I don't think I had ever been in this location before but when I didn't find what I was looking for…read moreat Family Dollar I thought maybe it was at Dollar General that I had previously bought it. Fortunately this one was right across the street so I decided to go ahead and check it out. It's a pretty full store and like other Dollar Generals, not everything is a dollar. In fact, most of it as more than a dollar. I found what I was looking for and a few other items to boot. The clerk when I was checking out wasn't very friendly. Update: Taking away one star. Later that evening, nearly midnight, I was looking for something in my bag which I hadn't unpacked yet and there were at least three items in the bag that I did not buy, yet there they were and I was charged for them. Two ugly smelling vanilla candles and a gigantic jug of some sort of chemical laden fabric spray. Definitely items I would never have purchased. They must have been laying on the counter waiting for someone else to buy them or perhaps something a person decided against and left on the counter. Either way, it was not my fault. I set my items on the counter under the lit open sign only to have the clerk say "I'll get you over here." Not "I'll ring you up or you can pay here." Just "I'll get you over here." He picked up my items and moved them to the other counter then rang up my items and the ones that weren't mine and I didn't realize they were in my bag. Now I have to drive all the way back over there at cost of gas money which pretty much eliminates my savings by going into a Dollar General Store. I'd be willing to bet if I take them to another Dollar General they would say I had to go back to the one where I bought them. I might try the closest one anyway. This is so irritating. It's bad enough when a store charges you the wrong amount for something or accidentally hit the button twice and charges you double. I've had that happen more than once here in town and other places as well. But to put things in your bag that you didn't even pick out to buy and cause you the time and inconvenience to have to return them is really frustrating. Perhaps they should check their employees to make sure they have an IQ above room temperature before they hire them.

The employees were very friendly both times I was here. I didn't particular need any help finding anything because I know the store fairly well. I thought of something I forgot to look for the first time I came in so and I found myself driving past the store again later in the day I stopped in to check it out. Even though it was reasonably priced it was still more than I wanted to pay knowing that they are cheaper at Ikea and the dollar store when they have them. I ended up finding some cute butterfly stickers instead, lol. So I still left happy.

Speaking of Michael's, that's where I was when I heard of this place. I was looking for a purple fine Sharpie marker which Michael's used to carry, as did Walmart and some of the office supply stores. I had already checked at Walmart with no luck and they no longer sold the separate markers at Michaels either. Fortunately I asked the young man at the cashier counter about it and he suggested I try Mardels next door. I walked in and looked around for a little bit, then asked the clerk if they had a pens and pencils or stationery supplies section. She pointed me to the section with the pens and pencils and lo and behold there were the separate markers on the bottom shelf. I not only found the purple Sharpie I was wanting for $1.69 but also a lavender highlighter which for some reason are getting harder to find, and another purple pen that I really liked, plus a fine black permanent marker by Le Pen that I have bought before, usually at Hobby Lobby, but didn't have with me on my trip. I I spent about $8 and left happy that I had found what I was looking for. Aside from the pens they have tons of books and movies and all kinds of Christian oriented merchandise. The clerk's were very helpful and cheerful. It was a great find.

Not totally their fault since it's been very windy here the last few days but still seems like they'd try to have someone out there sweeping it off to the side or gathering it up so it wouldn't blow back in front. It definitely didn't give a good appearance being so littered with trash that you had to step over and through just to get to the front door. The clearest with clerk was nice enough. I did not find the item I was looking for even though I know I have bought it at Family Dollar in the past but I did pick up four or five other items that I could use. Family Dollar seems to be the only place in town that I've been able to five find the little packets of sugar-free Tang that have 100% of your daily requirement of vitamin C so I always try to pick up a couple of containers when I'm in here. It's the first time I had been to this location but I happen to be in this part of town so I stopped by.

There are always a few customers browsing in the store & they always seemed to be content with what they were looking for. Like any other Hallmark they have great signage displayed so you are able to find the correct cards. The employees are helpful & nice. This Hallmark belongs to the Hallmark Rewards program, which I love their rewards program, it allows you to get points to earn towards $$ off. On the downside there could be difficulties when finding as it shares a lot with other businesses in the area but it doesn't bother me, just walk a little further. Everyone could use a little more exercise in their day.
