What I should have said was, " Not one of Universal Technical Institutes 'Directors of Education ' at any of their 19 locations have a college degree in Education. I honestly had a great experience; it was a good feeling to go back to school. I did learn a lot and graduate with high honor. But the school does teach you just enough to get your foot in the door and in the field. You will learn much more once you in a shop and will do real hands-on work. Be honest with potential students. Too many lies. Over over price tuition for what you get. I attended for a couple of months and had to withdraw because none of the equipment used for leaning is functional or is outdated. When I left they sent me a bill for hours I never attended and they even charge me the last day I went to withdraw even though I never attended class that day. The best thing about this school is the transition from only being about cars to being the front lines of tech and even Green energy I did 8 months of Wind Tech and I gotta say the deep dive into tech and physics and engineering was absolutely phenomenal they have the best teachers hands down who only care about there students I was one of the first classes to be in wind now I know that with all my certifications and technical knowledge and experience I have the power to be more then just someone but somebody who can do anything they set their mind to. read more

UTI is an amazing technical school. The instructors and support staff care about every student. It's amazing listening to the instructors and hear about their field experience while relating it to the content they are learning. It's amazing see the twinkle in the eyes of the students when they figure out the "issue" of the car they are working on on the labs on campus. I have seen students who didn't do well in a traditional school setting excel here at UTI. What you put in to your education here is what you will put out. The HVAC program just started brand new. Most of the teachers lack of teaching experience. They might have hands on experience but book skills are terrible making them watch YouTube videos all the time and mostly self taught. I'm very worried about my sons learning there. read more

My son has just started class. They tell you one thing during orientation and another on second day of school. Forcing student to sign for a loan when they clearly stated it would be required 6 months after completion. The financial aid office is a joke, they make students late and teachers give them a Infraction. It's almost as if they want the student to fail so that they can forfeit the financial aid. I am looking into legal recourses. Do not enroll!!!! BUYER BEWARE - VETERANS, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I have never consistently experienced such a lack of respect from the faculty of any organization. I was WRONGFULLY TERMINATED from the diesel program at their Orlando campus for refusing to be the victim of an overly aggressive & extremely disrespectful instructor. This instructor blatantly violated multiple rules within the UTI employee code of conduct. This organization claims to have a zero tolerance policy against this kind of behavior, yet they had an extreme bias in favor of the instructor from the very beginning. This investigation was extremely unfair & despite any form of evidence, they kicked me to the curb. Your education experience here will vary WIDELY from class to class, as each instructor has a different level of compassion. Some of them are good, many of them just simply do not care about teaching. They are just tired mechanics who took a job "teaching" to get out of the Florida heat & into a cushy desk job in an air conditioned building. There is very little accountability within the school's faculty, to the point where the administration will be aware of obvious problems with their employee's, but will refuse to do anything about it. The curriculum is outdated & many of their training aids are over a decade old that have been repainted more times than I have fingers on my hands. It is a "FOR PROFIT" school. So if you don't have much financial backing, your life outside of school will be a struggle. On top of that, this school doesn't believe in full scholarships for independent students who are not in the military. So if you are 25 years or older, come from a poor family, and you're not a veteran, it won't matter how well you do in school. Universal Technical Institute WILL NOT SEE YOU AS A STUDENT OF VALUE! It won't matter how well you do in school, you can have a 4.0 gpa and perfect attendance, it won't matter to them. I've learned more about mechanics from working on the field than coming here. Hello, my son graduated from school everything was great . Until 2 weeks before graduation they say we owe more money. That his loan didn't care over the amount. This is really worried because we signed for hole amount and know they want money to be paid at Rancho cucamonga UTI so I think made mistake somewhere but trying to have us cover it. Not worth the cost, they expect you to do msat program to actually get into a dealership. Price at other places is about a few thousand... not a darn 40k. Learn more at a mechanic shop than here. Here is more about pieces overall of each which is maybe okay but not career ready. Teachers are a hit or miss, some teach and others don't. Rules are hit or miss. Let me start off by saying I am a current student at this school and I wish I threw my 36 grand out of an airplane instead of giving it to this school. First of all their way of "teaching" is absurd. They make you watch videos that are incredibly long, do this online learning and then when you are in school the instructors tell you to do your labs and if you do not know what you are doing they tell you to watch the videos. The rules are ridiculously dumb there, for example, no hats, I wear a hat in my shop every day to protect my hair from getting dirty. The way they do attendance and discipline is out of this world, if you miss a day, even with a doctors note, you are screwed, it brings your average in the class down from a 100 to an 87. DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL THERE IS NOT ONE POSITIVE THING ABOUT IT! read more

I would first like to point out that at one point you were also able to leave a google review but I'm assuming in an attempt to cover any negative feedback they contacted Google about it. Crazy huh? I had to actually scroll to find a yelp review just to leave this one. I'm a veteran would like other veterans to not waste their hard earned gi bill on this as this will not teach you any skills. I also was told I'd have to pay out of pocket on top of my gi bill. I hope y'all respond to this because it's actually gonna be comical to see your response to that. The material is definitely not worth $45,000. Not even in the slightest. I would love for any family wanting to send their child off to receive a secondary education to think twice because you as a consumer who is going to dump loads of money shouldn't be ripped off. Send your kid off to a dealership or small shop as a lube tech/full service shop because they will learn so much more in 6 months than they will in the year to year and a half at this terrible business. That's what it is a business and you are the customer not a student. The instructors are rude as all can be and i think that's because they have higher admins making life harder on them rather than letting them be actual professionals in their field. The instructors want to teach but are held back due to standards from the higher echelon. A good portion of the equipment is non functioning to the point where we have to pretend it works right. Crazy how they make roughly $45k off each student rather that be from grants or straight up out of pocket. Is that money going to someone else? We invest in ourselves or so we think by going to the "accredited university" but they don't invest in us. They are partial to some staff as well. The instructors I've learned the most from are the ones who don't bend over and take it and for them i am grateful for. I'm expecting some sort of backlash from this. If that tells you anything. I can finally write a review. My son has now graduated and I can be honest without fear of the HORRIBLE administration taking it out on him. Good news first. The program was pretty thorough and my son loved his teachers. He went there out of High School and had no real knowledge of mechanics, he learned a lot and is now looking for work. Here's the rest of the story. DO NOT BELIEVE A FREAKING WORD the administration says to you. They make you believe that they are there for all the students needs... I call BULLSHIT. Their goal is to get you enrolled and collect money, whether it's from you or a Federal Aid program (they have this on lock down and know how to get every penny). They will feed you stories, like how they will help your son find suitable housing, a job and so on.. BULLSHIT Their help consists of an out dated printout and that is IT. The administration is rude, arrogant and condescending. When you ask for clarification, they get aggressive and try to scare you into submission. Once they have your money they don't give a hoot about your kids education, living situation or anything else. Be wary of their sales tactics when they try to sell you the school. I promise you, it's all BULL. My son told me how many students start the program and then quit. It's not that it is that hard, it's because they do not screen the students well. They accept everyone and get as much Federal money as they can upfront and then if the student quits, OH WELL, sucks to be them. There are so many that should have never been there in the first place. The administrative departments do not communicate well and everyone has their own idea of what a newly enrolled should be doing, filling out etc. We got caught in so much bullshit in the beginning. Communication is -50 in this school, and if they haven't received the money ASAP they start to threaten you. Anyone considering this college a future option. PLEASE. Rethink this. They take your money no issue.. Some of the teachers care. Several don't and the school could care less. Teachers telling students you tube you'll learn. Teachers telling students. Read you book and look it up. Walk around campus or take a nap in your car. So I paid 34k to read a book you tube how to work in a truck and take a nap in the parking lot. Classes where 12 out of 30 people pass and the school doesn't think that is a teacher issues. ( no my son was not one that failed so I am angry Mom). Oh and the best. ( and they don't tell you when you sign a contract with them.). They can at anytime advise you 3 days before the last class ends they don't have a class for you. ( which yep you guess it. Now you don't graduate on you scheduled graduation date) But here they can offer you this. Re take a class for the heck of it. Change your class hours. So if you go to school in the am and have a night job. You can tell your job 3 days ahead you can no longer work because the school has now changed your hours. Or you take what they call phase break. So postpone your graduation and hope next phase they have a class for you now. This school staff and administrators have one concern. MONEY. Not your education. Please don't make this same mistake I did. Pay the money have your child push through pass every class. And 6 weeks or less get told. Oppps sorry. We aren't sure when you will graduate cause we don't have the availability to provide you the last 2 classes to pass and obtain your degree. Although they have known for over a year what class your enrolled in and what classes you need to perform. PS. Of course they cashed the student loan money send to them 2 weeks ago. This school is a disappointment, they make so many false promises and really only care about the money. They really have no interest in your education at all. I came here for one week and decided to quit because first off it's way too expensive and second they had transferred all their teaching to online videos. Those videos were way too long and time consuming as if the students here don't have jobs to pay the debt this school puts them in. Graduating from this school doesn't even guarantee that you are getting a good job in the field because most places are looking for experienced techs. I personally have worked with UTI grads that start the same as techs that have no school background and the majority of them have about the same skill and knowledge as those that didn't attend any type of school other than what they picked up from work. If you really are passionate about the field my suggestion is to avoid this place at all costs and just find a job in the field as a lube tech and work your way up. A lot of dealers provide paid training so you will gain the knowledge regardless. Invest that hard earned money in your tools and you will be a lot happier. read more

After i got out from the Army i went to UTI to enroll in their diesel program. The most suspicious was that they put a lot of pressure on me to sign my papers and enroll in classes. At the end of the day i decided to go to Arizona State University , and i made the right choice. Just graduated with BS International Trade and Business Data Analytics. The moral of the story is Do not go to UTI and spend your money for a degree that is not worth 35K . By the way i am working in Honeywell right now as Supply Chain making good money. My last course before I graduate I had all A's and B's but my last class all my grades were above 85% and up but my lab grad which was below 70% which was weird because all my group members all had 90% and above i know I missed a few pages on a few labs but teacher failed me because I had 67% for the final lab grade and now I gotta move back all the way to the school rent out a spot for 3 weeks and go to class and retake a class I failed because of 3% lol but if it was about attendance oh best believe they on that smh I loved the school till now completely killed it read more

I was bored and just decided to look up UTi and was floored by all the bad reviews. I personally graduated UTI in 2004. I know a lot can change in 16 years, but I have 0 regrets about moving halfway across the country to attend UTI. This school is just like anything else in life, you get out what you put in. I went to a manufactures program (which no longer is available, Audi) and came out with a job waiting for me after graduation and then applied myself to continue to grow and learn (as a technician, you NEVER stop learning). I have made 6 figures multiple years of my career and have been a shop foreman at 2 separate dealerships. UTI is a private school (aka a business) and as such may have a hard sell attitude. The education you can receive can open doors and give you a base knowledge that far exceeds what you are going to learn from the flat rate tech in the stall next to you. That alone is worth the price of admission and time invested. If you are serious about being a technician, the "learn on the job" route can work, but usually you just end up getting exploited by your "mentor" or employer. A solid education followed up by a manufacture specific program can lead to a great career and financial success. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because of the hard sell tactics to take additional courses not needed (in my case diesel and Ford Fact). I told them I was not interested and stuck to my guns. I tool the base automotive technology courses at Phoenix campus, followed by Audi specific training in Chicago. This place will go above & beyond......for your money. If you are deciding on what to do with your life, don't ever go to a trade school!! They are over priced and it isn't worth it! Go to a community college instead and save yourself some money if your interested in learning the theory. I attended and graduated from this school in 2007. Dealership jobs are not stable and don't pay very well unless your lucky enough to have a nice boss that will put you through training to be certified & knowledgeable. Tuition was $30k and right now I'm barely able to pay off my school loan. I currently work for the U.S Postal Service with great pay & benefits. Do your research before you apply for any school or go for a career. You will save yourself stress, money, & heartache. Parents Beware.... UTI has a good story for why UTI and how easy it is to enroll. NOT!! DO NOT go with their housing. It is a scam. They will tell you the rent is $500.00 per month for a nicely renovated two bedroom apartment for four students. Well, it actually is $750.00 per month per student, which is $3,000 per month total for housing for four students. The apartments are far from campus and double the price of an individual renting these apartments. If you child insists on going to UTI get your own housing, which will be cheaper and closer to the school if you go on your own. Courses are not as hands-on as they profess. Most are not hands on, the classes are typical note taking classes. Most of the students are going to UTI because they do not want a conventional classroom setting. Attended from 2004-2005 and ended up going to the BMW STEP program after graduation. If you know anything about cars, this program will seem like a waste of your time. 90% of the stuff is very basic, save for a couple classes and is almost like Automotive Repair 101. The draw is to get into the one of many manufacturer specific programs(Ford, BMW, Mercedes etc). They make it sound like UTI is the only way you can get into those programs, but it is FALSE. I went to STEP in Orlando, and half of the students there came from community colleges. Save yourself a lot of $ and go to a community college. UTI costs way too much for what it offers. I worked for couple yrs at a famous BMW dealership and left because it wasn't for me, so make sure this is where you want to be. Once you're a tech, its very difficult to move up to any other position outside the service department. I'm not in the automotive industry anymore, but would advise people thinking of going to UTI to reconsider. read more
