060/2024 Late post. I had the opportunity to see this college during a senior high school students' field trip ! This is the oldest community college in California established in 1883, serving students from Rancho Cucamonga ,Chino, Chino Hills, Upland , Montclair, Ontario, and Fontana. Oh my goodness I had difficulty walking around the campus because it was stretching across more than 13 acres on its natural terrain in the foothills of northern Rancho Cucamonga. Honestly I had to stay back for awhile cause I couldn't make it on the uphill walk from one building to the other. I really wanted to like Chaffey, but my experience has been extremely disappointing. First of all, the registration system is a nightmare. I had to fight for weeks just to get into required classes, and even then, I ended up on a waitlist that went nowhere. Some of the courses I needed to graduate weren't even offered this semester, and when I asked counselors about it, I got vague answers like "Try again next term" or "Talk to your department." Super unhelpful. Speaking of counseling - good luck getting an appointment. I waited over a month just to talk to someone about my transfer plan, and when I finally did, they gave me incorrect information that could have delay graduation if I hadn't double-checked with another school. Also, the campus itself feels neglected. Outdated buildings, broken elevators, and poorly marked offices made it hard to find anything. Don't expect staff to go out of their way to help you either - I've had more than one employee act annoyed when I asked for help finding a classroom or service. Online classes? A joke. Half of my professors barely use Canvas properly, and some don't even respond to emails. It feels like they just dump assignments and disappear until finals. This school might be "affordable," but honestly, I'd rather pay more for a place that actually supports its students. I know community college isn't supposed to be fancy, but basic organization and communication shouldn't be too much to ask. Would not recommend unless it's your absolute last option. read more

Chaffey Administration is the worst thing about the whole school. The counselors are basically inept & unless you schedule your appointments months in advance you will most likely end up having to meet with a different counselor every time. Counselors have set me on paths that have wasted my time and I have attended classes that I never needed. I've been trying to reach the International Student Center and the Admissions and Records Office, and it's been a nightmare. No one ever answers the phone, and they send me a zoom link to join a virtual appointment--which doesn't work because host has "locked" the meeting. I keep getting the runaround with no clear answers, and after requesting a callback, I never heard back. It's incredibly frustrating, and I'm disappointed with how they handle student services. read more

Honestly, don't waste your time here. There are other GREAT community colleges out there! I should've known to steer away from here when I was first trying to sign up for an online asynchronous class back in Fall 2024. I had a couple questions about a tuition fee waiver that I wanted to clarify as I am already attending another community college and was interested in taking a general ed course req. for their nursing program. However, every time I dialed the phone NO ONE EVER PICKS UP!!!!!!!!! Would call multiple times. Left voicemail messages. Emailed. Did the whole boom and they get back to you when THEY WANT TO!!!! Furthermore, they try to sway you, supposedly making it more "efficient" in using this virtual ConexEd system, in order to place you in line to speak with a representative (whether in that's in the financial aid dept. A&R dept., etc.). And so when you sign up, you receive alerts to your phone letting know you know your place in line HOWEVER, after it's finally your turn, it tells you to start heading to the window to which you are inquiry about. The only problem with this, is that if you are like me and don't live near Chaffey, and select that you wish to have a Zoom meeting, they DON'T SEND YOU THE LINK. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!! School is terrible The Professors are a hit or miss some are good others not so much. Most of them push a left leaning agenda in their class. I can deal with that, However what frustrates me is that they will constantly change your class schedule when you registar. You may sign up for one class only to see that the dates and time have changed or worse, you've been but in a "fast track" course. Title: Extremely Frustrating Experience at Chaffey College I regret to say that my experience with Chaffey College has been an absolute nightmare. From the start, it was clear that this institution lacks organization and fails to provide even the most basic services to its students. I am compelled to share my frustration and disappointment with others who may be considering attending this college. I initially applied to Chaffey College with high hopes of taking college classes to earn credits. I diligently submitted my transcripts from previous schools, including both college and high school records. I even obtained authorization to enter a class ahead of time, only to be given the runaround since August 2023. It is now September, and I still cannot apply for any classes or even join a waitlist. I find it mind-boggling that classes for next year are somehow already full, and the system does not allow enrollment for classes starting in October. This level of disorganization is simply unacceptable. The counseling department at Chaffey College is an absolute joke. It is incredibly frustrating to deal with incompetent individuals who provide no help whatsoever. Trying to get assistance from them feels like jumping through hoops, only to end up going nowhere. On the other hand, the financial aid process was surprisingly quick and straightforward, but that's the only positive aspect I can mention. One of the most frustrating incidents I encountered was when I had a scheduled appointment for mandatory educational planning with a counselor. However, the counselor never bothered to call me or keep the appointment. When I called to inquire about the situation, I was informed that the appointment had been canceled, even though I never received any notification. They rescheduled me with someone who seemed disinterested and simply enrolled me in every heavy-loaded class for a single semester. This lack of professionalism is beyond disappointing. Overall, my experience with Chaffey College has been an absolute pain in the butt. The lack of organization, poor communication, and the sheer incompetence of the counseling, admission and gps department have made this institution a complete failure. I would strongly advise anyone considering attending Chaffey College to think twice and explore other options. This college has wasted my time and caused me unnecessary frustration, and I sincerely hope no one else has to endure such an experience. This is my first ever review which tells you how much of a frustration it has been to be in this school. Some great classes, I can tell teachers do not grade everything. Teachers won't give you enough information on the syllabus, will refuse accommodation, won't grade with proper feedback. Won't give you direct guidance on what they will grade regardless of grading syllabus. EOPS is a slippery slope and the staff has a tendency to contradict EOPS rules... Safer than most community colleges with police on campus. Student affairs' directors will return any complaint from you back to faculty, but will report any complaint on you to dean. Time to drop without a W is not long enough compared to the time it takes to understand a teachers grading rhythm aside from what was said on the syllabus, get to know the teacher aside from what was said on the syllabus or get to the other half of the class; when they decide to give twice the homework as the course gets tougher, even though they "explained everything in the syllabus".... There are some nice teachers at this facility, I didn't realize that there is a unit limit before you even reach an associate for transfer. I highly recommend you look at rate my professors before signing up for any class. I have met hard working people in real life and seen successful individuals on LinkedIn that have been at this college for extended period of time, well past 2 years, likely hitting 3-4 years, which is very unfortunate. I am also going hit my fourth year at Chaffey and when I look back at my classes in my timeline and see classes that I failed and had to retake to obtain a good grade, it really is sad. I have also submitted petition requests for classes I took while looking after a loved one that has now passed, that I have not been received and excuse for from the Admissions & Records Director Alsiha Serrano. read more

It's been awhile, but I'll never forget the horrible experience my daughter and I had at Chaffey. We just wanted some information on where to start. Because my daughter was shy, I was asking a few questions. The counselor ask me if she was "Retarded or SOMETHING!?" I was so shocked. My daughter graduated with her class, was never in special classes, or held back. She worked as a full time security guard, and was a recent high school graduate. I am so exhausted and feel so sorry for my boyfriend who is currently enrolled in online classes. His BUSTEC instructor, Darrelle Thompson, is the most evil and condescending joke of a professor i have ever seen. She had failed him last because she can't seem to get it together enough to use a program that allows a student with a macbook to do the assignment. He has sent her email after email after email and she only responds in ways like "i can go on and on about being prepared but that won't help you now." she had instructed him to get a loaner chromebook from the school and use that to complete his assignments and so he did. but guess what! the files wouldn't open on there either. so he is essentially going to fail for a second time because she's unhelpful and disrespectful. these professors are so lazy and are so deeply unhappy with themselves and their lives so they take it out on students. it's a joke. With all this going on ^^^ my boyfriend had attempted to make an appointment with a counselor in order to seek help in this situation but the button for Academic and Career Counseling on the website doesn't even work. Even when he tried to book an appointment with the business counselor, the buttons to schedule an appointment were inactive so he was not even able to schedule an appointment. Now because these incompetent professors are failing him because he can't complete the assignments, he is going to have to pay back his FAFSA money and that is not something a working student with bills can afford right now. these professors need to get over themselves and understand that they are literal professors at a CC. Such a disappointment. I highly suggest you attend a different school. Had a situation occur with the school, and the committee for appeals had denied my appeal. I had doctors notes and everything! The committee denied me stating that PPD is not an excuse. Pretty much said that Post partum depression is not a serious illness. And this is a school known for their nursing courses? Tried to get in contact with dean but the committee of appeals never bothered to reply. Thankfully Norco Community College took me under their wing and take PPD VERY seriously. read more

the financial aid department holds back your aid if they don't believe you are you, and after you verified it'll take months before the director takes the 5 seconds to look over your information to simply give you your federally accepted money. Chaffey College is a great way for your student to prepare for college to transfer to another institution; however, utilizing this school as a transfer student and post-baccalaureate has been nothing, but trouble. I have had several run-ins trying to enroll in courses only for my enrollment not to be allowed due to pre-requisites. The submission of my transcripts, which had been done the previous semester, did not lead to them getting fully processed. Instead, I had to ask *further* for my transcripts to be evaluated only to find out that one of my transcripts had not been received. I re-submitted and immediately asked for them to be evaluated so I could at least enroll in a late start course only to be told I needed to take at least 3 more courses to enroll in a *single course* needed to enroll in a *separate course* I needed for the next semester despite the fact that I received communication the *single course* pre-requisite had been met. In short, I felt unheard as a student and this blunder has severely set back my educational journey as I prepare for graduate school. Their set line of education is only helpful for students just entering the fray, and unless their specific course descriptions are met by specificity listed in other institutions' course descriptions, the student will be out of luck and forced into extending their educational journey. Their counselors are fantastic, however, and I have appreciated my interactions with them despite how limited their reach is. read more

The art program at Chaffey College is absolutely horrendous! Pretty much every art class that I took was structured the same: Instructor hands you a project sheet, tells you that you have 4-5 weeks to work on project, and all you do, every class day, is work on that project by yourself... No teaching you specific techniques, or how to use graphics software. No teaching you how to develop your skills or style. Nope. Just working on projects by yourself. It doesn't even matter if you don't show up to class. I took an illustration class, and the instructor wouldn't even let her students use updated techniques. We were only allowed to use gouache watercolor paint, on EVERYTHING. That mess gets so ugly and chalky. I had a web design class where the instructor just gave everyone a thick instructional packet, then told us that we had 5 weeks to create a website. He didn't teach us anything, and didn't even show us how to use the software. I had no clue what I was doing, and when I asked him for help, he would tell me to ask one of my peers, while he sat his big butt in the corner and ate cheetos. 99% of the art instructors at Chaffey were like this! Lazy and clueless! Then there was Misty... Oh god, what a pretentious, annoying hack! She was a total stereotypical art snob, yet never EVER bothered to show us her own work. Made us watch TED talks, and did the same thing as all of the other instructors. Give you a project, then say you had 5 weeks to work on it. Oh yes, and Misty is the director of the art department, which explains a lot. The only good and helpful art class that I ever took at Chaffey was the figure drawing class. The instructor, Pam, was awesome and actually cared and WANTED you to develop your skills and style. That's the only art class worth taking at Chaffey, Figure Drawing with Pam Valfer! read more

The school handles sexual harassment claims by females students very poorly! Also they do not know how to treat staff that has been there for years with respect and make attempts to devalue them, especially if they are a minority or a female. I would recommend another school. Please note I was very involved as a student as I served as student government and helped student organizations and clubs. I graduated from Chaffey almost two years ago. Coming here was one of the Best decisions I could have made for myself and my family. Since I started attending there was so much help and a lot of resources available for me to succeed. I was in the EOPS program and had the Best counselor Ms. Myra who was absolutely amazing. I got help with purchasing my books, and all the counselors I encountered were very helpful. I ended up getting into the RN program and although it was a very tough program they prepared me. They're not an easy program by any means, but with the medical field being what it is; this is exactly what students need to prepare for working on the busy hospital floors. I've been an RN for almost two years now and I'm so grateful I chose the community college route. I paid $5,000 for the program compared to a lot of my coworkers who paid $70,000 plus at expensive private schools. I'm currently getting my BSN-MSN and even that is only a fraction of the cost compared to a BSN at the private schools I previously mentioned. Get yourself a good counselor, follow your educational plan that they give you and study hard! Utilize the success centers and apply for scholarships whenever available! Graduating from Chaffey was the end of an era for me and I'm forever grateful for the education I received here. read more

This review is directed to the the financial aid department. They don't seem to know what they are doing in there. One girl tells you one thing and someone else tells you something else. They never return calls and when I say never I mean NEVER!!! In 2 weeks I left 9 voice messages and didn't get a return call. I also called her counselor twice and she didn't return my call either. So of course you have to physically walk into the office to figure out what is going on and since they don't give you the right information the first time you have to keep going back to the office. They were holding up my daughters financial aid. I called FAFSA and they said no she is eligible its up to the school to release funds well guess what oops they CHAFFEY FINANCIAL AID DEPT. forgot to process information on their part. I went here for a year and I cannot handle this school anymore, I am transferring to a different school and i suggest you do the same. My main problem is with administration. First of all, you can't speak with a counselor until youve completed a certain amount of units. I am one unit shy and they refuse to make an appointment for me...WHAT? I've been paying money and attending classes for a year and I can't talk to a counselor? What kind of nonsense is that? Secondly, it really seems like the financial aid advisors do not want to help you get financial aid. I've called multiple times to make an appointment and every time "they are experiencing a high number of callers" and to leave a message. I've literally left more than 20 messages and I never received a call back. I would just walk into the office, however I live 40 mins away from the school and I have a tight schedule, I do not have time to sit around for an undetermined amount of time to see a counselor. Also, with financial aid, they still state that I am a dependent student - even though I'm 24, I have a baby, and I haven't lived with my parents in YEARS. Aparently, I still don't qualify for financial aid. They are very unwilling to understand my circumstances and work with me. Third, some professors are extremely lazy and they can get away with it. With half the professors I had, our class time would be spent watching YOUTUBE VIDEOS the entire session. I'm paying for an education to watch YouTube? This has happened with more than 3 professors. Parking sucks and the bathrooms are absolutely filthy. I wish I didn't waste a year here. I am going to a different school. read more

There cannot exist a better college than Chaffey College. This place is the pinnacle of what a community college experience should be like (from a student's perspective). Great profs, great courses and great resources (the Chaffey College online library is the best thing ever). Even parking is not a big issue. BUT I ended up driving to the school to speak to someone in person because it's way better. I am never happy with the staff they honestly are rude, but I still wanted to go and put my foot down after months of trying to reach to someone and get answers for my financial aid and so on. The two people in the main building Aisha from financial aid and Micah from the Admissions and records were the best. They talk to you nice, walk you through the problems, and make solutions. I graduated twenty years ago ... I'm just trying to get my transcripts. I moved out of state, so I can't just go pick them up. I started this process nearly two months ago ... The first time, I waited two and a half weeks before calling them to ask why I still hadn't received them. Their response? "We must've put the wrong address, so they got sent back to us." And you didn't think to call me and let me know? Or to check the address I had TYPED out online for you? So they sent them to me again. The second time, I waited a week and a half before calling. Their response this time? "Well it hasn't truly been that long. You called on Thursday (I called on Wednesday) do they didn't get mailed out until Friday, which means they didn't get picked up until Monday, so it has only been five days." My father lives around the corner from the school, and I get my mail from him within three days! So I waited until Monday ... still nothing ... if nothing comes today, I'll be calling the school to complain, and I'll send my father in to retrieve them, since he is obviously more competent. read more

Makes no sense to me as there's 10-30 students per class to every 1 teacher. I am a current student at Chaffey and i love it here but that doesn't mean that there aren't cons and pros!! PROS Financial aid: You get what you need and then some. Fee waiver pays for your classes and part of your parking fee!! woop woop..the money you have in your card, you can use at your discretion..but don't go crazy and use the card to buy clothes..get the cash, JK Priority Registration: If you have a lot of units, do sports, a veteran or have a disability, you can get the classes you want. If you don't have a disability or are not a veteran or don't play a sport, then take a class like psych 25, history 1 or sociology 10 or 16 they are easy to get into especially if they fall on a weekend: Friday or Saturday. Also, classes are easier to get into in the summer. Food Pantry: They give out FREE FOOD multiple times a semester..Whet! As long as your balance is ZERO. Very helpful for people who are in need. It's not embarrassing or anything so don't feel self conscious. ED Plans: You meet a counselor and make a plan that lets you know what classes to take towards your major so you're not like a headless chicken with no sense of direction. Transportation: You ride for free in any Omnitrans as long as you have your Chaffey ID CONS Zero Park Thirty: Parking is a biyotch. Show up as early as 7:00 am especially during the first 4 weeks of the semester. Everyone is trying to get into a class and as a result, there's overcrowding. Don't even bother searching for parking at like 9am-2pm Hard to get classes-you want: If it's your first semester, don't even bother trying to get into math, science or english..everyone needs that!! Financial Aid: They give you less if you have a job. Even if you have a rubbish job and you have to pay lots of bills with the rubbish pay, financial aid people aren't considerate. Getting a job is one thing but being able to pay your bills is another. If you have family that is willing to let you crash in their house rent free, then you're good otherwise, you're screwed. Counseling: You go to get an appointment and have to wait a week to see a counselor! Whet!! Yes it gives you time to think but 7 whole days will drive you crazy Expensive Food: A burger for $5! what's it made out of? Donald trump's azz? DO: Get into easy classes and ace them. Watch your priority go up..plus, getting a head start does wonders for your GPA. If you start off with a 4.0, it only gets better. Go to rate my professor to get an idea of what you're in for. I would suggest not to take some of the reviews too seriously. Some of these reviewers are cry babies who don't have a concept of how real life works. No your professor won't be kind when you show up late. No your professor's job isn't to make your life as painless as possible. it's your job to study the content. You can print 10 free pages at the ATL lab---if you eventually find the darn building. Get the school map from the ADMIN building. Wanna get a job in the ATL building? sit around and sign people in for minimum wage, (as opposed to flipping burgers for minimum wage) you need to take CIS 1..it's a computer class where you learn microsoft office. Nice for your resume plus you can get a job in school. DON'T: Don't buy their expensive food. I've had it and it's not great. Their Starbucks didn't even take a Starbucks gift card. There's a jack in the box, Del Taco, Mcdonalds and more. It's like a 5 minute drive so make friends and carpool if you don't have a car. read more
