This was my childhood comic shop and it is just as great as it was 20+ years ago, I hadn't been back in well over a decade so the last time I was home I took a visit and was not disappointed. It is like walking into a time machine back to happier times and you immediately get a nostalgia high. They have a vast amount of old issues and collectables, it is an all around old school comic book shop that hasn't let modern times ruin it. Worth a visit for any comic book fan. read more

I have fond memories of going to this shop when I was younger; however, times have changed. I feel like most of the items in the shop are very overpriced. I was happy when I found a comic I had been looking for in their bins, and when I checked out, the cashier took the book to the back and returned without it saying, " Oh, we already sold this book to someone else, and it comes with a toy. It is a costly book, by the way." I call it bull; I found it in the bins, they didn't have a price on it, and when I brought it up, they knew it was worth something so they most likely repriced it higher than what I would have got it for. This is the best place to find back issues at a great price. I've visited several shops in bigger cities and they don't compare to the selection here. Their comics are well organized and easy to find. Big Apple doesn't have an online presence. You have to come in store to shop. Edd, the owner, is helpful and super knowledgeable. (I don't understand these random reviews about Funko Pop. I even checked BBB and there aren't any complaints associated with this shop.) If you're interesting collecting comics, graphic novels, or the like, I recommend coming to Big Apple in Amarillo, TX. They have thousands of titles and lots to choose from! read more

I have placed 2 orders with Big Apple Collectibles, the 1st order was placed on 07/15/21, the 2nd order was placed on 09/12/21. The 1st order still has not shown up, the original delivery date was set for Oct 2021, it's Jan 2021. The 2nd order was sent in Dec 2021, the original delivery date was Oct 2021. When the 2nd order arrived not only late but incorrect, I've attempted contact with the business multiple times. They initially promised to make it right but then completely stopped replying to my inquiry even after attempting to contact them 2 additional times. It's now been a couple weeks since they've gone silent and I'm having to see if I can go through my bank for a chargeback since they aren't cooperating. read more

WORST ONLINE FUNKO RETAILER EVER I preordered demon slayer, MHA & naruto funko pops nearly TWO YEARS AGO. Not only did they never fulfill my order, but they ignored my emails asking for a refund. There was an initial delay with some of the pops, which I understood (since it was preordered), but then the system said my order was sitting in a warehouse waiting on ONE pop to complete the order so they could ship it out. So instead of sending me what they DID have, they've let my order rot in a warehouse waiting on a pop that I'm CONVINCED will never arrive. Now the pops I PREORDERED are discounted in their store. If I received them now it would be a complete rip off. Why would I pay full price when they aren't even SELLING them full price anymore. I even tried asking them to send everything else (AT THE GOING RATE ... why would I pay more than what they're selling them for now. that's BS) and cancel the one that didn't show but it's been crickets. I order 2 funko pop but never recieved it and recieved a very rude answer when I stated I did not recieve it. Instead of assisting with the issue they just told me its not there problem and I should take it up FedEx. Preordered Funko Pops from them. It was so long I forgot about the preorder. Was able to purchase the "preordered" Funkos from a NON-COLLECTIBLES RETAILER - Barnes and Noble, 3 months before they shipped from Big Apple Comics. Ask about a return or exchange, was told to give them as a gift to someone else, they wont take them back. The purpose of a preorder is to receive the product upon release. If you are not in a position with the company you are selling to get these products at release. Don't offer to preorder them. You're a collectibles retailer who can't get them faster than a book store. Do not recommend. read more

I have been trying to get my order from October. They tell two items are but are holding them the won't split the order because it's not over 200.00. 3 different people have written me back. On said they could do it for more money. Another said there was a way to cancel the two items for store credit and have the other two items shipped. I wrote back for clarification and now "Ian" has written me twice with the same response about "only if it was over 200" and no answer to my questions. I wish I had read all of this before I ordered. If I could give them 0 stars I would!! It has been almost 4 months since I preordered multiple POP's from Big Apple Collectables, and still I have NOTHING to show for the money I spent. I ordered a Disney preorder for Halloween, my boyfriends birthday, and when it NEVER showed up, I realized they pushed the date out by weeks. They don't communicate that the ship date will be pushed back, so any time you want an update on your order, you have to go look at their site. I preordered multiple other items, and NONE of those have arrived either! As others have mentioned they won't refund my money. They offered my a store credit with 25% deducted. Do not buy from this merchant. They are the last to get all pops. I have seen the same pops in local retailers while my order status still have my pops months out with Big Apple. Even when they do receive your order, they will take forever to send it out. I'm currently waiting on an order that's been ready to ship since the 3rd week of November. Another order was ready to ship in January and it's still sitting in their warehouse. I've emailed them 5-7 times and they're customer service is horrible. All they do is tell you to be patient and cite holiday shipping delays despite that fact that it's now March. I have disputed 3 of their orders with my credit card company. They also sent me damaged merchandise and claimed no responsibility when I emailed them. Took 3 weeks to get back to me. I'm so sorry that I ordered hundreds of dollars worth of pre-orders with them. I just experienced the worse situation with Big Apple Collectables. I placed a preorder on October 2nd with a shipment date in December. Now, I didn't see the shipment date at first but I was okay with waiting. When January rolled around I decided to reach out. The "new" owner, Paul, reached out and apologized, stating the shipment would go out soon. When I asked for a more approximate date, Paul replied in a "week or two." I told him if it was going to take longer, I did not want to wait and would rather receive a refund because I see the exact same items on Amazon and in the stores. He told me that the items will ship shortly and he apologized. Now it is February and I still have not received my items. When I reached out, they told me the items could be sent rapidly but I was more concerned that if my items could've been shipped rapidly, why they weren't sent already? I asked for a refund and they told me I would have to pay a 25% cancellation fee. I had to pay a fee for wanting my money back from an order that was placed over 4 months ago. This company over promises to under deliver and I will never order from them again. I advise all to choose a different company to go with! read more

Wanted a Funko Pop back in October 2021. It ended up getting delayed until January 2022 from what was discussed. Ended up getting it as of today. March 19th, 2022. Way, way, way after the day I needed it. Spoke to the company briefly. They were responsive, but lacking in the fundamentals that make a great company succeed. And that's providing the product within a responsible time frame. Not 6 months later. When I ended up getting the same product at a convention luckily the day I wanted it. But, had to spend more. WORST company ever! Don't pre-order or buy from them. I should have checked their reviews before pre-ordering. It takes them forever to get their pre-orders. 1 year and still counting. They wouldn't honor their policies and they change it from time to time. Even if you bought something from them while the policy was still effective they wouldn't honor it. They are a joke, and their rep wouldn't stand by their words. I had proof of the policy sent to me by the Rep Manager and all they can do for you is apologize because it policy changed. It has been more than a year and I patiently waited but up until now NOTHING. They told me I can cancel my pre-order after 1 year of not receiving it and now they took that back and wouldn't honor it. The manager just told me that few months ago and even showed them the proof of our conversation. They even told me they don't ship an incomplete order so they wait for the whole order to be completed before sending it out. But for some reason when I tried to cancel my order since its over a year, they wouldn't and told me that the order will be shipped out. Now I received the email of the shipped items but FOR SOME REASON it is an Incomplete order! They are liars, this company is as bad as I've seen in reviews! Big store, tons of back issues. Has that classic comic shop feel. Some toys but I wouldn't go here for them; mostly Spawn and Crimson figures. Lots of back issues, but a little high in price for me. I picked up a few needed issues but didn't shop too hard due to the mark ups. One deal I found was the bags of full runs or in sequence issues. I grabbed a 13 issue run for $27. Not too bad The store could use some reorganizing, but is generally functional. One quarter is divided with a wall for a gaming room. I only poked my head in, but there was a tv and several tables. And dark. It was very dark in there. The rest of the shop was split by rows of shelves. They had a great cabinet for busts and statues that made a nice display. Current issues were a bit hard to figure out as they were in one of the rows, at and end cap, and along the wall but they had a good selection The owner? Was friendly and asked if I needed anything. When I asked for a specific issue he went back to look up in his inventory if he had it. After he discovered he didn't, he offered to order it for me. Really nice read more

1 star to far to high. Pre ordered a few items in Nov 2020, ship date was January 2021, then February and now March. I can buy these items all day long online, ebay you name it. I emailed customer service they told me it could take over 6 months to get my items. I can cancel with a 25% restocking fee. Think about the 25% restocking fee on an item they do not have and do not know when they will have it. Stay away from this place. read more
