Yelp unjustifiably and unreasonably deleted a bad review on this school, which is based on my firsthand experience.

No playground equipment. There was a former student that collected pieces of female hair. Needs more plants. Obese staff. Not good.

This is the best high school to attend, and it provides all the educational needs. They have the highly educated teachers and admins.

My experience at this school was close to terrible. The administration/ office people are super…read moreunsupportive. I remember telling the school COUNSELOR that I was getting bullied. Her response is forever imprinted in my memory. She told me I was overreacting. What kind of adult has that type of reaction to a CHILD telling them that they were getting mistreated. On top of that, they are quick to point fingers, accuse students for being "bad", and not look into the students' situation at home. I was going through the roughest period of my life and they made it a thousand times worse. I hope no child has to go through that. Miramontes, Villa, Canales, and Schreiber. I hope you guys do the world a favor and retire.

Be prepared if you send your child to Alvarado. It's not all bad. The administration tries, but…read morethere's just too many students and not enough support. This school can get pretty scary and unsafe. Dropping off in the morning is a nightmare. Leave early and be prepared to wait. Major traffic and unsafe driving. Daily fights occur between both boys and girls. Smoking, vaping, alcohol and drugs are a common place at Alvarado Intermediate School. Not much justice for the victims. No substantial consequences for the criminals. Bullying is a part of the culture. Rarely do the offenders receive more than a, "talking to" for their offences. Pay the money and go to a private school or opt to Ybarra or Oswalt. You won't regret it.

We're currently enrolled in the 2026 summer camp program, and I wanted to take a moment to share…read morehow wonderful our experience has been -- especially with Ms. Esther. My child absolutely lights up when talking about her. Esther has been incredibly patient, warm, and attentive with the kids. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does and truly cares about each child in her class. She takes the time to connect with them individually, listens to them, and creates an environment where they feel safe, seen, and excited to learn. As a parent, it means so much to know your child is in the hands of someone so kind and dedicated. Esther has that rare combination of structure and warmth that makes children thrive. My son has grown in confidence and enthusiasm since being in her care, and I couldn't be more grateful. Thank you, Ms. Esther, for everything you do. Teachers like you make all the difference, and we feel lucky to have you as part of our summer camp experience.

My daughter attended this preschool for one year in the preschool program. Her classroom teacher…read morewas wonderful, caring, and one of the few positives about our experience. Unfortunately, our overall impression of the school and several other staff members was disappointing. One experience that really stood out involved a teacher named Esther, who teaches the 4-5-year-old class. While she may appear friendly at first, our experience with her was very different. One morning, my wife was holding the security gate open for an elderly grandfather who was walking into the preschool. Instead of appreciating the situation, Esther immediately yelled at my wife to close the gate and began lecturing her. Even after my wife explained that she was simply helping an elderly person enter safely, Esther continued to scold her and insisted that the grandfather could open the gate himself. We found her response unnecessarily harsh and lacking basic compassion and professionalism. Another concern was the school's annual Jogathon fundraiser. Families are encouraged to donate money, and children who participate receive a special T-shirt. Staff members then visit the classrooms to celebrate with those children by handing out small toys and snacks. We chose not to participate because we already pay significant tuition and did not feel obligated to make an additional donation. Later, the school sent parents a video of the celebration. Watching it was heartbreaking. My daughter was one of the children without the fundraiser shirt, and she was left standing in the back while the other children celebrated together. She was essentially separated from the group because we didn't donate. Regardless of the purpose of the fundraiser, I don't believe young children should ever be singled out or excluded based on whether their parents contribute financially. The children have no control over those decisions, and schools should make every effort to ensure all students feel included. I'm glad we ultimately decided to move our daughter to another school. While we appreciated her classroom teacher, our overall experience left us disappointed, and I would not recommend this preschool based on what our family experienced.

The principal, Mrs Kim, is amazing! She will not accept nothing less than perfect for the students. She works extremely hard with long hours everyday, even during vacations, and expects the the same from each student. That must be why their scores continue to rise at such a fast pace. It's only in it's 4th year since opening, but, there are many Telesis students achieving very high marks academically. Another very important program the Telesis staff reinforce is in building exceptional character traits that will translate into each students lives and future career paths. This was one of our decision makers in transferring our kids to Telesis. We use to attend a school ranking #10 but, that does not matter when the school does not make an effort to correct poor characters or looks the other way. We also love the fact that Telesis Academy is the leader in our nation as being the first NEU academies. Now, our kids look forward to college and enjoys visiting different Universities when we have time. Our eldest, in 6th grade, has made several choices already (Stanford, Cal Tech, UCLA). We are grateful to all the Telesis educators (btw, they have18 cotsen teachers, too. That's not commonly seen) who has instilled confidence and helped build more self-esteem in him. With uniformity, Telesis Academy looks and shows characters of an S & P 500 company!

Although it is true that the social environment isn't quite the best, and that the local area isn't…read morethe safest, any student coming in with a working head should be well off here. The extremities when it comes to danger and safety go seriously far left and right - you're the only one in charge of which route you take. My favorite concept of give-and-take applies when it comes to your well being and overall happiness. Most of the friends you make here are generally more 'loose' and very easy-going - no matter what grades they get. The low-achieving status of this school is the give; however, the everlasting strong friendships through mutually, open, or discrete hardships that are so often shared is the take. When it comes to the surrounding environment...haha. Of course it's not safe. People get shot, murdered, and raped in streets within nearby neighborhoods and it's never a surprise when the school goes on lockdown. Surprisingly enough, there have never been any kidnappings. Drivers can be shit too; it's a good thing the area is littered with cops and that the staff has good security. The only reason for someone to get killed is either by your own stupid mistake on the streets, or by being even stupider by voluntarily getting involved with gangs and by spending time with the wrong people. If you stray away from that, you're better than just fine because you can have under-the-influence peers who can be seriously nice and will inform you of where and when undesireable events could/will happen. That's why it's all up to your own decisions - just like any other school with spheres of influence. As for the teachers, the regulars (except for the regulars chemistry teacher) are mediocre and you'd rather not want to touch that. The honors/AP/IB teachers are exceptional, ironically enough. Our current honors chemistry teacher is potentially a fountain of intelligence, but holy fuck she spends an enormous amount of time in class just dicking around on facebook to occassionally share pictures, videos, and stories of her toddlers to the class, of which she can easily distract and temporarily convince. Nogales's honors department is extremely lucky to have their current members. The freshmen start out with the mother, Mr. Speirs (world history honors), and the father, Ms. Zelnick (english honors) of honors. The genders are switched due to their associated familial reputations with the honors kids (mother for girl/boy problems and father for life and serious problems). Our school's R.O.P. program offers a buttload of fun - especially the arts division. The time spent with these guys will inject you with the true definition of high school memories - no matter what kind of challenged memory you have. Most importantly, the fact that Nogales also has a bad reputation with academics, good scores on tests (especially AP) are sexy when it comes to colleges taking a gander at transcripts. Considering the amount of difficulty there is in the typical honors/IB pathway, it's still a bitch to score high. Doing so at Nogales, however, makes you stand out on an amazing scale when compared to getting high grades at an 'already high' achieving school, like Rowland, Diamond Bar, or Ayala. I'm always going to cherish how it all feels right the friends I made here. On one half of the entire spectrum of social diversity, there coexists many potheads and douchebag cholos ruining their futures. On the other side, the amount of differences between the innumerable amount of cliques is amazing. You can convince yourself that you've had every type of friend if/when you decide to stop looking at people the same way. I'm a junior now and everything is just fine for me here. Nogales deserves a lot more respect and praise than it actually gets based on external opinions that I often find to be some seriously biased bullshit or very uneducated guesses influenced by ear. So far, experiencing life through change with my old time guys and gals has been way more than I even thought you could ask for. Oh yeah, props to the best cross country and track teams!

Absolutely Horrid, the new principal has no real goals that actively benefit the entire school…read more He'd rather support "popular" sports that don't need any extra funding and ignore problems of other sports. Why would you continuously give funding to a team that doesn't need it. Multiple jerseys and helmets don't make a team better. Focus on spending the funds on making the school environment better.
