Being that this place is literally a jog from my house, it is super convenient! While I do consider it a downgrade from Kaiser (since I could also do optometry there), it definitely gets the job done. Before my first time, I called ahead to pick a doctor and give them my insurance info. That was relatively easy... when I went in before my appointment, they gave me this super long survey that I was supposed to fill out. It was so long, that I couldn't even finish before it was time to see the doctor. I haven't seen the survey since... oh well. It just seemed like a lot. The doctor I chose is Dr. Porter, and he's really cool! Usually it's a 15-20 minute in the room after the nurse takes my blood pressure and temperature, but I have always waited about that long... sometimes even longer, so it's something I am used to and have just come to accept as normal. The doc takes time to get to know me, check on how I'm doing, and how those I care about are doing. As for the lab work that comes after, I have had blood work done twice. The first time, the needle HURT LIKE HECK! The second time though, I didn't feel it at all, so that's a good sign. Overall, my experiences here have been positive. When I changed insurance recently, they had no issue changing that for me. I am well-aware that I have never come the office during peak hours, and from how small the waiting room is, I can't imagine what that's like. So far so good, though. My health is in the balance, so if there were any serious issues I would definitely speak up about them.

Even for a MedStar, this location was simply disappointing. The front desk staff came across as…read morerude and inattentive. At one point, I actually had to wait for staff to finish their casual conversation before they continued checking me in. I was shocked by how comfortable they were doing that. It gave me the impression that's just their standard method of operating. What bothered me even more was watching the way they spoke to an elderly woman who was clearly just confused and needed some help. Instead she was met with impatience rather than being understanding. It's hard to understand how people working in healthcare, where you inevitably interact with people who are sick, elderly, uncomfortable, or simply unsure of what they're supposed to do, can respond that way. The entire experience left a poor impression. Having previously received healthcare through Inova, visits like this one really make me miss them. It was bad enough that I'd consider the drive to Inova so that the treatment can be more human.

All was well until I was required to miss a week of scheduled therapy. I lost an Aunt (my mother's sister), on December 28, 2019, and had to travel out of town for the weekend prior to a major Holiday. I notified ATI, in advance of my trip, by train, to take my mother, who is blind, to bury her sister. I advised them I would miss 1 day of therapy and would return the following week for my scheduled appointments. Well low and behold, myself and my mom caught colds while on the 13 hr, each way, freezing train. While I arrived back from my weekend round trip, in time to return to therapy...I was sick and so was my mom. We had colds! I notified ATI of my situation and advised them, I wouldn't be in. I called each day because the person taking my call, insisted on scheduling me for the next day, for each of my M-W-F appointments.....scheduled me first for Tuesday, then Thursday, instead of trusting I might know when I was well enough to return. Mind you, I was sick and caring for my sick mother as well! When I called on Wednesday, I was placed on the phone with Jessica who warned me "I'll give you today", as if that was going to automatically cure my symptoms on demand. I missed the Friday appointment as well and was scheduled me for Saturday (didn't even know they were open on Saturday's), so I returned to ATI, still not feeling well but I felt pressured!!! Unfortunately, life happens! That's when the foolery started. Determined to have me recovered as promised to who knows, the therapy intensified, resulting in pain, mild, but pain again, nonetheless! Jessica has repeatedly called me out for missing a week (as if I had to come in and spread my cold), which sounds accusatory. More than 4 times, she has brought up my missed therapy "well you did miss a week", (actually 3days), as if that is of more significance than my health! Most recently she questioned and commented on my surgeons' treatment plan! The lack of professionalism, on her part, is concerning...therapy takes place in an open, gym environment and to be called out for attendance and have a Surgeon's treatment plan questioned, while others listen, is disrespectful and demeaning! Are attendance and Dr duties new responsibilities for therapists'? I was violated by these most recent encounters. I may need to discontinue my relationship with ATI and go for a more private solution where I am respected and appreciated as a client! Otherwise, the rest of the crew at Largo ATI is fantastic!

I mentioned that I previously left two requests for a return call and no one called. Donna informed me that Nurse Shannon says that she was waiting to talk to Nurse Shaylyn about a document that I requested. In either of my phone calls. I never mentioned why I was requesting a return call because I wanted to report Donna's demeanor. Moments later, I visited the office and requested to speak with Nurse Shannon. I was now told that I needed an appointment to speak with Nurse Shannon and that the next availability was on 11/14/23. I insisted that I would be willing to wait however long it took to speak with Nurse Shannon because this is a time sensitive issue. Donna called the police to tell them that I would not leave. Aww I accepted the 11/14/23 appointment and left the office. I have never been treated this way by a doctor or their staff and I do not appreciate being treated in this manner. I am left with no other option than to leave this review and find another P.C.P.

Upon arrival, it was pretty much empty inside. The waiting room is clean and welcoming. I saw others complain about a receptionist; however, the woman that I encountered was polite and direct. My wait was about 20 minutes before I went back. Once back I saw a nurse immediately and was tested for all the things. About 15 minutes later I saw the NP. She was kind and answered all the questions that I had. I even left out, realized I had a question went back and she still made time for me. My prescriptions were placed and I was able to pick them up within the hour from my local pharmacy. Although, I generally try to avoid urgent cares, I know I'll be in good hands here.

She repeatedly referred us back to the site and kiosk with the most disregard. Not listening to my issue with the site, continuously cut me off and told me to go back on the site. Only after I asked for her name, did she make an attempt to answer. Mind you there were zero other patients to serve in the waiting room. Just my son. As a Practice Manager, I would never hire let alone have a person with such lack of empathy and customer service sit at the front and be the first impression of my business. No one wants to be in urgent care on a Sunday. Have some compassion and at least act like you give a care when patients are standing directly in front of you. I had to ask multiple times what she said since she was talking in her chest. Never looked up. Her phone was more important than taking 2 mins to guide a patient entering your establishment. This place needs to be mindful of who they hire! A co worker came in (Monique). Nadine looked at us and whispered something to her. At that moment, Monique attempted to explain the site and process. I'm guessing she was to assist with customer service recovery. Poor customer service. Disgusted with this interaction. In the back, prompt care and out the door. Fix the front staff immediately if you care to stay in business.
