It is known for its large Adventist hospital system and its public university campus--Loma Linda University Medical Center, where we came over the weekend of Memorial Day for my partner's son's graduation ceremonies.  That Friday evening, a doctoral hooding ceremony took place, recognizing the achievements of students who have earned a doctorate or final master's degree. It marked the end of doctoral studies and the transition from student to colleague. During the ceremony, each candidate is individually introduced, and their faculty mentor (his father) placed their hood on them in front of the stage. That Sunday, the commencement ceremony was held outside under overcast conditions. Take pride in how far you've come. Have faith in how far you can go. They have an excellent school PTO committee, and support staff. The volunteers and staff are so friendly, it makes it a joy just to volunteer! (I know this because I volunteer from time to time). My husband went to this school when he was a boy, and highly recommended it when we moved to Rancho. The principal is very approachable and sweet. On my very first day, a male student called me a "fat bitch." The overall culture felt entitled and hypocritical--many people here call themselves "Christians," but their behavior doesn't reflect those values. As someone who values faith deeply, I expected more respect and compassion. Instead, I found students who lacked kindness and basic decency. I believe school should be a place where students can freely share their identity and personal beliefs without fear of ridicule. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at Aquinas. I ultimately left and returned to my home public school, and I would never recommend Aquinas to anyone. In my heart, I do believe that sometimes God places people in difficult environments to remind them to lean on Him. Maybe this school is meant for those who don't know Him and need to seek Him out. But for students who already have faith, Aquinas does not provide anything more. A public school or a different private school would be a much better option. Also, I couldn't help but notice they don't have reviews up on Google, which is concerning.
