanks for coming by" in fact, I left feeling like I had bothered them by simply being there at all. I am not asking for an award or certificate. But I think if someone is coming to your very small niche rescue to make a quality clean donation of any size, the least you could do is say hi or thank you. I'm making another donation, of my beloved piggies clean and cozy blankets. But the donation is for the pigs and rabbits, not the staff. I know working in rescue is stressful, it's not rainbows and butterflies. But a little kindness and compassion goes a long way, especially when someone donating may have just lost their best friend. And that hypothetical kindness could even lead to future monetary donations. Hoping the animals are met with more compassion and love than those who visit the rescue.
