Joe Bozzi is a crook. He used fraudulent insurance papers during our move with him. He still has our artwork. He took a picture of it in his possession and has stopped returning our texts/phone calls despite my mentioning I would pay for it to be shipped to me or drive and pick it up from him. I'd like to start by saying Joe is a very nice guy and I feel bad knowing he is new to the business. However, after finding another issue after 10 days of being in our new place and finding more and more things broken I couldn't stay quiet. I disclosed all of my items and the multi stop move in my initial Yelp Quote ask, Joe gave me a quote and asked if he could come take a look around to better assess the quote. I agreed and set an appointment so he could meet my husband at our storage unit where the majority of our items where. He was supposed meet him at 11am after several phone calls back and forth with my husband he finally arrived at 3pm. He was able to see both the storage unit and my parents home where we had some items since we were there for 2 months prior to our move. We came from a 2 bdrm home into a two bdrm condo we have nice furniture and the table and couch were set up in my parents basement so he saw everything for what it was. We did not hide anything from him so when he gave us our quote and was lower than the other two of course we agreed knowing he was insured and had other great reviews. He sent us the contract we secured his services and he stated he would be at the storage unit between 8-10am. That morning my husband called him at 9:30 when he still hadn't heard, Joe stated he would be there in about 30 mins. After an hour my husband asked again to find that they were stuck at another job and since it was hot they would just come after lunch so they could get a proper break. My husband then got the call they were on their way when they finally arrived to the unit it was just after 2pm. They loaded the truck which took about 1.5 hours. They then told my husband they needed a break and were going to grab some drinks before meeting at my parents. Nearly an hour goes by and my husband calls them to see where they are to find they went to our new place rather than my parents house. My husband drives to our new place and allows them to unload to then come back to my parents. Once there they realized the truck was too small to fit all of the items so they packed what they could and headed to the new place again. At this point it was getting very late. At 10:30pm I called my husband to ask where he was when he stated the guys were still moving items into the new condo and they were dead tired. Which I'm sure they were, my husband gave them a generous tip and allowed them to go home once the truck was empty but since they took so long and did not set anything up, which it states in the contract they would, I had to sleep at my parents house in the spare room which thankfully had a bed!!! They never came back to finish the job so for the next several days my poor husband spent driving back and forth between my parents and our home to unload bins and boxes. He was forced to set up the couch, bed, tables and dresser himself. I am pregnant which is why my husband was so involved and frankly I wish I had paid closer attention to the whole move because here I am 2 weeks later fuming because so much was ruined. As stated he was lower than other bids by about 300-400$ which looking back on now I would have gladly paid since now the warranty on my $2800 mattress is void when he severely ripped it! That doesn't even include the rest of the items! So please know you get what you pay for! DO NOT HIRE THESE GUYS. THEY DON'T HAVE A TRUCK AND ARE NOT HONEST!! I PAID in CASH AFTER THE MOVE but 5 months later, THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD for the AMOUNT I'VE PAID IN CASH - THIS IS FRAUDULENT! Joe gave me a very competitive estimate of $650 and I gave a deposit of $50 using my credit card. We scheduled a move for May 31st. Then the problems began. They showed up 6 hours late with a small rented U-Haul Truck which did not even fit half of my mother's furnishings. We loaded my minivan but still only moved half. They did not finish the move and had to come back to move the rest - again with the small U-Haul, his pick up truck and they again used my minivan. They did not finish the move until Tuesday, June 5. So, they were unreliable (late), had to help them move, use my minivan for the move, paid in cash even before the move was completed, chased them for days to complete the move, and finally, 5 months later they fraudulently and dishonestly charge me for the amount I've paid for the move. Although these Movers showed up on time the day of the move, and I paid him additional money in order to pick up some trash and other items to be thrown away at my home, there were issues. The first issue was in the move, they damaged my microwave cart beyond repair and I had to purchase a new one. The additional money that I gave him which was $200 for two loads for a total of $400, apparently was not sufficient for him to finish the job because he left a good amount of trash in the basement, in the living room and some in the upstairs bedroom as well. Unfortunately I would not be able to recommend these gentlemen. In reply to Joe who replied to my first comment; I never said it wasn't your fault and I didn't put it back together but I am not going to nitpick about that. As far as you coming back, you did not tell me that your truck wasn't big enough ever! Had you told me that I would have hired someone who could have handled the job not paid you $400 for something that was not completed. I needed a last minute move and these guys delivered. Joe was quick to respond via email and text. He was always polite and kept me informed on their arrival time. The quote was competitive with others companies and there were no hidden charges even after they took a little longer than quoted.I would use them again for another city move. read more

U lied u never sent a check out....u couldn't tell me when and where u mailed it and a $400 check without a tracking number from u? And u asked me for my address after u supposedly mailed out my check...i also asked u to MEET me at the police station and u refused. Also the same way you took my money greedily is the same way u said I would get it back....CREDITED TO MY ACCOUNT AS A "NORMAL COMPANY WOULD DO" ur not answering my messages as a company would....if the " check "was LOST that means u still have the money cuz it wasn't cashed....SO SEND ANOTHER CHECK....U DRIVE BY my street all the time put it in my mailbox... read more

Moved our Daughter from the Hartford CT area to Central NJ. Had some challenges but Joe made sure it went as smooth as possible. We plan on using him again when we need to make another move. Fair prices and stands by his quote unlike others we used in the past who hit you with hidden charges. read more

In regard to your reference about falsifying what needed to be moved- you were shown everything that needed to be moved. It was kit my job to quantify the number of boxes. I would not have these guys move my doghouse! Initially the move was supposed to start at 10 AM Joseph text message me to ask if it was okay to arrive 1/2 late at 10:30 and I said "okay, no problem", then at 10:47 AM he again texts me and say it will be 12 Noon, again I politely say okay though it is now screwing up my day. Then after 12 he says 2 PM then shows up at 2:37 PM. I told him what I had several times from the beginning what I had then when he got there started saying that is not what he expected (a full storage unit, it was full but told him several times before he even got there, days before. these guys are SMOKERS!, huffing and puffing, literally and figuratively!) They were supposed to unload it all the same day but they had a tire going down so was supposed to show back up to finish loading up more stuff (yes, they left un-finished!) and were supposed to be there next morning at 11AM. Well after 2 PM they finally show up at the place that it was going to and Joseph was on me about getting paid the balance right after he got out of the truck, I told him after the job was done. After dropping my air compressor to the ground and damaging it and them just throwing things in my unit in a hap-hazard way he tells me that he has to go pick up his kid but he was supposed to go to pick up the rest of my stuff. He PROMISED ME that at 5 PM he would be there if I (stupidly) paid him the balance then and shook my hand on it. 5 O'clock came and went and then at 5 something said that he had his kid, can we do it tomorrow? (I already told him that the storage people wanted me out by 11:59 PM that night was the absolute deadline, no extensions (even though I was paid up to date, that is another 1/2 star review for Cube Stupid (Cube Smart...there is nothing smart about them either!) in Old Saybrook, CT. Well anyways, real long story short, I had to rent a trailer with U-Haul (5 stars from them in Guilford) just before their closing time at 7 PM so that I can complete my transfer of stuff to my "new" unit in Middletown, CT and had to do that basically in the dark and with the light from my vehicle's headlights and dropped off the trailer back in Guilford that same night at 10:34 PM!...my back was screaming from the pain since I am partially dis-abled hence the reason that I hired them for the move in the first place!! Do yourself a favor and stay away from Joseph and "Universal Movers", you will be happy that you did! read more

Never again! We scheduled a move for Mother's Day at 9:30 am. I figured this would give me plenty of time to enjoy the afternoon with my family. Joe called me at 9:45 and stated they were "running a little late." When I asked about how long, he told me 2 hours. So I assumed he'd be there around noon. I got a text message at 11:30 stating they would be leaving Waterbury in 20 minutes and then will be headed to me, in Wallingford. I assumed he'd be at my house around 12:30 or so. He didn't show up until almost 2:00. He apologized and said he would take something off the bill. When the job was done and I asked him how much I owed him, he said whatever I thought was fair and then gave me an attitude when I suggested $100 less than the original amount quoted. He ended up giving me a $50 discount after he completely ruined my first Mother's Day. Not to mention there's a huge gash in my dresser drawer and he broke another piece of furniture.
