I realized that water was puddling at the bottom of the basement wall when it rained. The water was also hidden under the concrete. Even when the keyway looked nearly dry, I could feel water, mud and wet rocks under the concrete floor. Days went by and panic began to set in; I wasn't sure who could fix something like this. It would be a huge job to rip up the driveway and fix the water problem from the outside. I needed someone to fix the wall leak and the hole under the slab. It had to be done from the inside. Luckily, I found B. Altman's Waterproofing. I figured I would call and leave a message (it was already late but I wanted to put a call in and get the ball rolling) Surprisingly, the owner answered. He had me send photos of the basement wall, floor etc. Barry analyzed the situation quickly. He realized the wall had a long crack as well. He answered all my questions and described why and how leaks like this occur. He assured me that the problem was very fixable. Two days later, Barry's technician, Marcos arrived promptly at 9am. He spent the entire day fixing the problem. He cleaned out the crack in the wall and added epoxy injections all along the damaged areas. Then he filled in the cracked keyway. Marcos was a true professional, his work was clean and he kept my house neat; even making sure to use a drop cloth everywhere he worked. The job was finished in one day! About a week later Staten Island had what was called the wettest December ever. Floods were everywhere in the tristate area. It was about 2 days worth of nonstops rainfall! Two of my neighbors told me that they had to use a shop vac to dry up the rain that had entered their basements, but my basement was actually dry for once! Thank you B. After the owner of the plumbing company came out and fixed what he needed to quickly and at a very reasonable price the worker from Arid came out to view the final phase of my problem. Patrick (the owner) gave me an appointment for his workers to install a sump pump. The first pictures are of the check valve portion of the project. The second picture is an extension installed by Mazzone to my check valve two feet below my basement floor. The third set of pictures are from the completed job by Arid. The workers from Arid were very polite and worked quickly and very effectively with a great deal of carefulness for my home and living spaces. I completely recommend both these companies for any waterproofing projects you may find that you need.

Usman and his incredibly capable crew restored and repaired my 6 story townhouse back exterior and…read moremy roof, which are made out of EIFS stucco. We had hired a structural engineer to add flashing to balconies as well as ceiling fans. When he added the fans, he cut into the EIFS and did a very poor job patching the channel he cut to hide the electric. This caused condensation inside the home and required immediate repair. Usman is a class act. He personally showed up to the project himself every single day. He also did certain parts of the project himself or was helping his men in any way he could by doing various tasks. The roof needed a sauna removal, which Usman and his crew did with extreme care, but also left lots of damage to the EIFS stucco. Usman and his team carefully repaired it. Upon repair, he inspected our roof and found many critical issues we were unaware of. It was not done in a "pushy contractor" way, it was done because he knows his business and his products so well, he wanted to figure out why the roof was requiring so much product and because he is INCREDIBLY detail oriented. It was because the EIFS was getting wet due to exposed limestone joints, which over time would have meant we would have to redo the entire EIFS (a very big and expensive job) and he also found an immediate future issue which would have caused a leak. We were able to fix and get ahead of both, while staying on the original timeline. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated Usman and his team's attention to detail from start to finish of the project. Over the past 8 years in my townhouse, I have put a lot of work into it. It is tricky to find a great contractor. One that is not only talented, but also cares about his work AND his workers!!! That is a true sign to me of a wonderful company. He not only ordered lunch for his crew, he ALSO ordered lunch for my housekeeper and myself! I kept calling my husband and telling him how kind Usman was and how thorough. He is EXTREMELY thorough. He is collaborative in the sense that he will listen to the owner (in this case me) and address any and all concerns or questions I had with thoughtfulness and care. We hadn't planned on restoring the front of my building, which is limestone, but I had a quick question about it (NOT part of the scope!) for Usman and after I received the answer, my husband and I decided to get a bid to do preventative work to restore the front using Usman and his team again.
