He never called. I had to chase him down hours before my appointment, only to be told I'd already signed the paperwork and would owe a no-show fee if I skipped it -- even though he never gave me the price he'd promised. When I pushed back, he raised his voice at me. I caved and took the cash-pay discount just to be done with it.I paid that in full. Weeks later, a surprise $550 bill showed up that no one warned me about. I was so done dealing with this office I just paid it rather than fight it again.The test itself came back completely normal, and no one from the practice ever called to explain the results or discuss next steps -- I had to look them up myself. I initially went to see Dr. Maffei for my semi-annual full-body mole check. I was warmly greeted & seen promptly. Everyone I came into contact with at the practice was very professional & kind. Point #1. Dr. Maffei and I agreed that I had 3 moles that needed to be biopsied. I was very impressed by the fact that she asked me if I would mind if her P.A. did the biopsies. Most doctors I know simply send the P.A. in or TELL you that that P.A. will do the work. Point #2. Her P.A., Hope, did an excellent job and gave clear instructions re: how to properly care for the biopsies. I had an almost immediate reaction to the band-aids they used. This was odd since they used latex-free band-aids. I removed them, but the reaction continued to get worse and worse. Like most people would, I tried several things to see if I could treat the reaction at home. I failed. When I called Dr. Maffei's office to report the problem, they immediately worked me into their schedule. Point #3 Hope saw me again. She was very sympathetic (which I appreciated given the fact that the allergic reaction had spread to areas larger than the size of my hand at all 3 biopsy sites & were quite painful). Point #4 I really appreciated that Hope took the time to talk to me about what was happening, how it came about, what our options were, etc. I much prefer working with medical professionals who treat me as an intelligent adult capable of taking care of myself if given the proper information & instruction. Point #5. My final pleasant surprise was when they told me at check out that I would not be charged for this visit. Point #6. I am grateful to the friend who recommended Dr. Maffei and plan to be a patient of hers for a very long time.
