Every year, Mt. Sac hosts a huge Cross County Invitational meet. This year, I was a spectator while my son participated. The meet is touted as 'the world's largest cross country invitational' I hate to admit this but based on the website, I thought it was going to be a complete madhouse but it was so well organized! There is a parking fee (paid on site and in cash) and a per person spectator fee (which you can pay online or in person). My review is two fold- a spectators view and a runners view: Spectator: You're in a huge stadium, and while you can only see the jumbotron, you're basically getting a birdeye view of the race because there are drones and cameras on the course. The sports announcer gives everyone in the arena a play by play so you aren't missing a thing. Runner: My son said the course was nice- a combination of asphalt and trail running. There was plenty of merch available and it wasn't too overpriced. The t-shirts are nice quality. Overall, this is one of the most organized invitationals I've been to. Well done! read more

I was a student of Mt. San Antonio College (SAC) located in the City of Walnut many many blue moons ago. I attended it right after high school to complete my General Education (GE) courses. I remember it being a very good community college. Teachers were fantastic. Parking is ample. There is a nice plaza across the street from this college. Most recently, I was at the Mid Autumn Festival held at the parking lot of Mt. SAC. It was a really fun and interesting event. Thanks Mt. SAC for hosting the event. I didn't get a chance to walk on the grounds of the college so not sure how much it may have changed... probably not too much... maybe just added buildings. I am sure some things have changed over the course of 30+ years. But it was nice to reminisce the good old days in my thoughts. Thank you! read more

My son's first day, he is excited, I'm a little nervous it has been 20 years since my husband and I both graduated from university. Now, there are so many different apps which are so helpful, but process is different of course, overwhelming. However, we are very thankful for the help counselor Hernandez L. and Heather P. From Tech Center offered us. They both have been so helpful and answered all of our questions. We truly had a great experience! They are beautiful people inside and out. BUT, I am only giving Mt. Sac 4 stars, only because we did encountered someone being insensitive to my son. He was a student worker from the information desk. He was very rude to my son, instead of helping and making him at ease, he laughed at my son who was asking for help, not knowing that I was just a few steps away. I brought it up to school of Dean right and then, they did say he would be talked to, I suggested a sensitivity class and I want to believe they will handle it. But as stated before working with Ms. Hernandez and Heather P. Is the only reason why I'm giving MT. Sac 4 stars. read more

I spent all of my year at this college being bully daily by Ms. Candace Lynn Leuthold. If you notice students who start to act abnormal or change in behavior please talk to them, the bullying and emotional abuse from Ms. Leuthold is severe. She will begin smear campaigns against the student she is actively bullying and having other teachers bully students by proxy by promoting exclusion and isolation from others. Students began to worry for my safety in the school as well as my own concerns. a bully has no remorse, no age group, and it will only intensify as well as escalate. I am rating this school based on the allowed discrimination that goes on between staff, professors, and other academics. You have to learn to recognize that there's also institutionalized discrimination (not just the discrimination people know exists). I've been discriminated based on my background on what professors played as a joke: Everything from age, my name, and even stereotyped. What they didn't know was that I have plenty of experience working with school, college and high school districts so I am quite familiar with what Title 9 (IX) is and the rights of students, workers, and staff. When I pointed this out to this particular professor, the shock on their faces and the silence in the room. Yeah, picked the wrong one, didn't ya? Feminism? How is this not gender/male discrimination again? Women's rights? Equality?! I've taken enough professors that some strongly voiced how they hated men and the so-called patriarchy?! Wow! A mental case much? I have nothing to do with your woes or whatever injustices you feel entitled to discriminate me based on my appearance or genitalia, so go take your battles and opinions elsewhere or keep them at home! Another one was socioeconomic status. One professor thought it was a good idea to indirectly tell a student that they are dumb or too broke to buy and own the software needed to pass a class. And then you have the professors who play with favorites...ooof dangerous game right there! Academics and the school live in their world thinking they are free from consequence just because they are (insert job title or role here). I am here to change that today in hopes that everyone holds this school and bad actors accountable. If you're a student that's been discriminated against by age, race, religion, sex, disability, socioeconomic status, or even limited language proficiency, DO NOT! I REPEAT!! DO NOT file a complaint with the school. This includes MT SAC's Human Resources, Student Life, and Administration because they are there to protect the school and reputation, NOT YOU! Allowed. Even students are allowed to come in with the smell of weed or marijuana. This college offers Weed/Marijuana program. Thank god you look like a good students. Why is it that there are always a bunch of empty staff parking spots, while us students have to circle the lots MULTIPLE times to find a spot, sometimes not even being able to find one. I had to miss my first day of class today because of this bullshit. I must have circled the entire A and H lots over 10 times, not once finding a spot. People have been complaining about this for YEARS. Staff do not need nearly as much parking as they are given. Us students need it. Do better. read more

Our first time on this campus was to attend a state cross country event. High schools, mostly from all over California, were there that weekend. It's considered the largest annual cross country venue in the world! While it managed to crowd control well by spreading the heats over the weekend, they overlooked the most obvious part of their campus for spectators to enjoy the running: use of the empty track and seating area. Come on! Parking cost was $10 in the lot but if you go on the weekend, street parking is cheaper - even meter parking will be less costly. read more

As a student transferring from RCC to MT SAC I'm sadden how horrible the financial aid office is here to it's students Wendy is who I talked with today and cut me off multiple times when trying to speak. Her attitude is not pleasant and she should not be working for a school when she clearly can't even talk to students without being rude or even letting them speak. I talked to multiple people prior about how I am Coming from RCC and not one told me I had to file paperwork in order to stop the payment from there since I'm only taking one class. She couldn't even help me locate the paperwork just told me to find it on the RCC website. I will writing hiring ups in MT Sac to see what can be done about hiring staff that's capable of being somewhat informative to its students. read more

They try to make this a great place for all students to learn but there are serious problems with their online presence and wifi on campus.

I've had the best professors here. They really care about you succeeding. They also help you when you need it. They go above and beyond for everyone. They want to see you succeed. I like that they offer online courses especially with covid. I even took a beverage class and got to try different wines. I loved the nutrition classes with the labs Jean Metter is an excellet teacher. Sylvia is great too. During covid they were giving emergency grants to students which helped me pay my rent. This is literally the worst college ever. They change their phone and Zoom Call availability without emailing students, so I was on the phone waiting for a counselor to pick up on a Friday (their website says M-F) but they had changed it to M-TH without any warnings or emails, what a waste of time. I'm giving it 2 stars because some of the teachers are okay, but one counselor recommended I take a class (I'm almost graduating by now), in comes registration day and that class doesn't exist, like??? I'M TRYING TO GRADUATE!! why tell me to take some made up class and stress me out like that?? They are never available for emails either. If you email them they will send an automated email back asking you to call them, like THAT'S WHY I'M EMAILING YOU, because there are no phone calls available!! I would recommend you never step foot on this campus so you can be a healthier and happier person because God knows I've never been so stressed and unbelievably unhappy before being at Mt. Sac. i took a few classes here back in 2006. pretty decent school teachers were really nice and students were mature (it is college afterall). parking is convenient i bought a parking permit so i didnt have to pay for parking every couple of minutes. im a firm believer in you dont need to attend a prestigious college like ucla usc or harvard to get a decent college education (if you could afford it and get accepted good for you) but not everybody could afford it much less get into one (im talking about myself) so im glad mt. sac exists even adult school is a good alternative because at the end of the day, our goal is all the same (learn a skill to survive in society) just a different way of doing things. do what works for you. Purchase used books at the used book store across the street. Great instructors that really help you achieve your goals here. Libraries are nice and clean. The lack of effort and energy from Admissions, the Cashiers Office, and the laundry list of Deans makes this college feel like the DMV / Postal Service of colleges. They delayed responding to my claims for a refund until, by their policy, it was "too late" to file a claim. I give it 2 stars because most people don't read 1 star reviews, this would normally be a 1 star review. I have been attending college for a majority of 25 years now. I have an MBA, BA, AS, AA, a certificate and many years of finding my direction. I would have to say that out of the 9 schools I have attended this is by far the worst school I have had the opportunity to attend. Some reasons: 1. One class required all assignments be completed or you fail. Meaning out of 1000 points if you missed a 5 point assignment you would fail. Tell me if that makes sense? 2. A teacher that I had spent most of the class discrediting a market society but did not give solutions to rectify the problem. This same teacher would make general negative comments about other majors creating a sense of maliciousness about those subjects. Creating an uncomfortable environment for everyone not his major. This same teacher would use foul language in almost ever sentence that came out of his mouth. This teacher also talked about how his videos of his teaching should be monetized by YouTube and focused on this extensively for a few weeks of the first part of class. 3. Another teacher that I had would inject her political ideas at random times. Like during a DNA lecture she decided that this would be a good time to express her opinion about Georgia's Election Reform laws. The two have nothing to do with each other. This same teacher divulged that Mt. SAC Ed code falls under k-12 standards. How is this conducive to preparing students for a higher education? 4. Lastly my current teacher made comments about dropping me after I told her that I am a Veteran using my benefits. After, I kindly and I do mean kindly, gave her my thoughts on her discrimination. She filled a complaint of harassment to the disciplinary board against me. She never disclosed her discontent with my words at her but went straight to filing an unsupported complaint. If you value your health as others have said, stay away from this college as stress from learning could be very prevalent. read more

The Admin in So So its such a big school much smaller now than 20 years ago but still a big school and some of the administration seem to have a chip on their shoulders about treating everyone like a number. The Worst part is that now after all the other Colleges in the state are lifting their masking regulations Mt SAC teachers union has dug in and is requiring students in classrooms and teachers to remain masked up. So if you can choose a different school choose one of the other local schools that do not require the masking after the Country, State and County has dropped the Mandate. Its absolute comedy you go into any admin building and nobody is wearing a mask but if you want to use the makers space on campus or go to a class you must wear a mask. I attend 4 community colleges and this is the absolute worst offender of the bizarre masking requirements. read more

Pros and Cons list INCOMING: Pros: 1. The BEST teachers and people I have ever met, seriously I cannot say enough about the amazing teachers and students! 2. Beautiful campus this place is always under construction but the buildings they add are top notch. 3. Great Counceling, counselors are great for students with no knowledge or expectations for jr. college. 4. Library, this place is a great safe haven for a good quiet study session, librarians are awesome and will help you with anything you need! 5. ACCESS is wonderful to students with disabilities. 6. Medical staff is very helpful. Cons: 1. Locker rooms are TOXIC, seriously I feel bad for the athletes at this school because I have seen human poop on the floor more than once in these locker rooms, mixed with black mold in the showers. 2. Counselors are very hard to get an appointment with. 3. Student stores are a rip off and don't offer enough healthy choices. 4. Parking is a nightmare. 5. Website crashes constantly usually when people are registering for classes, which is when I need the website to work. read more

Students from top colleges would tell me that my teachers had taught just as well if not better than teachers at universities. I did my lower division here and it was great. So many programs and centers to help you succeed in college. No wonder it is one of the best CC in California, I'm glad to have went here. I am a computer science major. Classes are hard for a reason and teachers don't just give out A's here. Do the work and succeed. Financial Aid, tutoring centers, library, teachers were amazing. Update Feb 2020: This year is super awesome at Mt. Sac. The treatment and services they gave to the student really improves. My registration for spring 2020 is flawless. The persons that assist me in the Admin office and in the Library was so helpful. I attended 2 of the school event this week and it was phenomenal. I feel like Mt. Sac step it up this year. 2019: I don't usually give an update, follow up review and a 3 stars but I will make an exemption today. After all the adjustments and DIY FAFSA application, some of my student benefits had been activated. Also, I starting to really like the people here at the library. Our library resource center really help me a lot in this semester. Some employee are still acting like they own the school and benefits are from their pockets, but I saw some now that are really sincere in helping the students. read more

To start, this schools staff is not helpful in any way. I have paid extra funds on numerous occasions with little to no administrative assistance. The parking situation is TERRIBLE. You have to show up an hour early just to get a parking spot if you don't want to walk a block or two And i have had multiple discourteous and completely impolite professors.
