Not like Paco Collars needs another glowing review, but here I am anyway.... I'd lived down the street from Paco before I had a dog, and always used to walk by and think "what the hell kind of store sells JUST dog collars" (and I'm obviously not the only one, since their sign cheekily answered my inner thoughts). Finally, I decided to look on their website to see what they offered, and was blown away by how gorgeous all their offerings were. As much as I'd mentally professed indignation before, after looking, I told myself that once I got a dog, it was going to get a Paco. About a year later, I was in the application process for a dog down at Berkeley Animal Care Services, while Paco had a Labor Day sale going on. I bit the bullet and ordered the collar before I even had the dog home and crossed fingers I wasn't jinxing my adoption. Fast forward to today. Six years later, I and my dog have been across the country and back on hiking, camping, and swimming trips, 3 moves, 3 years of rough and tumble dog daycare, and countless other adventures, all in her Paco. Throughout all this, we consistently get compliments on how beautiful her collar is and how unique/well made it is. Maybe 2 or 3 stones have fallen out (or been pulled out by wrestling dogs playing collar-grab), and each time Paco more than happily repaired it for me. We've never had a bigger repair than that, but I have friends who have and they truly stand by their guarantees without issue. Few things bring me more joy than revisiting a 5-star place four years later and finding that it's still a 5-star place. Paco Collars is that place. Were my dog the type to sport a collar I'd likely spring for one of Paco's. Even then though, I'd be adding a worry to my day: in addition to fearing someone might steal my dog I'd feel added angst worrying that they'd also steal her collar. These gorgeous collars are theft-worthy though I don't endorse such behavior. What brought me back to Paco's was the same thing that brought me there to begin with: a leather belt or rather, 2 leather belts. Four years hence and one belt had lost some of its bling and what remained was destroying the waistband of my jeans. The other belt had a different issue, completely leather-related. Both of these concerns were resolved on the spot, in about 20 minutes for what I found to be a reasonable charge but anyone can do that in theory. It was the way it was done that speaks to the attitude of the place and the service level of its staff. If I look up "best in class service" somewhere I'd expect to see there the woman who helped me on this visit. For a price, Paco's Collars can custom make your dog a collar that will make her the envy of all. They can also make a beautiful belt. Basically, if it's leather and studded, they can make it to your specifications and they'll do so with the most charming of attitudes. It's such a pleasure to handle hand-crafted leatherwork that I'm sorry I can't think of anything else to have the Paco's staff make for me. It's difficult to find parking.The collars are pricey but it's all WORTH IT in the end. These collars are guaranteed for life and they even offer cleaning services to make it look swanky and new after your doggy rolls in the mud and plays at the beach. The collars are sturdy and you an tell that they are handcrafted with pride. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell that they really care about their work and that they treat the collars like an artist would with his masterpiece. The best selling point for me is that they will fix the collar for free if it ever breaks (normal use of course!) and that they will turn the collar into a human bracelet once your doggie goes to heaven (for free!!!). I love how they have so many choices and I especially dig the blingy collars! They will make a collar from scratch if you find one in their stash that is not the right size for your beloved pup. Many moons ago, I lived across the country with a newly-adopted puppy. I stumbled upon Paco Collars and was itching for my boy to be full-grown so I could get him his very own collar; we ordered one online as soon as he was ready. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine we would be able to visit, much less live within driving distance of the actual store. I've spent the last few years telling everyone about Paco -- about their amazing quality and customer service (which I had never even taken advantage of, only heard about, until today). I got into a rhythm pretty quickly, as this collar gets compliments and questions almost daily. "It's Paco, spelled like 'taco' with a 'p'" (can't even tell you how many times I've said this, haha). Great quality leather and studs! The people that work here are true artists that can really help you make up your mind when you're like me & very indecisive. Bringing a friend here helps too! They have many styles to choose from as well as the option to design your own collars. I love the custom tags they can do on the collar. Saves me from hearing clinking noise all around the house when Cali trots around. The tags do take extra time bc they send them to Fetching Tags, so just know if you want them you have to wait a little longer for your spankin new collar. The workers are very nice & accommodating. After we picked up Cali's collar, I wasn't sure if I was completely satisfied with the design without the back D-ring & they were willing to work with me to get it just right. I adopted a dog who had a Paco Collar on him a couple of years ago. Back then, they were really helpful in helping me fix the missing adornments from that collar, so I was already impressed with their quality and service. Fast forward 2.5 years.... I have another 'foster failure' joining our already large four-legged household and decided he need some bling. Off to https://www.pacocollars.com/ I went... I found a beautiful design ("Dude" very appropriate for this big, old goofy dog of mine) and placed an order with a matching leash. They came within about 8 days, and were - seriously - far more beautiful than I had imagined. Perfectly made, beautifully adorned (subtle, but strong), VERY nice and well worth the money. I, unfortunately, failed to realize that the 'antiquing' process that this particular collar went through would make them much darker than expected. So the chocolate brown I ordered, came out looking black. My dog is a chocolate brown Chesapeake Retriever whose name is actually "Chocolate". The collar/leash weren't going to work for him as it didn't look like they were meant for him, if you know what I mean. I contacted Paco's and they - very graciously - offered to remake them in Tan (which comes out Chocolate Brown). I sent the "black" collar and leash back and had the replacements in just over a week. Just as beautifully crafted, and they look like they were made for our guy. So impressed with these folks! Awesome buying experience, and incredibly nice people to work with. Now, I'm going to ask them to make two collars for the smaller ones, with a dual-leash to go with it. Alright, so I was definitely a skeptic. Before I adopted my pup, I had always noticed the storefront on my way to/ from Berkeley Bowl (it's across the street). I kinda scoffed at the idea of a store that specializes in collars for dogs. How does a store sustain itself selling dog collars? Their collars are definitely NOT cheap. After adopting my pup, I repetitively heard about Paco's and their great customer service and quality in collars and leashes. They make the best leather products out there. HANDS DOWN. I finally met Ana @ the PetExpo in LA. Talked to her & Grant for over an hour, and came up with a collar for my little Staffordshire pitty. Not only were they accomadating, but they were very understanding. They knew that they had high quality products, and the correct price. I can't argue with that, and I didn't feel the need to low ball either. You pay for what you get right? Anyway, purchased a collar for my little girl, fully customized. It had came 2 inches longer... but guess what? It fits perfectly now. I am not sure if it's a lucky mistake, but they did e-mail me suggesting that I send it back to get it fixed (just never got to it) but it fits magically now! They really know their product! A few months later, I find myself visiting the shop (from LA) and BAM - 2 hours w/ Grant on a fully customized collar for my other older pit - who likes bling, but not too much. He helped me physically pick out each piece and lay them out on a blank collar so that I could visually see what it would look like. THATS what you call ABOVE & BEYOND SERVICE. There is a reason this place only gets 5 star ratings. The product is amazing! I've wanted one of these since I spotted a great dane sporting one at the WAIH. Well Lucy finally got one as a gift from her favorite uncle! She is looking pretty fine in the "callie" collar. She's turning heads and getting compliments everywhere she goes. Came here to get a dog leash for my son Cody because I heard they had the best leather goods and because my dog deserves only the best :). Their situated in a very rustic building with a lot of products on display to choose from. Right when you get in, you're greeted by the employee who was very knowledgeable at his craft. Although a lot of knowledge was shared regarding the collars and leash, I did feel as if he hovered a little too much. As a full-on jaded consumer, I EXPECT to be disappointed in some (maybe small) way with most purchases. Things don't fit exactly right, the color is slightly off or the quality isn't quite up to expectations. Whatever, nothing is ever perfect. Cool shop with friendly customer service Style/selection is somewhat limited though. Also the price point was pretty high. When we were in Italy this past summer we briefly considered getting a leather collar/leash set for our pup. Now I wish I did because the price here made Italian leather look extremely reasonable. After outfitting my cat with a collar that I sometimes want to borrow I picked up some matching wrist cuffs for myself and am working on furnishing the dogs in my life with Paco collars too. As a former non believer, I never wanted to pay for this expensive collar...but after my first collar, I was hooked. This was back in the day when Paco collars was a one woman shop, and I begged her to create a matching leash, because if you are going to spend good money on a collar, you want a bling bling leash! Through the years the collars have grown more and more awesome. As a leather goods snob, I look at every dog's collar and then always suggest an upgrade to the Paco collar. I searched and searched the Web for a nice collar for my Russell Terrier, Ozzie. Decided on a Paco Collar, the Double Agent with tan leather. Couldn't be happier, the craftsmanship is superior. I love it so much that I've ordered a 2nd collar for Ozzie. This time he wants some jewels so I ordered the Rylie (black) with an added name plate with his name and my phone number. I actually heard about Paco Collars from my next door neighbor. I have been searching for the last year for a high quality collar for my little Shiba Inu. I have been to all of the pet stores in Los Angeles from DTLA to Santa Monica and had not been able to find something unique with the quality to match the price. I ordered the "Over The Shoulder Rover Holder" leash and "The Niz" collar, along with a matching bracelet for myself in tan/brass. I cannot believe the leather and the craftsmanship of the products. The quality and styling exceed anything I have seen in the trendy pet boutiques in LA. The leather reminds me of Mulberry handbags and expensive horse saddles. This is an investment that you will have for years. I loved it so much that I just ordered another set in black/silver! Special Note: The "Over The Shoulder Rover Holder" is wonderful if you have a small/medium dog. I wore it yesterday to walk to Little Tokyo to have my nails done and I was completely hands-free the entire time. A total dream!
