Full disclosure, my review is based on an online purchase, not in-store. WORST comic shopping experience ever. Giving this place 1 star feels too generous. Here's the highlights: Buy 2 get 1 free sale, cart crashed multiple times, charged full amount, lack of customer service, shipped 4 months late. Ordered in July, supposed to ship in August, shipping label printed in October, didn't actually ship until December. Multiple calls unanswered, no call back from voicemails, multiple emails unanswered. They replied to tweets telling me to call, which again, went unanswered. Mid-November I finally get someone on the phone, my order's in the warehouse but hasn't shipped yet, told to check back after Thanksgiving. Tried Facebook Messenger after Thanksgiving, was then again told to check back in a week. Finally get my order in December (again, should've shipped in August). They posted a shipping update video that linked to their Facebook page. That video was 30 minutes of some employee ranting about angry customers requesting chargebacks through PayPal because they didn't receive their orders. Customers have a right to be upset when you take their money, don't ship their order, offer no explanation, compensation, or even an apology. This guy even threatened to ban customers for chargebacks. Based off another reviewer here, I checked them out on the Better Business Bureau, no surprise they also have a 1 star rating there, all having similar poor experiences. read more

Awesome place, from buying online only experience. They always send out comics shipped super nice. I have never had any issues with them. One time an order was delayed and I messaged them on facebook, they took care of it right away and sent it out. They are a small business so they get backed up because their prices are awesome and they have really cool exclusives. Also their app is pretty cool. I wouldn't recommend purchasing from this company online. It's been almost 3 months since they posted $120 worth of comics to me which haven't shown up and they won't follow up on delivery saying its not their responsibility. Now won't respond to messages and won't issue refund so am supposed to just write off the money. Do a Google search of their company name and reviews and you'll see lots of people in the same boat so I'd avoid and buy your comics from somewhere else that respects their customers read more

I pre-ordered online from these guys for a couple of specific exclusive variant covers. I read reviews and was weary... a lot of not so good reviews. I gave it a go anyway. Come day of release date May 8th, I get a text that my shipment was sent. I wake up this morning May 11th, to the most sinister smile from the Batman who laughs. Couldn't be more then happy. Very fast since I'm from NJ and great packaging, tho I wish you used a different type of tape so it doesn't leave that stickiness after wards on the top loaders. Other then that I'm very happy. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I can only state what my dealings with UnknownComics has been - not very favorable! Especially with the Customer Service and their lack of responding to the Better Business Bureau because I had to escalate an issue from March 2022, for a CGC book that was paid for and shipped to their warehouse in December 2022. As it is now almost May 2023, and I still do not have the book. In February 2023, after a few emails, I was informed that they received the book in February 2023 and they were shipping the books out the next day. I still do not have the book. I even wrote them and referenced their earlier email. Still nothing! Mind you, I have purchased well over $1,000 via this company whether through their website or at the Cons. At this time, I will no longer be ordering from their company. I have worked in Customer Service for decades and reading the emails I received from them - they are unprofessional, rude, filled with empty promises, and lies. They longer respond to my emails so I have stopped. Protect yourself and your money, buy with another company that has better reviews and has a high BBB score. It's just bad business to ignore your paying customers and it's another to blatantly lie to them as well. When I asked for refund I was informed that the 10 day had transpired in March 2022. How can you with a straight face list that policy. The book was being shipped in December 2022 and had I known that your company wasn't on the up-and-up I wouldn't have bought the CGC graded book. read more

I had been ordering from them this last year with little to no issues. I had one order where the books were definitely not 9.2 as a couple of books showed multiple instances of spine stress. I shrugged it off, but recently my experience changed. I received 2 $90 comics that had the same issue. I was pretty frustrated. I did want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they truly let me down with their customer service. I contacted them via email about my issue. They had me take pictures of the packaging, packing slip, the box, etc. i ended up taking so many pictures they wouldn't fit in one email. Once they got the "proof" that I wasn't scamming them, they notified me that what I was seeing wasn't true. The customer service rep basically told me that they considered my comics to be within the parameters of what they considered 9.2 or better. I have been collecting since 1992 and know how to roughly grade a raw copy. This was not that. I then asked if I could cancel my other orders, some of which hadn't even shipped to me for over 30 days since they were released or ordered (some were preorders, some were not.) They then proceeded to say no to that request as well. So when I finally did get some of my books, they were sent in a box that looked like it had been kicked around BEFORE they out the comics in it. Half the books were very damaged. I'm waiting on a couple more orders, and I will be done with these Jokers. Wtf is really going on with these people. I LOVE LOVE LOVE David Nakayama, but he's gotta stop doing exclusives for these people. I have spent thousands in a few months and this is how they treat me. Don't fall for their grift. Spend your money literally ANYWHERE else. Might as well just throw it down a well and hope you get a a couple Aquaman comics or a Namor. I will never shop here again. They're probably going to drop kick my pending orders over to me and tell me they're 9.8 or better. I'm so mad at them still and it has been over 4 weeks. Buyer beware. read more

Stay away from Unknown comics. I have spent hundreds of dollars with this company, probably into the 1000s. I spent over 300 dollars on books to be sent to CGC and graded at 9.8. Over a year of getting the run around from them telling me the books were defective and needing to be reprinted/pressed... me asking repeatedly to be refunded and constantly ignored. I finally get the books that Unknown convinced CGC to grade at a 9.8. The books were badly damaged with a lot of spine ticks. The books might grade at a 9.0 if the average consumer sent them to cgc. They are not 9.8 books and I would feel terrible even attempting to resell them as 9.8 books. I even paid shipping to send them back to unknown and requested a refund. Unknown comics ignored my message but then refused the order. Their business ethics are easily the worst I have ever seen in any company I've dealt with. Their customer service is horrendous. Seriously... stay away from this company and give your money to a company that appreciates your business. Also just keep in mind that this business has an F rating with the BBB. read more

Online Purchase: Ordered 5 books, 2 of which were CGC graded, on 8/1/2019. Had to wait months for shipping and that was only after I begged to have the non-graded books delivered to me in hopes I'd get some of them before Christmas. Here I am 6 months later still waiting for the 2 graded books I ordered. I've called them about 5 times now asking when can I expect them but I am constantly met with the same token response that they aren't ready to ship yet. PLEASE do yourself a favor and never buy anything from this abysmal online comic store unless you enjoy waiting half a year for your items all while never having your emails or requests for contact returned. In the 6 months that my order has been outstanding they have not once reached out to me to let me know of my order status, all contacts have been initiated by me. I wish I could vote zero stars because this place needs to be forbidden from selling things to people until they figure out how to run a business properly. read more

This is the worst mail order place for comics. Ordered $300+ worth of comics. They shorted two comics and they want me to take photos of all the comics that I received. Not sure what that will show. Tried to call them and email them again and no response. Horrible service. Do not place order with this place, because they take forever mailing comics and when something is wrong with the order it will be hard as hell to get any customer service. read more

Purchased 14x without asking to return an item...I asked once to get a refund and return their crappy $100 mystery box...their answer was to label me a high risk customer and cancel all my pending orders...ohh and if you voice an opinion or dm them on social media about any negative criticism..they instantly block you...what customer service huh? Ordered online $100+. Preorder dates came, and I got tracking info. Then, I waited and waited.. they never put the books in the mail. I emailed a few weeks later, and same day the package was in the USPS system. No reply, no explanation, so I was just left to wonder what was going on, but I got them. I thought that would be it. But two books were missing. So I email again. No reply, no replacements, no discussion. I'll have to reorder, another $10-12 to ship from somewhere else. Their prices are 50 cents lower than some of the other places I buy, but it's clear those savings are coming at the cost of adequate, or even *any* attempt at, customer service. All the savings are washed out by having to buy replacements for the books that don't arrive! This is a brick and mortar running an online mailorder, I shouldn't have to file a Paypal complaint to get the $6 refund or to get a reship on missing items. What's going on, guys? read more

I have ordered from this company twice. First order was great.books came in near mint altho i did have a spine tic on a virgin book .normal handling . Order was shipand recieved on time. But my second order lord help.called them 6 weeks after last book published on a monday because i didnt get a reply from 3 emails. I was asured they would ship by friday well the following monday a shiping label was created but today is friday and the post office has yet to even recieve my package. 2 months to recieve an order is way to long to wair. Don't buy from these guys online. They'll send you damaged books and won't respond after multiple messages. The fact that they are selling exclusive covers and are not picking out the best copies when they ship is ridiculous. It's not like they sold out of the comics I bought. The listing is still on eBay. People that buy exclusive covers are collectors and want the very best. Receiving two comics with large bends in them is not collector quality. In total I ordered 8 comics from them. Do not order online. "Two day shipping" is a scam. They claim 3-10 business days from times books are ordered is THEIR shipping time, and the shipping option YOU chose is only once it goes to the post office. This is not how shipping works, it is not even close to how it works. They would not offer me a refund on my $20 shipping charge, even though if I would've picked the standard option it would have been free. Even proved proof that it said my order had been shipped. I've ordered a handful of comics from Unknown and every one of them have arrived in immaculate condition, to the point where I wonder if they are pressed before they are sent out. Sometimes the orders do seem like they take a little while to get out but I'm a fairly patient person and it takes me a while to read my books anyway, so I just let them get here when they get here. read more

I was a regular customer for years, buying their exclusive covers. You are fine with ordering from them...until you have a problem. The moment you discover you received books with significant enough flaws to warrant contacting them, that's when the real fun begins. You can send polite emails, with photo proof documenting the damages, but that won't matter because they'll come right back at you with a denial that there's anything wrong with the books you received, and that they're not going to replace or exchange them. They knowingly send out damaged books that clearly fall below 9.2 and will STILL claim they're within limits! No, your cool-headed replies won't work, nor will mentioning your loyal patronage. They'll ignore your pleas and insist there are no problems. They'll even suggest that you try to fix the damages yourself with some heavy weights or an eraser....they'll say just about anything to prevent you from sending those damages back. Darren has mentioned on live video that he doesn't believe the majority of claims are legitimate, as there's just no way his shop sends out books with damage (unbelievable!) These guys make enough profit on their exclusives, but offer little to no customer service when something requires their attention. They just can't be bothered! I see that I'm not the only long standing customer that has had problems with them (see below). Do yourself a favor and stay away before you get bit on the behind by these guys! read more

I have comics on order for about a month. Vendor issues and I asked them just to cancel the books that were not coming and send the rest. I even told them to keep them and send the rest. No response at all, at first they were a good company to do business with then not.. No respect for there customers. read more

By far the WORST customer service I have ever had with any comic store. They take weeks and even months to ship orders out and after several emails and Instagram DMs they never reply back. I have had three bad transactions with them. First time I figured maybe it was just a fluke thing then after the second time I swore to never do business again with them! Unfortunately I am a completionist and they had some issues I needed to get that I couldn't find anywhere else so I reluctantly ordered from them a third time... same result! Weeks later nothing shipped and no replies to emails/messages! Never again, I'll wait as long as I have to to get issues third party via eBay or whatever. Ive been into the physical store for unknown twice now. The first time was decent the second not so much.. Tried to pick up the joker killer smile last year, instead of just being told it wasnt out yet the lady was very rude about it. I dropped 50 bucks on comics right before covid erupted and didnt get my order(even the older books) until half a year later. The older books in my order were unavailable when i finally got my order meaning someone else was able to buy them out from underneath me. Just recently i was hoping to give them the benefit of the doubt by ordering a small order through them. Even though i like intown it took them 5 days after the order was all together just to get the order # 5 more days for me to actually get a notification it was sent out. And then it was 2 days late. Not a very good busy plan. Originally it seemed wonderful and possibly game changing on how to purchase comics. But i am no longer positive that i want to give my business to this company read more

The sent me a cgc that was over a month late and ignored my message to cancel because it was a present for someone and I had to get them something else because it was too late and then when I did get the cgc it was almost completely covered in neuton rings and they ignored my request to return it. It looks like garbage. This is not the first time they took forever with an order. I have tried them a few times. Never again read more
